  • Did JF break all this guitar strings at the end??

  • Wait a minute, THAT's not Marty Beller!

  • @sithwriter it's Dan Hickey, the old drummer.

  • Linnell has a way of looking into the camera and smiling, and you are sure that he is smiling at you.

  • Mighty!!!!!!!!!!!

  • favorite song from factory showroom!!!

  • Mixtapes does a pretty mean cover of this song.

  • This song is about my logic professor

  • bit in love with Linnel now...well a bit more than i already was ;)

  • dan hickey was soooo cool.

  • @aazxc159 i would agree with you. dan was a crazy drummer

  • Nobody has anything to say about Flans breaking all his strings on purpose at the end of the song? So very rockstar...

  • @fizgig80304 well he does a better job of it than i could do

  • @fizgig80304 It's strange because he doesn't look mad when he does it. Any ideas? Maybe he was annoyed with the tuning?

  • @geekfest2000 He does go back to adjust the amp a couple times.

  • im sorry i meant band in the last comment

  • why isnt there much clapping at the end, they might be giants is the best song ever.

  • wait was john flansburgh playing bass or guitar in this video? im assuming thats a bass guitar and not a normal electric guitar, because he plays bass for the most part. but i cant tell what it is in this video, because i know he can play normal guitar too.

  • @suicidalpenguins4u He is playing guitar. Danny Weinkauf plays bass. Flans only really plays bass when TMBG plays as a three-piece. He plays guitar in a normal show.

  • @r3dk9 thanks for the info r3dk9

  • @r3dk9 In this performance, Graham Maby is on bass. He is most famous for being Joe Jackson's bassist and he played on TMBG's "Factory Showroom" and a few other things.

  • @suicidalpenguins4u flans is the chubby guy with black hair playing one of the most iconic guitars ever, gibson es-335. i've also seen them live about 15 times and have never ever seen flans playing the bass.

  • The feedback during the bass lead solo part fails. Great song nontheless and I'm greatful for the band to give us such great music. Factory Showroom is my fave.

  • brilliant, did they ever come to adelaide in 1996?

  • This has to be one of their most BWAAHH!!! in-your-face songs. Damn Good Times is another, I think.

I love the broken guitar string at the end

  • i like john linnell. he can actually make non rock instruments make rock music. for example... an accordian is a polka instrument. just check out THE FAMOUS POLKA by THEY MIGHT BE GIANTS. it is sort of a polka rock song

  • great now JOHN FLANSBURGH needs to retune his guitar

  • Comment removed

  • @phsycicmonkeys they always look sick at performances, not sick good, sick uggghhh i feel like i'm gonna throw up. but, who cares they are awsome.

  • What a rockin' performance.

  • They Might Be Giants are legends among weird people of the world.......I'm celebrating 20 years of fandom.......I've seen them 4 times.......just listen to "Boat of Car" or "Purple Toupee´" if you need your mind blown.......

  • @fooberdoobs purple toupee is my favorite song

  • Amazing song, amazing performance. amazing band.

  • I like how Flansy broke off all the strings at the end :D

  • Amazing stuff, they all really got into it, lol especially flansy wrecking his strings ^_^ id love to see them live

  • I love John Flansburgh.

    Best band ever.

  • i have to agree with j2n; this is the best performance of anything. ever.

  • I have never seen Linnell so animated. Great performance.

  • Damn, they deserve a better audience reaction than that! Maybe the end of it got cut off, but that performance deserved more than that weak applause.

  • one of my favorites

  • still. 1 month later. favorite performance of this song.

  • the best song about paul mccartney's corpse EBAR!!

  • man they all look young in this vid

  • See Purple Toupee by TMBG

  • This is still like the greatest performance of anything

  • oh my god -without even seeing your comment I was about to say that this is the greatest live performance of any song any band has ever done ever. Wow.

  • I've only heard this song by them and I already like them

  • @thanatos7in7my7pants is that dan hicky on drums

  • Then why are you watching this???

  • Then, if they really are the shittiest band in the world, why do you WANT to watch this?

  • You my friend are an idiot.

  • Looks like Flans wrecked his guitar strings at the end!

This was a great performance, I love this song!!

  • Dan Hickey is the best!!! OMG!!

  • Dan Hickey is a spectacular individual! :D

  • DAN HICKEY IS THE MAN, YEAAAAAAH <3

  • Dan Hickey awesome drummer, even more awesome at owning everybody else at everything

  • Dan Hickey wrestled a bear once while being a cowboy fighting an octupus in the land of valley central high school.

    DAN HICKEY <333

  • Dan Hickey is god

  • Yay Dan Hickey.

  • Dan Hickey's drumming is amazing!

  • Yeah! Dan Hickey!

  • i love that they play this a little faster.

  • Advil abuse + abstract thought x alternative rock ^ awesome = this song

  • What kind of keyboard tone on this Roland A30 is this?

  • This was actually February or March 1997, during their Australian tour. I remember I was a few weeks under 18, so I couldn't go to the Sydney gig. (Have managed to go to five since!)

  • They Might Be Giants are one of the best bands ever.

  • that's it im tabbing this song

  • my god they look so happy to be singing, truely enjoying themselves. Linnel, the smiles while he is singing with all his heart, mouth open so wide, it makes me happy to see it.

and at 1:28 where he smiles right at the camera makes me melt

  • Haha, I know what you mean xD I'm like a little puddle on the floor that's seeping into the carpet! xD

  • He has made my heart happy.

  • @InspectorZenigata Linnel is a little somber these days. Don't know why, but at Luminato, he only sang twice.

  • @InspectorZenigata I think they seem like they hate sharing the stage with each other

  • oh my god that is a beast of a tune!

  • 0:14 seconds, **He moves away from the mic to breathe in. xD This song and TMBG rock.

  • i love how flansburgh destroys his strings at the end of this song

  • I remember Flans doing something at that nature from a show two years ago at a zoo

  • Yeah, I remember that too, but I think it was during Twisting.

  • whats the drummeers name

  • Dan Hickey

  • Dan Hickey's the fucking man!

  • Indeed.

  • Man, I would love to hear a Giants performance like that live!

  • Trippy watching the rocking live performances of this song from that period. It's like a glimpse into some alternate reality.

  • Linnel = god. TMBG = win.

  • Dan Hickey rocks!!!

  • Hell yes!!!

    Dan Hickey is the man!!!

  • Who's the other guy on guitar? (not Flans)

  • Graham Maby!

  • you mean Bass?

  • I wanna give 10 stars!

  • Nah 50 stars at least

  • I can never stop watching Flansy jump around.

  • Linnell's rocking a serious pseudo-side bang there.

  • So much energy!

  • the johns are so awesome

  • Dan Hickey!

  • I love rare TMBG gems like this :)
