They get along fine with chickens and turkeys. They keep to themselves, for the most part. I don't let them free range because they would fly away, and also I have so many predators around here. They have a huge enclosure and they like that just fine. :-)
Hate to tell ya but that isn't a red golden it is a golden lady amherst mix not sure about the hen but all the blue on the cock gives him away. And 40 is what pure young breeding pairs go for in the spring it is top dollar. There is nothing wrong with keeping these mixes to have something nice to look at (they are pretty)just don't try to market your babies as pure Red Golden.
Thanks - I have already been told that. But you are correct, they are pretty. I have no intentions of breeding them (as pure strains) so no worries about ethics.
Didn't meen to come off critical just making sure you knew, lots of opinions on it in the right crowd. I'm sure babies would still have an outlet some where. Just make sure you don't over crowd them and you should have lots of fun with them.
I have discovered that they are not red golden pheasants, but I still think they are gorgeous. Thanks for the info! I have changed the information about this video so it doesn't look like I am trying to misrepresent what these birds are.
