  • Uncle Jimmy loved his trade. Music was the love of his life. He was very respected in the circles of people who really knew music. At the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, the "Jimmy Martin Run" is taught in the curriculum. I have known him all my life. I don't think "arrogant redneck" is accurate. I think persistent, humorous, musician fit much better. He was a country boy whose dad died when he was five. His family had to work hard and each have become successful in work and family.

  • dogsee1. it is very disrespectful to speak bad of someone who is gone. shame on you! jimmy martin was a great musician.

  • dogsee,

Do you really know who jimmy was?

Some how I think not..and if you do..you have NO understanding of reality

  • @thumper549 jimmy was an arrogant redneck, didn't have a clue what the real world was all about..i enjoyed some of stuff, he certainly was not as good as he wanted folks to think..the self proclaimed king of bluegrass..as JOHN DUFFEY said "jimmy martin was a big part of why people ridiculed bluegrass and made sport of it" duffey called him jimmy martin and th funny mt. boys..LOL
