This is Aikido, so:

1) You have to grab his hand.

2) You have to make some kind of serious attack, using your body to take him down.

3) You should know, how to fall, without hurting yourself.

4) You should have fun, while realising, that you just lost the ground under your feet.

Aikido is great fun, if you have/are a good attacker. When both Attacker and Defenser are kind of experienced, weight is no problem.

For me, it has always been a combination between locking joints and as I got smoother, using the attackers movement. Using this movement makes it easier not to hurt anybody.

Of course - if you decide, trying to stand a nikkyo, your pisiform bone (Os pisiforme) will get damaged - for example.

Answer: The uploader simply doesn't know that the uke isn't doing judo - it's his fault. The uke is wearing a judo suit (jodogi), but he is NOT actually doing anything other than fall down, so no one here is saying that "the uke is a judoka". No one is insulting judo, except for the one that wrote the title! Also, I practice judo and thanks for supporting it :D

im looking to start a new martial art. i did muay thai and BJJ for a couple years but where i trained didnt preach disapline stance etc, just "heres how you kick punch elbow and knee someone to hurt them." i want a more traditional style martial art, sort of like okinawan karate, aikido, or judo, the only thing i ever see on youtube about aikido is prepared demonstrations, but i dont see that a full speed, randomized attack could be stopped with aikido. which one is more practical?.

aikido is an excellent way of taking down an adoring, compliant student who attacks you with one stiff arm in slow motion. That being said, I actually did use aikido in a fight in junior high school (stopped his right hook with a karate block into aikido wrist lock, into an armbar, followed by uppercut into his solar plexus). I also took a bully roommate down and k.o'd him when he hit his head on the floor with an aikido move. The only 2 times I've used aikido in "real" fights.

true this vdo is a demonstration, but , it shows in slow motion the control of aggresion of an attacker. for those who doubt , try walking into an aikido dojo and expess ur concerns of how weak or "gay" u feel it is . then if u have the courage , come back and tell us what happened. ok ?
