I always loved how WCW always had a story to tell, no matter who was in the ring. They were rarely ever quiet, and they put over the smallest and most trivial of things. They spoke so much that they would simulataneously speak as Dave Pinzer announced the wrestlers coming to the ring.

Nowadays, the announcers are quiet for the introductions, and during the matches there isn't even that much talking going on. I'm mostly refering to WWE, since TNA does this sometimes.
