How would this recipe go if cooking in a tangine? Would you add 2 cups of water still? Are the olives added after you take it out of the oven and stirred in to cook in the juices?
hello Alia, firt of all I love your presentations and the easy way you explain the process of each recipy ..!! love it !! I went to Morocco last summer I visited lots of places such as Marrakech, Fez, Rabat, Ifrane, Sahara desert and other small towns and I love the food !!! I fall in love with tajine all of the different kinds,,
thank you so much.I like all your recipes. I have a request please.. can you make videos showing what dishes should we serve with your popular morrocan recipes. like this recipes now what do you usually serve with it rice? what salad? x
good point! I really like the idea and I will work on finding a way to integrate this in the videos. Usually the tajines are served with bread (not rice).
yes, the sweetness comes from the carrots. so depending on the carrots you are using (for example, when I am lazing I use baby carrots, and yes, it comes much sweeter than when I use normal carrots)
ooo, I can't afford Saffron :( will it be ok without? and also, my family loves to EAT! and i mean Eat! lol so i doubled the recipe to feed them all :)
if you do not have saffron if you can still make the tajine without. Usually in morocco we use the 'real' saffron for special occasions not every day tajines :-)
the thick carrots require coring (you can omit the small ones). it's just for more taste and better uniform texture (the core of the carrots is harder). As for the core, I just throw it. sometimes I am so lazy, I just use 'baby carrots' in this tajine :-) the tajine comes out a little sweeter, but it does not bother me much.
They cook in Morocco!!!? No way! LOL! That's brilliant :)

Made this tonight. The only variation I made was to add 1 tbsp of honey for sweetness and serve it with cous cous rather than bread.
Nice and tasty. Thanks for sharing!

Hi alia,
thank you for this Tajine, but I have a question, why you didNt add Tomatos in the begioning?
anarchitecte1977 2 years ago
There are no tomatoes in this chicken tajine recipe - however, other recipes, especially the ones with lamb, will call for tomatoes.

you may be referring to 'turmeric powder'? you can print the recipe directly from my website "cookingwithalia (dot) com".

you can eat it with french baguette or moroccan bread (you can check out the bread video I made few months ago) - hope this helps!

Can you put some 'citron confit' in this tajine? And if yes, do you add it in the end?
zaalouk 2 years ago
yes you can, it will be a great add! you should add the lemons at the end, when you add the olives.
