  • great lighting and attention to smooth detail

  • if you created an enterior than it would be epix

  • Reliant Class is just a variant -on- the Miranda class anyways. But for it to be around at that time it would have had to be refit at least once anyways.

Anwho, nice job on the CG, its really well done.

  • Looks like a reliant class

  • ...Must be a Miranda Class, no Reliant Class cruiser was ever named Nautilus. Yep, hull numbers confirm...

  • Auwsome

  • needs more lens flare ;)

  • Awesome!!

  • its a miranda class refit not miranda class.

  • @Takao71534

Yeah, that's why it says "late 24th century."

  • :) pure awesomeness, but tell me, isn't the flyby sound effect of the Jem'Hadar bugs a bit Cylon? ;)

  • @topasyout lol was thinking the same thing, however, great job man, looks amazing.

  • @topasyout

Hah! I suppose it is, at that. But then I looked through a bunch of ST episodes trying to isolate a JH ship's sound; the sound design in any given episode is so damn dense, it's nearly impossible to tell what a bugship actually sounds like.

  • watched this video listening to the city reveal track from tron legacy and it was perfect.

  • Awesome! One of the best shots on youtube! A W E S O M E ! ! !

  • WOW its so life like

  • I totally love the Reliant class design. Sweet. :)

  • Gotta love the Miranda Class Frigates

  • Nice Render, but I don't really like the camera work. Thumbs up anyway.

  • I feel a fanfilm coming on! :D

  • Good work. Seriously Good. Trek Addiction: Satisfied. :)

  • Oh, that's only THE BEST THING I'VE EVER SEEN..

  • Hello, you know what i tried to the opening of star trek 2009 like what you have done but i couldnt do it you are the first ive seen to recreate this i thinks really good well done...brill job.......

  • @PAULGANPAT Hey thanks! It was pretty challenging getting the camera to do what I wanted. I also wish I had made the textures and model higher res.

  • Very nice. Good to see a STII:TWOK-era Miranda-class starship again ;)

  • Nice Miranda class

  • Impressive... most impr-- woah, wrong franchise !!!

  • @Azakhiel

    LOL

  • hot!

  • That's incredible, the details are amazing.!

  • @ygvb1 Thanks!!

  • @andrictheman

    Love seeing a Miranda.

  • HOLY FREAKING WOW!

  • VERY well done!

  • Nice 3d work! The tracking is a little off on the star in the background. I'm not sure how it works in Maya but in Cinema 4d you can export the scene into AE and it will have the lights in the project file so you don't have to worry about tracking.

  • @sporefrog Yeah I know what you mean. Supposedly there's a way to do the same thing with Maya but I haven't gotten around to working that out just yet. Thanks for the comment!

  • U can make similar torpedo effects directly from maya by using point lights with light glow(optical FX) and rendering it with software but usualy making these effects in comp is faster and u have alot more control, anyway GREAT JOB

  • @TheIcemanModdeler Thanks. Yeah, I played around in maya with the different light effects, but it's just too limited compared to what you can do with AE plugins... Trapcode and Video Copilot's stuff blows my mind.

  • I like your work. How do you make a torpedo effect in MAYA? It is really interesting.

  • @SLASHZ2000 Actually the torpedo effects were accomplished mostly in After Effects... I keyframed a sphere in Maya to get the motion correct, then tracked it in AE and used Video Copilot's optical flares plugin for the light effect.

  • WoW-Wee! thats some sexxy modeling! keep it up, im really intrested to see if you can get the lighting effects which are featured in the JJ.Abrams remake.

  • @sniper002 Thanks!! I'm gonna keep trying. I think to get that I'd have to completely retexture it, though, just because the maps don't hold up to super-close shots.

  • I love the torpedo sound effects. They even have the effect of getting louder closer to the camera. Even though, in reality you can't hear in space, but oh well. Still fun!

  • @JumbaChick85 Heheh thanks, and that's true -- I was going for the Star Trek feel... they're not known for realistic sound effects. ;)
