  • Barack Obama 2012

  • @HipHopkins09 Exactly. I've given up on ALL POLITICIANS and PUBLIC OFFICIALS. Yes, some are worse than others but 99.9999% SUCK!!!

  • KENYa NEEDS THERE SON

    BACK. Donald Trummp 2012

  • @fred210371 Idiot. Donald Trump has no idea what he's doing, you racist pig.

  • KENY

    A NEEDS THERE SON

    BACK.

  • WOW People are dying Libia is going down Gee I am so concerned about Basket Ball Socialism sucks Can we agree w/ Dennis and impeach this POS

  • Haven't seen it yet. First of all, jazz functions best in a free society, not one controlled by fascism or communism. So where is the jazz in the White House? Clinton had more jazz in the white house than this guy. JIVE. JAMF

  • @ocnoreen lol

  • Bravo!!!

  • Marxists don't swing!

  • @pooperscoopr69 but idiots do make stupid comments for all the world to see.

  • @osrav you are stupid

  • They would never promote jazz! It's the devils music.

    too complicated for most

  • @Jordainio Fantomas is the devil's music.

  • He actually sounds like a Republican, at least he does a good imitation, too bad it is all bs.

  • JAZZ

  • Kids; they listen to the rap, which gives them a-BRAIN DAMAGE. YA SEE?! With their hippin and a-hoppin and a-bippin and a-boppin SO THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT THE JAZZ IS ALL ABOUT! YA SEE?!

  • what has brought us through the hard times is the blues, no doubt about it

  • Yo Badmusic man

You are an ignorant, obnoxious ass hole! Next to Barack Obama you are just silly trailer trash. So shut your pie hole and talk about jazz if you know anything - which I doubt. Although you are evidently impressed with your ability to think, believe me you are far too stupid to burden other readers with your nonsense!

  • This is the biggest liar in history. He lied about how his health care plan would reduce the debt and create jobs, LIE. He claimed unemployment wouldn't go over 8 percent if his "recovery plan" passed. Did Bush spend like a Liberal and do some bad things? Yes. But this president and this Democrat majority controlled congress is a joke.

  • America is currently at a point where, if it was compared to you or me, ... we just bought about 60,000 homes, each. How are you going to make the payment on 60,000 homes? WELL? What is going to happen to you? How is America GOING TO PAY FOR THIS MARXIST'S ECONOMIC PLANS? HOW? Be specific. HOW??? Screw "Bush lied people died" or "Halliburton!"... how are we going to pay for this friggin' enormous debt?

  • Could this guy just give one straight god damned answer to any question? Who are you going to invite to the white house to play music??!!!! Wynton Marsalis, Tower of Power, Chick Corea .... christ. A minute and forty-four seconds of rambling and he still didn't answer the question.

  • @jsbruzina

Why do you expect him to give anything but a "Presidential" answer? Do you think he's actually booking the talent that will show up? That's not how it works. He probably has no idea. Secondly, President Obama realizes he has to be "Jackie Robinson" in front of the camera. Diplomatic and vague to the degree that no one is ever offended or excluded by his response. Tis the burden of the first African American President in a country with a legacy of racial intolerance.

  • @jsbruzina Wow....didn't know that Christ is being billed as a jazz artist now. King of Kings, Lord of Lords, and Prince of the Piano.....I think it's cool!!

  • ależ on pierdoliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii :/

    what t f!!

  • @aakkoin drop dead

  • And thank God, no more bullshit square-ass honky-tonk country music either! More like an out house than the white house when Bush was in office.

  • hell yeah :D

  • Yeah, man, bring Herbie on in, and Branford, man. If Clinton can play some tenor, yo, man, surely Obama be doin' some cool scattin' an' rappin' ya'll.

  • I wouldn't compare that to Palin's 'I HAVE NO FUCKING IDEA WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT'. It's obvious.

  • I got the quadrupling the national debt in my first 6 months of office blues.... (wa-waaa...)

  • @laughingtiger123 Yeah baby, I got rambling on my mind, ta, ta, ta .... I got free health care, but got no doctor, I got trade and cap but ain't got no money for gas .... I got socialism but did know it was going to be so bad .... yeah baby, we are all equal now, but all screwed up, he surely did spread it, ta, ta, ta, ta.

  • It's fun to see all you americans squabble!

What Obama has or has not is up to see! To me it's good to see that at last some of the racial barriers have been crossed! Que sera, sera!

  • @newkbean Personally I think this administration is dividing the country more than it already has and part of it is racial.

  • @acmeseed Whichever way we look at the current situation, it's not good.

  • @acmeseed

How is he doing this? What facts do you have to back this up?

  • @peteraugustmusic Sadly, he's not doing much of anything. A big disappointment at best.

  • Obama! I have yet to see your promise on this come through. Please take the time to address these "minor" issues as well.

And since when is science one of the humanities? It shouldn't be an occasional visitor, it should be a daily reminder! For that matter, music too!

  • why Obama don´t talk like black?

  • obama should give everyone free bulletproof vest and free check that are $1000 every month not to junkys :]

  • If Obama got his way, jazz music would be owned by the federal government like a lot of banking is, Chrysler is, General Motors is, the health care industry soon will be... and he'd tax the hell out of it, too. What a socialist fraud. Read his favorite book "Rules For Radicals" and learn all about him, if you have the courage to really look at him and not the personality cult... I doubt you will...

  • blablabla:)

  • Well-stated Laughingtiger. The government's money comes from working people in private enterprise. When the political class steals it (as they're doing now) that means less money to hire jazz musicians in clubs/restaurants.

  • @Zrandrid WAIT! you mean the money does not come from the evil rich people? what a revelation!

I grew up under communism, it ain't pretty.

  • @acmeseed We in America need to listen to people like you who grew up in that system. "Those who fail to understand history are doomed to repeat it."

  • Jamey Aebersold told me to call the white house and ask for a jazz stimulus package...

  • Where are the women in jazz?

  • check out the video of Esperanza Spalding live at the White House

  • All over! Astrud Gilberto, Ella Fitzgerald, Billy Holliday, Diana Krall, Esperanza Spalding, Karrin Allyson.... They're all great!

  • All over..? Women have been in jazz since it's roots.

  • singers mostly

  • National Public Radio

  • your ugly

  • its not just free money, they become part publicly owned, which gives the government a say in how the major institutions in the country run, which is a great level of responsibility.

  • You da man! Save Jazz for our children and grandchildren.

  • All that money is going to companies that millions of americans work for. Imagine if they all went bankrupt. Great Depression all over again, half the country out of work.

I don't like any of the companies, but I still understand that we need them.

  • Where are the Jazzwomen? After all, it's because of them that any of us know about jazz at all. The musicians usually accompanied the female jazz and blues singers. But there are none at this first jazz event in the White House. Are we continuing the good ole boy syndrome that has proliferated in jazz for the five decades?

  • your realllyyy dumb

  • Thank you.

  • this guy is so full of bullshit never answered the guys question who what when all about where sure winton and bradford are going to be there ahh dont matter none of us will be in fact i do not wish to meet this phony ever

  • Kids from local schools in the White House? Musicians and poets in the White house?

Preposterous!!! Bush&Cheney Co. wanted to make it a BUNKER.

  • Can;t wait to see Branford at the White House!

  • THE PEOPLE'S HOUSE!!

♪♫ Союз нерушимый республик свободных... ♪♫

Sorry couldn't resist. I still like Obama, but I have to admit, every now and then, his rhetoric just sounds alittle more soviet than he probably intends. But then so does the constitution.

  • President with miles and coltrane on ipod....if he has classical with it then I officially can't bring myself to dislike him.

  • He needs to have Pharoah Sanders play at the White house!!! That would be the best music the house of white has ever heard!!!

  • Wynton Marsalis played a reception for President Obama on inauguration day.

  • i betcha he WILL INVITE MR. WYNTON MARSALIS plle!!

  • Somebody probably mentioned it already...but in case nobody did.

hell...Conrad Herwig went to hs with President

    Obama.

that trombonist has a gig on the horizon.

u mighta heard it here first.

    loitering at pinhook...over and out.

  • I expect we'll see jazz in the White House, but jazz also belongs in the streets, in the home, in the clubs, and on the radio. I honestly think the web is better for jazz than having it in the White House. But more power to him if he loves Miles, Trane, etc.!

  • Esto lo digo como individuo políticamente neutral aquí (Buenos Aires) o en cualquier lugar del mundo, y como músico de jazz:

    ¡¡¡¡¡Aguante Obama, carajo!!!!!

  • but unlike Bama, Clinton had a bunch of jazz musicians at his inaugurations.

  • So far, Obama hasn't shown much respect for Jazz. We're waiting...

  • I know jazz has a long history.. Yet, doesn't that comment make you sound a little bent?

  • could you explain further Vilemk0? what do you mean by 'bent'?

  • Like, upset. Or kind of childish. Bent over the fact that you're not getting any attention?

Really isn't that big of a deal.

  • @swinkster1 & JazzVideoGuy

President Clinton plays the saxophone, so it's probably a safe bet that his exposure to Jazz was part of his development as a musician. President Obama may need to be educated concerning Jazz. It's no longer the pop music of mainstream America. It needs to be sought out now.

If you ask me, there needs to be a "Jazz Czar" focused on the promotion and preservation of our most influential contribution to the world of music. I nominate Dave Brubeck or Dr. Billy Taylor.

  • he said he will let jazz musicians in so i think we should all get our horns and go to the white house and have the biggest jam session EVER!!!!! who's with me!!

  • rythmn section guys dont have horns! what about us??

  • he mentioned jazz like once in the whole entire thing. All he did was not answer the question and go on about edumacation. Practically nothing of what he said had anthing to do with the question. this is coming from a thirteen year old drummer. [jazz is cool though]

  • Wait a few months. The man knows about Jazz. On his iPod he has Miles Davis, John Coltrane and Charlie Parker.

  • i know, im not saying that i don't beleive him. im just saying that he goes on and on about stuff that doesn't have anything to do with the question. like he should've sed miles davis, john coltrane, etc.

  • you didn't understand the question littlemanskaterj, the question was about cultural impact, and he discussed it at length. Miles Davis and John Coltrane are dead, they aren't going to visit the white house. keep playing bro

  • wow! on his ipod even! I guess that makes him a true jazz historian who really knows his roots! sorry jazz video guy, but that was a pretty stupid thing to say.

  • There is a long history of Jazz in the White House. A very good friend of mine is a jazz musician who played in the White House during the Johnson administration. Most very very famous jazz musicians (e.g. Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald) have performed there.

  • Our new Prez is hip!!

  • JAZZ IN THE WHITE HOUSE period !!

  • not to ruin any obvious joys here, but jazz has been in the white house. in 1969, nixon had a 70th birthday part for duke ellington, which countless jazz greats. great cd.

  • they have had actual jazz in the white house with bill clinton right?

  • Wynton and Clark terry

  • YEAH!!!!!

  • WOO OBAMA! This guy rocks!

  • Obama should invite Hank Jones and James Moody to play at the White House. They should be recognized as the national treasures that they are.

  • At last, a really Hip comment on YouTube. Well said!

  • are you kidding? he probably doesn't even know who they are. Remember, they had real jobs and he never has.,

  • IF Miles Davis were alive, I would want him to play at the Innaugural Ball. But there's way too many others that would deserve the honor just as much who made Jazz a voice of protest in the 40's and 50's when few others spoke up.

For me, Jazz is America's greatest legacy.

  • Great Idea! Personally, I would like to see "Hail to the Chief" replaced by "Nasty Magnus" .

  • Miles would have loved playing in the White House for Barack.

  • That sounds great!!!!!!!!

  • We were hoping for this to happen. ALL of America's art forms to be included in the mainstream once again [no offense- it's been an eight year hoedown with rap being the bad boy alternative[doesn't take a rocket scientist to see how we've been polarized for nearly a decade]. I guess I should get my upright repaired now...

  • Great news!

  • Sounds amazing...

  • I really hope he doesn't grow a mustache.

  • Hell Yeah!!!

  • Awesome! :D
