@RollChan1985 no idea, there's no copyright on it. if i had to hazard a guess i'd say 1995-96-ish, based on the other games in the same series

Something random I discovered tonight: the stage opening/stage clear theme is from Wonderboy: Monster Lair!

And that's not the only thing Gamtec's stolen from Monster Lair. The instrumentation of the music in several of their games is very similar, suggesting the sound driver was taken from that game; also, the power-up sound in Monster Lair is the same as the 1-up sound in Squirrel King.

the cheeky bastards. I wonder if any unlicensed mega drive developers actually bothered to write their own sound driver, they all seem to have signs of being nicked from somewhere else. (maybe not the few US and Japanese-developed ones, but you never know)

Can I just ask something... how did you get this game to work? When I ran it on my emulator (Kega Fusion), the game somehow "crashes" during the gameplay (that is, the screen fades to black after a few seconds).
Does it require some sort of code or something?
