That's a great play. Every week when I see penalties on these types of hits it pisses me off because this is football. It's supposed to be a vicious contact sport.

I'm gonna be completely honest... at least in my humble opinion, it isn't really clear what hits 1st, the shoulder or the helmet. The hit itself happens too fast and the camera isn't able to give a clear image of the moment. Not only that but, what we can call, the clearest image, is at an angle which won't leave clear what happened.

I don't know much about Football rules, but if helmet to helmet means an actual hit, then there was no penalty. During the tackle, May's helmet only moves after hitting hitting his teammate. It doesn't move when he hits the Penn State player, so he never hits with the helmet. Look closely.

I don't get how people are trying to justify that as helmet to helmet, Mays wasn't even squared up when he hit the receiver, he was sideways. And because he was sideways his right shoulder made contact before his helmet ever touched him. The call was wrong, but you can't blame the refs it was a "bang bang" type of play full speed it looks like it could be a penalty, in slow motion that clearly isn't the case.

I don't know much about Football rules, but if helmet to helmet means an actual hit, then there was no penalty. During the tackle, May's helmet only moves after hitting hitting his teammate. It doesn't move when he hits the Penn State player, so he never hits with the helmet. Look closely.
