  • God Bless John Colicos.

A great actor and decent gentlemen, like Lorne Greene and many others from his extremely respectable generation.

Someone whom present day actors should study and learn from.

I always thought that John Colicos should have starred in a sequel episode in Star Trek's 2nd Season as Klingon Commander Kor, facing off against Capt. Kirk in a tactical space battle. Like most Star Trek fans, who knows what the possibilities could have been in a 4th Season...

  • the greatest villian of all to me is got to be baltar,so evil and cool at the same time,he will be missed.

  • Nice to see something of the man himself. I only ever knew him as Kor, Baltar and Quinn, each equally convincing characters.

  • Fantastic interview. Thanks for posting.

  • An amazing interview. Thank you for posting.

  • "I am as far beyond mutants as they are beyond you!"

    - Apocalypse

  • John Colicos left this earth on March 6, 2000 (aged 71) In 1998 he help make a fan trailer for Battlestar Galatica with his old co-stars in hopes of resurrecting the series (ignoring Galatica 1980). Unfortunately it was never picked up. And much later replaced with a version that has nothing in common with the original.

  • The first legendary Star Trek Klingon ever.... His body lies in Sto-vo-kor

  • Apocalypse

  • Fantastic, thanks for posting this

  • Takes a heck of a guy to leave his mark on not one, but two sci-fi icons. Especially considering he wasn't a regular cast member of one of them!

  • Loved this guy... In a Top 10 of the greatest TV villans he's in my top 3

  • Thank You from an "Aging Trekker"! As Gene went into Law Enforcement; Reserve Deputy though and took care of over 3,000 deps qual for their firearms/long guns and shotguns---OCSD.

Meet Gene in 72 (Rick Baker 72/75), and 75 & Wife than, Deforest & "Scotty"-72 he bought me a scotch (21),Gene & his wife again in '75, "Sulu-75; & many many others--KIrk Allen-Org SUPERMAN---met him many times and once at the OC Fair I was walking past a building & heard my name called out and it was Kirk Allen!

  • Very articulate and fascinating man!! I wish John had been available to make Kor a recurring character on Star Trek.

  • Wow, this is so sad, I didn't even know he was dead until this very minute!! Whacko Jacko kicks the bucket and it's in your face 24/7 for the next millenium!! RIP, John, you were a great actor, one of the best!

  • Is this the guy who did Apocalypse's voice in X-Men???

  • @supermanrules4 Yes, for the episodes "The Cure", "Come the Apocalypse", "Time Fugitives - Part 1", and "Time Fugitives - Part 2". After that, some other actor took over the role.

I must say John gave the voice more power and menace than his replacement.

  • go climb a tree best insult ever

  • I can't believe this guy was Apocalypse. He doesn't sound like it. I'd love to see footage of him doing thet voice

  • @greatsayain same here!

  • The man was a class act & an Old School fellow. There aren't many actors like him anymore.

  • Thanks so much for posting this footage and interview with the late Mr. Colicos here. His Kor was glorious! RIP John Colicos.

  • "Explore, not destroy..."

J.J. Abrams and his hack screenwriters should've seen this video before doing a Star Trek movie.....

  • Kor was such a classic! I still remember his chats with Kirk.

Kor: What is the dispersal of the Starfleet?

    Kirk: Go climb a tree.

Kor: Either you cooperate voluntarily, or under our mind scanner ...

Kor: A friend of your, the Vulcan. He seems to have a way of blocking our mind scanner. Perhaps I will find out why. I'll have him dissected. Your friend killed, while you are a mental vegetable. Not a pleasant prospect, unless you tell me what I want to know. :D

  • Do we have a Ram among the Sheep lol.

  • JOHN COLICOS WAS AWESOME ON SPECIAL GUEST ON DS9 EPISODE "Once More Unto the Breach". KOR AND BALTAR WAS YOUR BEST CHARACTERS.

R.I.P MR COLICOS AND THANK YOU!

  • He is cool in his unique style. The one and only Count Baltar. Rest In Peace John!

  • Thank you for sharing and posting this clip.

  • the sound is really faint on this

  • Like many other posts here, I stumbled across this and am ecstatic at having done so, he was one of my old favourites...easily one of the finest Canadian actors ever.

  • Not just Kor & Baltar. On the series War of the Worlds in the late ( ? ) 1980's, he played a recurring character called

" Quinn " who was a Martian / Human hybrid. Quinn was similar to Baltar in some respects, but he didn't want to sell out Earth to the " Martians ", even though he really disliked humans.

Actors like John Colicos are rare people, indeed.

  • The REAL Baltar!!!!!!

  • He is the true actor who made the role famous.I hope that if Glen Larson gets the greenlight for the Galactica feature film he find someone who can play the role just likeJohn, not like that in the remake.

  • He talks a little more about his role as Kor than he does Baltar. Kor the Klingon was as groundbreaking a character as Baltar was. The guys who play villains are almost always the nicest people in real life. I saw him reprise Kor the Klingon w / the prosthetic make - up on Star Trek: DS9.

Baltar in the original BSG was a much better villain than James Callis as Baltar. JC was a scenery - chewing villain in the old school way.

  • i heard his family has a website set up for his fans to post comments about how much they love him.

  • i am apocalypse!

  • IIRC, John also appeared in the final episode of The Six Million Dollar Man as a Russian defector. Oddly enough ABC cancelled SMDM & Bionic Woman to make room in the budget for Battlestar Galactica. John also had a recurring role on one of the daytime soaps. He's still loved and respected by alot of people.

  • was not aware of this interview. found it by accident. thank you so much for putting this up! loved him as kor! loved him as baltar! never heard any of his interviews. wow! from a sci-fi nerd's perspective, pure bliss! and more! just listening to him speak, i think it's a crime that i never got to meet him! humble, insightful, and, unlike those characters i mentioned, a true gentleman. he has been missed! after this video? even more so!

  • Thanks very much for posting this.

  • This guy was an awesome voice character for the XMEN 90s Cartoons, he did Apocalypse.

Just awesome, he really put voice with the character of the comics.

If you havent heard it, YOU SHOULD, he gives Darth Vader a run for his money!

  • yes he was ;)

  • He was one hell of an actor... Kor and Baltar are iconic characters...

  • I think the voice-acting he did for X-Men: the Animated Series where he played Apocalypse is unmatched! Just like Cathal J. Dodd's voice for Wolverine, John's voice is the only one I have in mind whenever I read the comics and Apocalypse appears.

  • Anyone remember his role as Quinn in War of the Worlds?

Gaius Baltar from that Galctica in name only show isn't a fraction of the Baltar Colicos was.

  • When Lorne Greene did the Adama role, and Boltar spoke with Lucifer concerning the annihilation of humankind, I was flubber ghosted... zounds... I grew up on Worth Drive, near Dan Blockers house, there in Jax FL

  • What a great man John Colicos was, I'll always remember him best as Count Baltar first and for most from Battlestar Galactica and secondly the first ever on screen Klingon, the Dahar Master, Kor. :)

John was just so good at convincing us at how evil Baltar really was, just a shame that the original Galactica never got more than one season. :(

  • I agree to me he was Baltar and I will allways remeber him as Baltar then Kor

  • Whenever I see or hear John Colicos's name, I instantly think of his characters Kor and Baltar. He is surely missed by all science-fiction fans. But I must say that he did not die in 1991, he died in 2000. It was Gene Roddenberry that died in 1991. RIP both Gene and John.

  • Whenever I hear or see John Colicos's name, I think of both Kor and Baltar instantly. He is surely missed by all scienc-fiction fans. RIP John.

  • Thanks for posting. He was one of my favorite actors. I have hardly ever seen any on-camera interviews of him. This is a great find for me. Thanks again!

  • To his millions of fans,Baltar is what he will be remembered for.A true great actor.

  • Too bad he decided not to appear on stage in full regalia! I would loved to have seen him reprise his role as the infamous Klingon commander, just for the fans!

  • Really excellent interview. Thanks for posting this!

  • Thanks tons for posting this. Was that a mistake about his date of passing (1991?)

    Any more of this interview?

  • Thanks for your comments. 1991 is the year John spoke to the 25th Star Trek anniversary rally in Toronto. He died in 1990.

  • Thanks for this. As a fan of Battlestar Galactica, who fondly remembers Baltar as one of her favorite 'bad guys', this is wonderful.

  • John was my personal friend here in Los Angeles. Seeing this brings back so many memories of him. It was at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel he speeks of, I was the night manager. Thanks for posting this vid

  • Judging not only by his body of work, but his views and eloquence, as seen here so well, you were lucky to have known such a fine person. Clearly, he was a thoughful and intelligent human being who saw beyond the obvious things in life.

    RIP Mr. Colicos

  • Good post Sackville, John was a great actor. I would loved to have met him in person. A slight correction though, John died in March of 2000, not 1991.

  • Thanks for your comments and pointing out that John died in 2000, not 1991. I will make the correction. As a great fan of all things Trek he would have enjoyed the many Trek offerings on Youtube.

  • I loved his character better on the DS9 episodes than TOS. "Blood Oath", Sword of Kahless" and "Once More Unto The Breach" were the best. The Klingons, in my opinion, were the best part of Star Trek (well the Romulans too).

  • It's a pity John died before the advent of Youtube and other social networks. He would have enjoyed reading your comments. I hope there are more.
