Also, what colour is that Tele in? I've been wanting to get one to put p90s on, but white doesn't fit well with the 'soapbar' colour, unlike yours, which the colours go well.
I played a really nice PRS last week with P90's and I can honestly say I was never a fan of P90's until then. Wonder how the P90 Antiquities stand up to the hum-canceling P90's that SD makes...
I see. but how do i do with the holes in the guitar? As long as i know you are talking about a 52 pickup single coil, are you? And the guitar has a space for a P-90 model...any idea? Thanks a lot!! you should post some more rockabilly sessions. I do sing a lot of that music, been studing elvis and beatles for a long time. :)
But do you want to put single coils on your TC90? I wouldn't do that. Fender P90s are not what I would call a vintage sounding soapbar, they are way hotter, and also ceramic if I remember rightly (unless they started using P90s by other makers, I dunno). Piece of advice: keep the TC90 as it is, you'll get amazing tones by changing stock pickups with some good Duncans (or by other good makers). And keep in mind that you can always fine tune your p90 by swapping magenets!
On the other hand, if you want classic Telly, get a new guitar! Hot Rod 52s are pretty good, also the 52 reissue is a great guitar if you can live with small frets and old fretboard radius. And the good ol' american series Telly is still a nice workhorse. All my Tellys are american series, modified in various fashions.
Then if we talk custom shop, well, those are amazing guitars!
Hi Arrigo!! Greetings from Argentina, damn you are good! love your country playing. I've recently bought a Fender Thinline TC90, its an amazing guitar, but the p90 that come with it are not so good. I wanted to buy the 69 or 72 reissue but they were much more expensive. Do you know if i can make the neck pickup sound more than "classic telecaster sound"?? Maybe this seymour duncan will solve it? and as for the bridge?? Thanks
I don't think a P90 helps getting a classic tele sound. I surely like P90s, they are fat without being muddy, always clear and defined, but that is not exactly the tele sound you've heard on countless recordings. As you can hear from the video, my Tele still retains its clarity and character, and it's a lot more fun to play, the new pickups kinda help and support your tone a lot!
I wouldchange pickups on the TC90, and maybe buy a good 52 reissue! ;)
I have a question, did you have to cut a larger pocket for the bridge. I was thinking about putting one of these in my strat but the pockets are the small ones that only fit the single coils. Do you think I could put one of these in my strat without cutting a bigger hole?
Hi! I had to cut a larger route, you'll have to do the same on your strat I think. It is not so hard to do, just some careful planning and a dremel tool. Good luck with your project! ;)
Which Wes Montgomery song was that?

You can, but you have to enlarge the pickup routes.

@kshantanu1993 but most of his old songs were done on a crappy old strat with a seymour duncan JB

I've never tried hum-cancelling P90s, but Antiquities really sound great, provided you're looking for a true vintage sounding pickup.

Great! Your vid got me very turned onto P-90's!
But please tell me - what bridge did you use and are you happy with it?
ryaandnice 1 year ago
@ryaandnice
It is a standard fender bridge, just chopped to accomodate the p90 pickup!

Antiquity P90s rock - I would suggest some black or chrome covers for use with that Tele but that's just me. Nice demo!

I agree, great pickups! And I'm looking for black covers too.
