@HeathsHarleyQuinn - I don't have a prob w/ Rammstein, though I do know OOMPH! came first. But even Rammstein didn't need to remake Du Hast to get it played on MTV or do a full English album to have it sell in the states. Nor did they need to change to get invited to play Family Values Tour. Dir en grey also had two of their vids get #1 on Headbanger's Ball, have had 4 domestically released albums, played FVT and have sold out shows all while still singing in Japanese. OOMPH! can do this too.
@Videogenius7 They can't keep making music if no one buys their albums, and I'm telling you now, Germany disregards them. Practically no one there knows oomph. They call Augen Auf Eckstein, and don't even remember the bundesvision song contest 2006. Germany left them in the dust. And America won't help out because they won't let them sell any of their music in stores unless it was an English Album. Stupid Ethnocentric America(my country) is forcing them into this.
@HeathsHarleyQuinn - It's great that The End Records is adding OOMPH! to their roster, but I really wish they would have chosen one of their better German-language albums like GlaubeLiebeTod or Monster instead this "Truth or Dare" all english remake compilation. I'm sick of Western record labels always pressuring awesome foreign bands to sing in English, Rammstein didn't need to, Dir en grey didn't need to, and OOMPH! sure as hell doesn't need to. Let OOMPH! be OOMPH! god dammit!
@Death2Bigots I know exactly where you are coming from, and I feel the same, but they simply aren't as popular as we like to think they are. You should see my deviant art page. All I do is promote them. Rammstein has overshadowed oomph and today's young people don't seem to know the meaning of real music. it's sad. it really is. What pisses me off is that American companies wouldn't let them sell any other album over here. That's why T o D got made in the first place.
When will these record label guys realize that by trying to reshape foreign bands to suit western tastes, they're only making them sound gimmicky and taking away from their exotic edge? All a domestic label needs to do is bring us the albums as-is, existing fans and fans who learned of their music through their friends will still buy their stuff and go see them perform. If a band makes good music, people will accept them just fine as they are and those who don't? Let them keep their radio rock.
@Death2Bigots I wish they could to. I really wish they could - but here's the thing. Have you not heard that they have henceforth sworn off Any English songs? Also I personally like every album they have ever made, except perhaps this Album, and even then, some of the translations were well done. Oomph has constantly said they are for themselves because otherwise they would get bored. They have been saying this fr so many years - you can even hear them talk like that in interviews from 1995.
@HeathsHarleyQuinn - I hadn't heard that about OOMPH! swearing off doing anymore English songs, but I'm glad to hear it and I hope that means the next OOMPH! cd The End puts out will still be in German. The remakes on ToD sound like trying to fit round pegs into square holes. And I remember when DeG were "encouraged" to sing English songs by the same label. I love Kyo but the English versions of Glass Skin and Dozing Green on Uroboros sounded pretty awful. Don't try to fix what isn't broken.
@HeathsHarleyQuinn - "They can't keep making music if no one buys their albums and America won't help because they won't let them sell any of their music in stores unless it's an English Album." - I already buy Dir en grey's domestic reprints whenever I see them, along with any other Japanese band's reprints So if OOMPH! had their German language albums for sale in American stores of course I would buy those too. Not all of us Americans are closed-minded and need everything to be in English.
great stuff out there these guys are among my favorite bands but I sometimes think that almost the whole fanbase consists of females;it's like they listen to Oomph just because Dero might be hot or so but I got a grip already;their MUSIC packs up very well.I hope they won't screw their next record coming out next year though;odd
Some of the English ones I can deal with but I'm just so used to hearing the German versions and know what they're saying and how much it differs from the English version.
But I hope this brings more fans and hopefully they listen to the original versions once they're hooked :]
i like this very much, even though i´m german...to see that there´s a band from germany who can adapt their german songs into proper english versions, is a great thing to me!!! i wish OOMPH! with that english best-of-album all the success in the world ´cause they deserve it!!!:-)))

The three people who disliked are 11 year old Rammstein fans. Unlike (many) adult Rammstein fans, they can't appreciate Oomph!
