  • You can go to the web site "Food Network" and get the full recipe from Alton. His recipe is rated the #1 best turkey recipe. Really is a great recipe!!

  • yummy doing this again this year!!

  • Altons recipes and methods are gonna make my thanksgiving extra special this year.

  • All the girls in my house love Alton, I love how he explains things in simple terms, and you do not have to hunt down the ingredients from an exotic food source. Alton Brown, is A-OK in our book!

  • Did this for thanksgiving (my first turkey) juicy and flavorful! @frontier33 did you rinse it good after brining?

  • @nery0h I haven't made one this way, yet. I plan to very soon. I was only concerned with a 'salty' taste to the meat. Thank you!

  • Ok. Probably a dumb question here, but...is the meat salty tasting after the brining process? Thank you in advance.

  • @frontier33 Not really--the salt is mostly used as a way to change the balance of the pH in the cells. Salt could kind of be described as the gentleman who holds the door for all the other flavors you brine in.

  • @TheJarredDavis Thank you so much! I plan to do this real soon. Probably for Christmas, or New Years. Thank you again for your reply!

  • @TheJarredDavis Great episode with the Barbie and Ken dolls

  • So well explained thanks a lot!

  • I would follow Alton Brown off a cliff. Along with his method of turkey preparation for Thanksgiving, you all should try his stove top mac-n-cheese...unbelievable, trust me.

  • I'd like to baste niece nancy's ass

  • @flazz684 Your a sick pedophile

  • Alton is one of my hero's!

  • From now on. All our turkeys will be brined. All the family agreed, it was the best ever.

  • HI - A FAN OF ALTON HERE! I don't have any dried allspice berries... what can i replace it with??? Any suggestions please ??? :)

  • I have a question...

Can i still brine my turkey to enhance the flavor even though it has already been pre injected with 8% solutions from the factory?? i wanna enhance the flavor, but ive read that if i still brine it, the turkey will come out too salty??? Any tips or suggestions?!?! I need help, Please!!

  • Most people that I've heard from on the subject do NOT recommend brining a turkey that is injected with a solution (too much salt).

  • Last year I had the same problem. I just added 3/4 cup of salt and the turkey came out AWESOME!

  • We just did a 22lb butterball. It came out awesome!

  • @Dreby14 thanks for the tip! you just saved me some money. LOL

  • iDrummer,

Without salt, there is no brine. The brine needs the salt to carry the flavors into the bird

  • I'm brining a turkey for the first time this year, does it really make a noticeable difference?

  • yes yes yes , this is our 4th year doing this and will never cook it another way.

  • great, thanks

  • It makes all the difference in the world! Just got done eating my second brined bird and both are by far the best ever

  • I tried this technique last year to make my first turkey EVER and my family thought that it was the better than any of the turkeys that they've ever made for thanksgiving. This is a must-try recipe. Kudos Alton Brown.

  • Shirley has an eviel look about her .

  • I MUST try this!!!

  • @ziberteck Also google Melinda Lee Turkey Brine and you will get all your turkey related questions answered, and also an amazing brine recipe! I would link it but with the link it won't let me post a comment. Hope I helped some, Happy Thanksgiving!

  • @ziberteck the rule of thumb is about 10 minutes per pound but start checking 3/4 of that

  • Man, he's young there.

  • I use a brine that has apple juice in it, and my turkey turns out amazing every time. Last year no one could stop talking about it! Everyone should try out a brine, works every time!

  • Hi, Can you please tell me the recipe that you said with the apple juice please. I would like to know that kind of recipe with the one you use.=D

  • Would you mind sharing your recipe?

  • Question, if you brine the bird do you cook it the same?

  • love good eats!!!

  • Brining the bird definitely works

  • Good Eats IS one of the best shows on food network...
