You have a lot to learn about Hybridding.

When doing style/set switches use F Keys not clicking interface tabs.

Using F Keys will immeasurably improve your skill at PvP.

Take note of what gear your opponent is in, if they are in D'Hide do NOT keep maging them, set switch to melee gear and destroy them while their defences are down. If they choose to switch to melee gear once you start that, then and only then do you switch back to mage.
