@JickNohns popular music these days sucks ass, but four tet, nicolas jaar, burial etc have proven that music made on a computer can be as stirring as organic music.
the second part of your statement is still true though.
@glaxglax yeah probably a few minds still understand music as a passion rather than the opportunity of singing about Money and cars and for the worst, calling it music. I respect everyone's choice of entertainment i really do but music is music and entertainment is entertainment. Nicolas Jaar and the rest are positive musicians and i truly respect them for that. And i hate it when my reply comments and ever too long. Dang.
i like clapton but hes plays to soft and clean to me. i watched the live version of layla, it has a great riff, but he just plays like "robot" to me. jimi puts emotion,agression and soul in his music.jimi is more remembered for how advanced he is rather than his technical skill, even though i stiil favor his "sloppy soul" style most of the time. srv tryed to play like jimi but he plays to much like a robot too, he is not even close to jimi, also jimi created the rock and metal sound to me
@720slugger You have to check out clapton when he was with Cream , after cream he lost something imo , maybe it was the chemistry beetwen jack bruce ,ginger backed(backer) and eric that made his guitar playing much better when he was with cream
@THESpoonyLegs The truth is, they were friendly rivals .... they pushed each other to be better.

I know this might sound crazy as some great bands and songs have come and gone since Hendrix appeared but you could almost say the guitar reached its pinnical with Hendrix and while some have raised it slightly from there the biggest leap forward was made by Hendrix His music was so amazing it combined so many elements of rock, blues, Soul, R&B, jazz his music couldnt be slapped with a tag and his influence has spread accross all the major spectures of todays music its just crazy.

my top 5 would have to be duane allman, jimi hendrix, eric clapton, jimmy page, and allen collins. i could'nt put them in any order though there all amazing i find it hard to even say a top 5 cos theres so many other greats like steve gaines, carlos santana, joe satriani, steve vai i could go on for ages there all awesome but in different styles.
Eddie Van Halen is basically a guitar robot. No emotion at all. Though, wtf are people doing comparing guitarists? Just listen to whatever you like and leave the comparisons be.

@xProfeshCamperx first ac/dc ? you dont get shit i guess, some staff will never change, people who think they know about music when they clearly don't !
i hate putting guitar players in order, but jimi would definitely be in my top 5. but eddie van halen is one of the most boring and egotistical guitar players of all time.
@CrazyEiche i have, and all it did was confirm what i thought of him in the first place. a great guitar player puts his/her soul into it (hendrix is a classic example). all eddie does is show off his technical ability (and even when it comes to that ive seen better).

@thebakerlair Matt Bellamy and Angus Young shouldn't be on that list. I mean they'er good n'all but quite unoriginal when you think about it.

I dont think there is any better honor in the world than having jimi hendrix cover your song.

StevO1942 3 months ago
i hate putting guitar players in order, but jimi would definitely be in my top 5. but eddie van halen is one of the most boring and egotistical guitar players of all time.
alucard6679 3 months ago 33
@alucard6679 like satriani
jackets298 3 months ago
@jackets298 exactly like satriani
alucard6679 3 months ago
@alucard6679 listen 2 van halen 1, will blow ur mind, guitarists like rusty cooley are pretty boring 2 listen 2
CrazyEiche 3 months ago
@CrazyEiche i have, and all it did was confirm what i thought of him in the first place. a great guitar player puts his/her soul into it (hendrix is a classic example). all eddie does is show off his technical ability (and even when it comes to that ive seen better).
alucard6679 3 months ago
@alucard6679 i agree with everything except halen being a boring guitarist, i think your just trying to start some stupid you tube argument.
