My favorite band of all time forever and ever and ever and it still will be, not just 'cause i'm a fan but because I know music, and I know how I feel when I listen to Phish and I know how YOU feel when YOU listen to Phish. That's why we're here.
LOL i love how in the beginning on Charlie Rose they are talking about the band and they show all the members excet fish hahahahahahaha cant take a man seriously when hes in a dress lol
I don't feel Trey Sold Out in anyway.. I really think the guys are just happy to be playing again.. They just happen to generate tons of cash! 2009 shows were great. welcome back guys!
saw phish in cincy 09 both nights......have seen multiple shows since i saw my first show in cincy at music hall in 94 (the show where the fire alarms went off), and to anybody who reads this....from 02-04 things were shaky on tour and at the shows at best. Phish has now returned reborn playing as tight as ever, reminiscent (sic?) of the fall 97 which in my opinion were some of the best shows ever. Phish is back bitches, but mind you its hard as ever to get tix, cincy sold out in under 5 min.
To all the haters, go and see them. There back- full on, ass kicking back. I was at The Went and Cypress....they are back. They don't jam anymore, blah blah blah. what a bunch of whining bitches with an axe to grind. Don't be mad because you actually had to get a job and weren't able to leech of the band and its fans anymore.
I've been seeing them for years. What am I missing? They jammed then (when I started, in 93) and they are jamming now. Jam-styles have evolved, but they're are still jamming.
I might have misspoken. I think that I meant that they were great in 09 (and, of course, all the way up to 2000). As for "they sucked" between 2000-2004, I think that's one of those statements that grows out of having it so good. Like, "this cell phone sucks!" Really? Not able to call across the country on a fucking wireless device fast enough?! Phish in 2000 and especially 2003 was a disappointment compared to the Phish we knew before, but the pretty fucking far from sucked.
I saw phish in 09 at darien lake on the night of trey's anniversery. though big cypress is clearly is some of the best work i have to say when i saw them in 09 they really brought a ton of energy and had a great set list.
Big Cypress was like the encore to the greatness of the years up through 1997. Honestly the rest has just been the death throws of a once great band. It was like there had been a huge setbreak from fall 97 til Big Cypress...
when the film comes into burlington, vermont (around the 5 minute mark) there is a great jam. does anyone know what song that jam is a part of? any help would be greatly appreciated.
@jamesbond007AAA It sounds like an early version of "Black eyed katy" which was the name of the moma dance before they put words to it......."the moment ends......."
I like what that guy says at the end "I know how I feel when I listen to Phish, and I know how YOU feel when you listen to phish..." well said phriend
The piper clip in this video sounds perfect. Is this the piper from Big Cypress or another one? If someone could tell me that would be great, gotta make sure I have this version of what must have been a monster Piper.
Machu Pichu is amazing!! Been there 5 times... one of the advantages of living in Peru. Disadvantage: long way to travel for Hampton... totally worth it though!
Ahhh Big Cyprus... My last show. Let's see. First I bought 200 oranges in MA and drove them down to Florida to sell. Fool. Who drives oranges to Florida? Well then I smoked a bunch of opium and though I was on another planet, and ended up giving away all the oranges away. The horse cops and their steeds refrained however. Then My friends bike got stolen (or traded for drugs) "the pink lady", bannana seat girls bike, was fought over early sat. morning..Ate some E took for a 4 hour spin etc.etc
Absolutely, you said it man. The only thing that lessened the Phish experience was listening to the dready tour rats spout off how they knew everything about every song and how they were better fans because they were on tour since 89, when most of the time they were caught the last 2 shows riding in their parents beemer.
amen brother. speaking as someone who didnt have dreds and didnt look like every other self proclaimed hippie, i had some tough times going to see phish. good for me that i didnt care about all that bullshit, just teh amazing music.
you are from decatur? i am from sylacauga but live in tuscaloosa cause im a ua student... if anyone from this area is going to hampton we should hang out and maybe carpool lol
"Focuses on why that show caused the band to ultimately collapse" is pretty misleading; I don't think you can make much of a case that Big Cypress 'caused' a so-called collapse. I think as Trey says, NYE 2000 was the high-water mark for the band... nothing more, nothing less.
well "bro" im pretty sure u dont know much about them cause u spelled them F-I-S-H when then title of the video clearly says PHISH. fuckin retard lol phish is music!!!
funny story...I got into phish because I stole someone's collection when I was young and stupid. Where are you from? Maybe I took it... If I did, I'd love to return it.
No, i live in GA, but honestly I wish it would have been you because I would send everything back to you and it would be awesome to just say thank you...because you would have contributed to changing my life. But thanks anyway.
Do you think they'll really tour again? That'd be freakin' amazing, I'm only thirteen, but Phish is one of my most favorite bands, they're just incredible. The emotion behind it, especially their live performances. Too bad I was never old enough to go to one, it really sucks! I want SO terribly bad to see them live, and witness something truly magnificent. IT was awesome, obviously Big Cypress was amazing, and Lemonwheel was a flat out trip carnival. Does anybody know if they'll really tour?
guys im reaching out for some reassurance...Seeing as trey was arrested again in january and if and when he graduates his program he will be sentenced to 5 years of probation...does that mean he stillc an't leave the state or tour? Does anyone know? I am in love with phish and unfortunately i missed the wave so i will always hope but if anyone KNOWS the deal please respond. Something id like to know. Thanks
Regardless, The time of feel good bands is over. Feel good bands, and making peace with each other is over....look forward to hate, rap and other bullshit.....I will be listening to phish and such as long as i live
I disagree, Music will never die no matter what is "popular" There is a lot of great music out there but find like the beatles or phish are obviously rare but they will keep coming along. People haven't completely lost their sense of originality, music changes when someone original tries something new.
there are so many great jam bands out there right now. Umphrey's, Moe., Galactic......not to mention the Black Crowes are back in action (although they are not a jam band) also, what the hell does music actually have to do with making peace???
not to be a music snob but anyone who compares those bands to phish is just settling for second best. Phish was all about making intelligent links and segues and heightening emotions, ups and downs, throughout a song... those bands you mentioned just rip through different jam techniques, they go from one jam to another and it doesn't make any sense... especially Umphree's and moe. After hearing a phish show, those other guys just don't cut it for me. does anyone hear what i'm saying here?
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
show then you have seen a moe. show? I have to tell you; Radio City 2006 is up there on my favorite shows - phish included. You are def being a music snob - Moe. brings the house down. There is too much good music to ignore. Have fun watching Phish pretend they are still playing like they were in 1997 & 98.
hampton 09 was amazing.....basically and please know before I say this, I like moe, BUT Phish is Phish, anything else is an attempt to find perfection that only Phish can provide. there is no pretending....just listen to Hampton 09 and you know it is better than any moe show.
To pcburgh - Phish will not be pretending jack. They are back to do what they do best, and that is play some of the greatest music ever made, by passing the ego and playing in the now. As for moe I see them near teh bottom of the jam band totem pole. I have personally left 2 of their shows early (never went back.) I just found it boring. There's a lot of jam bands out there who are "OK" but it's good to have the real deal back.
I have probably seen more Phish shows than you can count. Don't lecture me on what you like because I don't care. Its a matter of taste dork. See you at Roo goofball.
this concert was one of the greatest moments of my life, and I love my life, but my memories of that show, those friends, and that whole trip are amazing.
I guess I picked the right show for my first and last Phish experience. Best moment of the entire festival: "Wading in the Velvet Sea" right as the sun was rising after eight hours of playing, the sun turning the sky into a beautiful orange, blue and pink velvet tapestry.
Ahh, My hometown Burlington VT..I'm never leaving...the first shot of Burlington is on the corner of Church and Main, in front of Manhattan Pizza..my watering hole...TRY "WALK THE PLANK" if you are ever in burlington..Jameson Whiskey, Captain Morgan Rum, Triple Sec, Pineapple and Orange juice....Very Tasty!!! Cheers MT
Greatest band ever, in my opinion, no; I have my reasons. But they are amazing, certainly one of the best, I do love them. I've seen a good handful of shows, over a dozen easy. The experiences are unreal and I would not trade them for the world.
My brother and his friends ABSOLUTELY love this band, and they got me to listen to Phish. Some people say its only stoner music, but they don't know music. To all the Phishheads out there, rock on. Like you, im waiting for the epic return of the greatest band alive.
They're my all time favorite band...followed them since '93. Still I disagree that Big Cypress was the pinnacle. I'd say seeing Phish pre-1997 was the pinnacle. Once they went funk, they never had the fire I thought they had. Had some truly transcendent moments with them but nearly all were pre-'97. I feel fortunate to have seen Phish and the phenomenon they were at the height of their powers.
Phish is the divine band of all time.......there's no other words to describe them.....DIVINE...ya'll need to focus on how the music develops within the music....not only that, the lyrics say it all....GOD
umm..loved Phish for along time. Saw almost 80 shows in my day between 93-00. But to say theyre DIVINE...thats NUTS. To say that their lyrics ACTUALLY say anything...RETARDED. Tom Marshall would sit with Trey and write lyrics that would SOUND good with the music. They had ZERO importance outside of GAMEHENGE....that is all
you obviously haven't heard The story of the ghost (album)...lots of real lyrics in there especially Roggae... and Ghost is about Tom's invisible phriend when he was a child...yes most of Trey's lyrics are stupid and pointless but...Tom Marshall is a genius...to say the lyrics have zero importance outside Gamehendge is RETARDED....you obviously saw some importance in the music or you wouldn't have attended 80+ shows....
Trey makes my butthole tingle......Anyone ready for the real hiatus to be over? Give it a little more time....These turdbosses can't walk away from the cash cow that is phish.....they stopped doing it for the music ages ago.
My favorite band of all time forever and ever and ever and it still will be, not just 'cause i'm a fan but because I know music, and I know how I feel when I listen to Phish and I know how YOU feel when YOU listen to Phish. That's why we're here.

not to be a music snob but anyone who compares those bands to phish is just settling for second best.

Thanks for stating exactly what I was thinking!

This comment has received too many negative votes show
show then you have seen a moe.

So beautiful, it makes me teary eyed. So much good energy and happiness in that performance and crowd, I wish I could have been there.

that guy walking is a tool. You don't love a band and then get rid of your entire collection of their music.

I guess I picked the right show for my first and last Phish experience. Best moment of the entire festival: "Wading in the Velvet Sea" right as the sun was rising after eight hours of playing, the sun turning the sky into a beautiful orange, blue and pink velvet tapestry.

Phish is the divine band of all time.......there's no other words to describe them.....DIVINE...ya'll need to focus on how the music develops within the music....not only that, the lyrics say it all....GOD
gjhagedon 4 years ago
umm..loved Phish for along time. Saw almost 80 shows in my day between 93-00. But to say theyre DIVINE...thats NUTS. To say that their lyrics ACTUALLY say anything...RETARDED. Tom Marshall would sit with Trey and write lyrics that would SOUND good with the music. They had ZERO importance outside of GAMEHENGE....that is all

well put
dank4alll 4 years ago
you obviously haven't heard The story of the ghost (album)...lots of real lyrics in there especially Roggae... and Ghost is about Tom's invisible phriend when he was a child...yes most of Trey's lyrics are stupid and pointless but...Tom Marshall is a genius...to say the lyrics have zero importance outside Gamehendge is RETARDED....you obviously saw some importance in the music or you wouldn't have attended 80+ shows....

I can't believe they're gone, and I hope they come back. I've never gone to one of their shows and I fear I'll never get the chance too.

Most amazing band ever. I've never had as much fun at a show than at a phish show. nothing comes close to its music and fans. :)

I don't know the first thing about Phish or their music...but Trey Anastasio looks like such a wonderful, kindhearted guy.

Trey makes my butthole tingle......Anyone ready for the real hiatus to be over? Give it a little more time....These turdbosses can't walk away from the cash cow that is phish.....they stopped doing it for the music ages ago.
