Good luck, Edie! You are absolutely AWESOME and an inspiration beyond words to myself and the entire LGBT community! Thank you, you sweet, sweet amazing woman!! I just saw the documentary Edie & Thea - a very long engagement and thus found out about your case after googling you. I'm sooooooo sorry for your incredible loss. My heart breaks for you knowing how much you and Thea loved each other. I know you are making Thea proud...
@TheMango121 Except....of course...Atheists, agnostics, and a whole variety of people who don't identify with any religious label get married. Religion doesn't own marriage, simply because there are too many non religious people who get married and too many DIFFERENT religions who practice marriage.

The dignity of people like Edie and Thea is inspiring. It is precisely because of such people that today we have things like civil rights, rule of law, a constitution (as opposed to fundamentalist theocracy and/or totalitarianism). Thank you Edie, and be well!
@53dumey If you want to live in a place without LGBT people (at least according to the authorities), and without civil liberties, I suggest you check out Iran. I bet you'll love it there.
@53dumey Thank you, sweetheart, your generosity is indeed touching. Don't worry though, we can have hot sex both on exotic islands AND at home. And, since we know how to protect the Constitution and the citizens' rights guaranteed by it, and since we have no intention of moving anywhere contrary to our own will, the few remaining homophobes around have two options: either grow up and learn how to live with and respect other human beings or book a one-way trip to Teheran. The choice is yours.
@53dumey Look darling, I'm sorry you're that ignorant, but it's a nice day outside and I have better things to do than waste my time trying to educate you why your inane comments are homophobic, why your reasoning (roughly "there's more heteros than gays, therefore the gays must leave") is laughable, or why the Equal Protection Clause of the U.S. Constitution directly applies to the marriages of same-sex couples. Luckily, our federal judges are substantially more intelligent and mature than you.
It's a hopeful sign that President Obama asked the Department of Justice to respect equal rights and privileges under the law as proscribed by the 14th Amendment. Kudos for that small start. The Bill of Rights continues to be trampled by totalitarian political hacks installed by Nixon, Ford, Reagan, G.H.W. Bush, G.W. Bush, Cheney and the legacy left by their henchmen (Rove, Goodling, Goss, Bolton etc.) in the courts, bureaus and agencies. We must never stop demanding our liberty.
Black voters need to wake up. Barack Obama does not share our values. This proves it, amongst other things. Obama believes in Marriage based on sodomy and does not share the Entrepreneurial spirit that is so evident in black neighborhoods across America. Obama is hostile to black values and does not deserve our vote.
@BlackRepublican2010 And you think the Republicans DO? hahahahahahahahahahahahaha
Seriously tho. Are you kidding with this shit? We *can* agree on one thing: Obama does not share the plight of poor, urban black folk. And you might even say he is a bit of an "Uncle Tom" for not taking a more progressive stand for civil rights. Not only does he tow the corporate line, but he's rolled over on a number of important issues. However, he's still a SHITLOAD better than any of the GOP politicians.

LOL Obama is just as lawless as the Bush administration.
The aclu should be fighting to get benefits taken away from EVERYONE in terms of marriage, not just give it to gay people.
Marriage is a religious ceremony, and should be a strictly based on religion, you get no benefits from being married by the state.
PROBLEM SOLVES.

ROFL !!
Theres NOTHING in the Constitution about Gay Marriage, in fact theres nothing in there about marriage period.
"Homophobe " ?
Why are you such a Heterophobe ?
Wether you use Religion or Evolution, homosexuality is nothing more than a diseased mind.
So, why should over 100 million people move to Teheran to make way for a few million ?
It just does'nt add up !

DOMA is a violation of the establishment clause of the first amendment, it's authors need to be impeached.
Religion is not United States law, our laws must be justified without it.
No renaming Blasphemy as Defamation, or creating punishments for defying religious edict.
No oaths requiring Deity or faith recognition.
No conscious clause(religious exemptions) for professionals of public services.
No religious definition for government recognized marrage.
No church incorperation tax breaks.
