Haven't seen it yet. First of all, jazz functions best in a free society, not one controlled by fascism or communism. So where is the jazz in the White House? Clinton had more jazz in the white house than this guy. JIVE. JAMF
Kids; they listen to the rap, which gives them a-BRAIN DAMAGE. YA SEE?! With their hippin and a-hoppin and a-bippin and a-boppin SO THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT THE JAZZ IS ALL ABOUT! YA SEE?!
You are an ignorant, obnoxious ass hole! Next to Barack Obama you are just silly trailer trash. So shut your pie hole and talk about jazz if you know anything - which I doubt. Although you are evidently impressed with your ability to think, believe me you are far too stupid to burden other readers with your nonsense!
This is the biggest liar in history. He lied about how his health care plan would reduce the debt and create jobs, LIE. He claimed unemployment wouldn't go over 8 percent if his "recovery plan" passed. Did Bush spend like a Liberal and do some bad things? Yes. But this president and this Democrat majority controlled congress is a joke.
America is currently at a point where, if it was compared to you or me, ... we just bought about 60,000 homes, each. How are you going to make the payment on 60,000 homes? WELL? What is going to happen to you? How is America GOING TO PAY FOR THIS MARXIST'S ECONOMIC PLANS? HOW? Be specific. HOW??? Screw "Bush lied people died" or "Halliburton!"... how are we going to pay for this friggin' enormous debt?
Could this guy just give one straight god damned answer to any question? Who are you going to invite to the white house to play music??!!!! Wynton Marsalis, Tower of Power, Chick Corea .... christ. A minute and forty-four seconds of rambling and he still didn't answer the question.
Why do you expect him to give anything but a "Presidential" answer? Do you think he's actually booking the talent that will show up? That's not how it works. He probably has no idea. Secondly, President Obama realizes he has to be "Jackie Robinson" in front of the camera. Diplomatic and vague to the degree that no one is ever offended or excluded by his response. Tis the burden of the first African American President in a country with a legacy of racial intolerance.
@jsbruzina Wow....didn't know that Christ is being billed as a jazz artist now. King of Kings, Lord of Lords, and Prince of the Piano.....I think it's cool!!
Yeah, man, bring Herbie on in, and Branford, man. If Clinton can play some tenor, yo, man, surely Obama be doin' some cool scattin' an' rappin' ya'll.
@laughingtiger123 Yeah baby, I got rambling on my mind, ta, ta, ta .... I got free health care, but got no doctor, I got trade and cap but ain't got no money for gas .... I got socialism but did know it was going to be so bad .... yeah baby, we are all equal now, but all screwed up, he surely did spread it, ta, ta, ta, ta.
If Obama got his way, jazz music would be owned by the federal government like a lot of banking is, Chrysler is, General Motors is, the health care industry soon will be... and he'd tax the hell out of it, too. What a socialist fraud. Read his favorite book "Rules For Radicals" and learn all about him, if you have the courage to really look at him and not the personality cult... I doubt you will...
Well-stated Laughingtiger. The government's money comes from working people in private enterprise. When the political class steals it (as they're doing now) that means less money to hire jazz musicians in clubs/restaurants.
its not just free money, they become part publicly owned, which gives the government a say in how the major institutions in the country run, which is a great level of responsibility.
All that money is going to companies that millions of americans work for. Imagine if they all went bankrupt. Great Depression all over again, half the country out of work.
I don't like any of the companies, but I still understand that we need them.
Where are the Jazzwomen? After all, it's because of them that any of us know about jazz at all. The musicians usually accompanied the female jazz and blues singers. But there are none at this first jazz event in the White House. Are we continuing the good ole boy syndrome that has proliferated in jazz for the five decades?

President Clinton plays the saxophone, so it's probably a safe bet that his exposure to Jazz was part of his development as a musician. President Obama may need to be educated concerning Jazz. It's no longer the pop music of mainstream America. It needs to be sought out now.
If you ask me, there needs to be a "Jazz Czar" focused on the promotion and preservation of our most influential contribution to the world of music. I nominate Dave Brubeck or Dr. Billy Taylor.
