actually, this is looks very real to me. 1.) I never slip on a step, but when I trip on stairs, my toe catches. 2.) Basic physics tell me that if you are running forward that your body is now in motion. His one toe caught the edge, but the rest of him is still moving forward. That kick back is probably his body trying (unsuccessfully to regain balance and motion). 3.) Him curling up was his body trying to protect itself. Another defensive mechanism (i.e. fetal position).
