if you mean the echoed rims/handclaps by saying 'pulled from kraftwerk' you might think about 'musique non stop', which was released by kraftwrk one year after this track by cabaret voltaire
@sivoxestcanta Yeah, know what you mean. Stunning track. All those influences. Can't help thinking of JG Ballard's "Crash". Did you catch Richard H Kirk on the recent BBC 4 Synth doc?
Do you mean "Synth Britannia"? I watched it on YouTube, an excellent film. I love all these synth bands from the genuine era. Sheffield in the film looks very much like my native city, very industrial. Cabaret Voltaire I'd known since late 90s but only now begin to fully discover how many great tracks they penned. As for JG Ballard, he's probably the most rock'n'roll writer ever
with artists as different as Joy Division, The Normal, Human League and Klaxons referencing his books.
This is definitely pulled from 70s Kraftwerk, but in an awersome way. I dig everything these guys did from their 70s tape loops to the 90s techno junk. Every album can be pretty much listened to from beginning to end.
good to see you here ,thanks for all the nice play list although I can barely go through them all due to slow connection. Do you know if theres anything from methodology on youtube Im so dying to hear what they sound like with chris back in the day.
You're always welcome! And good to see you around too! I've passed through the channel to find some stuff from their Methodology (1974 - 1978) era and couldn't find anything at all. No one's uploaded it yet. Unfortunately. It is a fantastic box-set! Buy it if you haven't yet. It's not (that) expensive at all.
But there's a few downloads off it on their official Brainwashed site instead. So check them over there! Go to "music" section. Find "Methodology" title among their discography. Click on it. When it opens up click on the [MP3] sign next to the song titles and the download will start. "Makes Your Mouth Go Funny", "Calling Moscow" and "Oh Roger" are the only ones allowed. There you go! :-)
Thanks I'm planning on buying it that will be my next Cab Volt CD have you heard Acid Horse's "no name no slogan" his stephen and Richard's stuff with Ministry ? I think that might be Mallinder's only single after 1990.
You're welcome again! You'll get to know a lot of electronic music and the society in general when you buy it.
Yes, I have heard Acid Horse's "No Name No Slogan" and must say it was/is a pretty explosive project. It came out in 1989. Check your General Messages! ;-)
well there is synth britannia documentary on how british culture adopted german kraut form as an influence. joy division adopted motorik rhytm of neu etc.
This video was shot in Holland, wasn't it?? Just pay attention at the traffic signs!!
To return to Rome or Berlin again...all roads lead to Rome, don't they? Check the sametitled video by the Stranglers on here and compare it to this one!! ;-)
Early Human League were just okay as well. Don't hold anything against them at all. All the stuff they did from "Being Boiled" (single, 1978) up to "Dare!" (album, 1981) was/is simply essential. They were hugely influenced by Kraftwerk too!!
Yes, I did hear "Toyota City" indeed. Marvellous track. ...In the beginning their early stuff was strange but later well accepted too.
My first touch with the Cabs was "I Want You" video on the good ol' MTV circa 1987 and the rather splendid "The Covenant, The Sword And The Arm Of The Lord" LP my father got it for me shortly after.
Lots of true (mostly electronic oriented) artists site the Cabs as a major influence! :-)
this song iz MAD. thanx4posting.

It's like a British version of "Autobahn" by Kraftwerk. Send shivers down my spine. Classic urban synthesiser gloom.

...without "Crash" there'd probably be no "Mute Records" (home for CV too) at all, so he's synth pop godfather by default, I think!

Did you hear Toyotacity or ...(I must find the Mini EP/Next time!)
My first touch with the Cabs was "Just Fascination" in a club
and the terrific "Voice of America"LP.I think Bourbonese Qualk were inpired from the Cabs as well.
