  • i have to learn this song, i also play left-handed

  • very nice interpretation, i only want to note one thing. and it's not about the C# instead of C on the 6th bar. :)

in the description you say "Allegro", whereas the 1st movement of the Sonatina is "Allegretto". (the 3rd movement is "Allegro".)

    just that.

  • @hakrek Thanks! Odd that I never noticed that, it's correct now.

  • @BenMurrie well....if I would play it now I would definitely change the c# to a c, it's quite a bit easier to play that way. It was simply a reading error, I respect the score too much to simply change notes here and there.

  • Lovely interpretation my friend. I enjoyed it very much!

  • This was a marvelous performance. You must specialize in spanish compostions.

Just the right tempo ,adhering to the composer's score as well as your own sensation. THANK YOU

  • Very high quality execution and smooth, clean interpretation. Obviously a master level player here, but this sound surpasses virtuoso level.

  • An excellent interpretation.

I have to say that I prefer your version than Segovia´s version.

    Congratulations for that playing

  • wow!

    beautifully done!

  • big guitarist!!!! very master of string :)

  • that looks like a real bitch to play

  • oohh its a blast to play!

But it looks like a bitch to play left handed. But thats because im righty, and this looks akward

  • so impressive, i like it very much, you are really talented

    (and very handsome:) )

  • I think your version of this tune is the best. I have heard Segovia, and all the others, but their approach seems to complicate the song and for me it is difficult to enjoy. Your approach is masterful. Thank you.

  • fereico moreno torroba is my nev fav, good fucking job

  • Oh shot he's left handed. Yeyyooor

  • i played this piece and i think that is not so good...

    its excellent!!!

  • Bravo, this is one of my favorites.

  • great stuff.

  • Great technique and sentimiento, great sound, congratulations !

  • I enjoyed you performances. Can you please tell me your source for the Torroba pieces?

  • Great rendition! Quite a trickey piece, but you pulled it off quite well.

Personally I think you should try adding more colour changes. Youve got a great guitar and technique, I think with a bit of innovation and more right hand movement especcially, you could really improve.

  • In bar number 6 you play a C# whereas it's just C. PLease do correct that! On the whole, the interpretation is fine. Cheers.

  • Thanks, but as you can see if you read the comments that remark has already been made (by Garbaor), you can read my reply there.

  • Can you tell us if you get the samebeautifull results when you perform, when you look at the sound here and compare this to a live event ? Even Willams' amplifying soundssometimes poor

( listen to Julia Florida )

  • Thanks, Deerse. As you can read in a comment of mine here below, I did this with a pretty expensive condenser microphone, which gives good results. Of course my real sound is better than this, but that goes for practically all music clips here on youtube.

  • Williams' Florida clip sounds so poor because it is recorded with the mike of a digital camera and probably also has suffered from way too much processing & compressing afterwards. I can only dream of sounding as good as Williams (although I prefer his Fleta sound).

  • I think that every player has its own qualities. The whole dualism especially in the classical music cultures surprises me.Everything is different, not better or less. The real issue is wether you are able te communicate from the inside out and if you are confident and feel the mission to go out and play.

I agree Williams is a topplayer with a superb technique. You have qualities with an other accent.

  • YES i was just about to say that.

  • I also enjoyed very much the sound result.

Which mic and software did you use?

  • the mic was a Calrec, but that brand no longer exists. It was recorded to a HiFi VCR, back in '91. I edited it with Soundforge - applying some noise reduction and reverb. BTW: recently I've heard some pretty good results from another guitar player with a DPA 4060 microphone.

  • It's a pleasure to hear this music on guitar. Sure beats hearing those screwballs playing heavy metal crap!

  • Good job!

I must say something...in the measure #6 and the same for all the score, there's a C natural, that U make sharp, take notice of.

It's more easy to make c natural...

    Congratulations from Spain.

    Jr

  • thanks for your critique, on a classical guitar forum somebody had already pointed out the c instead of cis. I was surprised I had never noticed this, luckily it doesn't sound that bad - very few people actually noticed. Indeed the c natural makes it a lot easier.

  • Good job! Is your guitar a left hand model, or did you just string it upside down?

  • Thanks. This is a right hand model (A hand-made Asturias - John Mills model) with the strings upside down)

  • The guitar sounds good, but I wonder how doing that effects the sound since the sound board is designed with the treble and bass strings in mind?

  • well....the strings are only a few centimeters away from where they are when strung normally. If that makes a difference it will, I think, only be a small difference in volume. An interesting experiment would be to put two 1st (or 6th) strings on the guitar and hear whether they sound any different, if it does I suspect the difference will be minute.

  • Apart from that: whether a music clip sound good on Youtube has much more to do with recording technique and compression then with the instrument used. I've seen and heard a lot of classical guitar clips with very poor sound coming from a guitar I would love to own.

  • Yes that's true but the underneath of the sound board is braced differently in order acentuate certain qualites of the the sound and that is based upon a specfice treble and bass side. So if you put the bass strings where the trebles should be and vice versa, then you are in effect completely altering the intentions of the bracing pattern.

  • Of course I don't think this is crucial on the amateur level but if you start to perform in public I'd look into some specifically designed left hand models.

  • Just so you know, I thought the guitar sounded good even through my PC speakers & You Tube. But, I understand your point about not judging the sound of the guitar through the PC. I was asking you about that just out of curiosity from how it sounds to you in person and not based upon what you posted here. Keep playing you have a lot of talent!

  • Well....it's difficult to judge the difference, the only time I heard it strung (or is it stringed?) right-handed is in the shop where I bought it. When I had my choice down to 2 models they reversed the strings of these. As far as I remember I didn't hear any difference.

  • Anyway, I now have a special left-handed guitar (the modelo AB by Amalio Burguet). That sounds quite a bit better, but that's because it's in a different price-range.

  • If the guitar is cheap and the bracing pattern is the same on both sides then most likely it wouldn't matter. But on an expensive guitar I would guess you have to get a left handed model in order for the bracing pattern to be correct with the string placement.

  • Very, very nice. You have excellent technique and very good tone. A few spots where the phrasing could be better, but that's just nitpicking. Also, a little less head movement. It's a small distraction to the listener.

  • Less head movement, are you kidding? He doesn't move his head too much??? Have you ever heard of Julian Bream? LOL

  • Yes, many guitarists do it. Many musicians in general do it. Watch Segovia, for instance. He neither looked like a pompous ass nor a lost traveler when he played. ;-)

  • woaa

    great!

    muy bello

    viva la guitarra

    linda obra

  • Is it true?

It is not believed that you are an amateur. The professional performs.

Please teach with your Web site.

  • It is a very beautiful tune.

    Who is the player?

  • Sounds beautiful
