The number of chromosomes of a species has little to do with the complexity of the organism or the amount of DNA. Jackrabbits, hares, cultivated tobacco, and most types of potato also have 48 chromosomes. Does that mean jackrabbits, hares, tobacco, and potatoes came from our magical common ancestor too? Obviously not. Guppies, like humans, also have 46 chromosomes. Obviously no relation there. Chromosome count is irrelevant towards proving Evolution.
