  • What is "realistic" when setting a weight loss goal? To achieve worthwhile goal, one should set a specific goal along with a timeline; so, if I want to lose "x" amount of pounds in 90 days, HOW would I determine what's realistic? I have no idea. I DO know "excites me". If I lost 30 pounds in 30 days, I would do a double-back flip! Is that realistic?

If I lost, let's say, only 2 pounds in 30 days, I would be annoyed. Yes, technically, it's a loss, BUT gee whiz.

  • Great points, Mark! I think people expect weight loss to be a perfect straight line and it NEVER works that way. And we're all different as to the speed that the weight loss happens. Finding your groove and sticking with it no matter what will keep your expectations from being inflated.

  • The beard looks awesome, Jimmy!

  • THANKS! Trying to keep it trimmed and it's doing well. :)

  • I think the main thing about weighing yourself daily is that you have to know your limits. If seeing the scale go up makes you depressed and does just the opposite of what it should do (motivate you) then you shouldn't weigh yourself. For me, it's a daily check to know where I'm at... and what I need to do that day to get where I want to be. I've thought about going low-carb I absolutely LOVE bread, carbs.. mmmmmm. I feel like it's my main weakness. Looking forward to watching!!

  • EXACTLY! That's why we're all different. Thank you for sharing.

  • this is just so great. I'm still fairly new at doing Atkins. Jimmy, your videos really inspire me. Thank you for doing them!

  • You're gonna do great on your healthy low-carb lifestyle Cheryl! STICK WITH IT! :)

  • jimmy, already mentioned on facebook, but really liking the facial hair. keep it like it is right now

  • Trying to...I trim it every few days so it stays this length...it's growing on Christine, too. :)

  • WOW!! Just what I needed!! Thanks for the references to previous episodes.- really really helpful! You guys are so funny! Can't wait to cruise with you.

  • WOO HOO! That cruise will be here before you know it!

  • Thanks for the video you guys. Very helpful and encouraging. By the way my nick name is Pookie Lol Take care you two

  • That's too funny Pookie! Christine calls me that ALL THE TIME!

  • Enjoy watching them to, so thank YOU. This was a great video, and your SO right on target...I was like you about the scales I would hit them several times a day because I was so excited how the weight was melting away...but anyway, hey thanks for the great vid budd(ies)!

  • THANKS John!

  • LOL

  • Glad you enjoyed it! :)

  • For me a low carb diet has been a lifestyle change. I was bulimic for over 30 plus years and this way of eating actually took that desire completely away. I have been able to maintain my weight with out guilt and need to purge. I just celebrated my 5 year anniversary of being on low carb. I do not cheat but eat only legal foods but never count carbs either now that I have pretty much reached my goal within 3 or 4 pounds.

  • CONGRATULATIONS Skeeter! I'm so proud of you.

  • Great video guys! I think is a bigger problem than most of us realize. We tend to put way too much pressure on ourselves to see certain numbers on the scale. I'd rather lose inches than pounds any day! :)

    Keep up the good work!

  • I agree, Amy! THANKS for watching!

  • I realized today that my low-carb exectation is that I will lose weight fast and put it right back on plus extra--just as I have done with traditional dieting. I've low-carbed just over a month and lost eight pounds. MY improvement in overall health is enough to keep going, which I know will produce added results eventually, but I really am scared of losing only to regain it all. Sounds wiggy, but it's true.

  • There are a lot of "wiggy" people who believe that, Amelia! But you just gotta keep doing what works for YOU and forget about all those things that would sidetrack you from doing what's right.

  • I am turning 32 yrs old this month and I recently watched the biggest loser show and it has truely inspired me. I tried the low calorie diet and didn't lose, so I started the atkins diet and its been 1 month, I've lost 24 lbs so far, so i'm pretty proud of myself ;) lol I come across your channel a few days ago and subscribed, because you are also an inspiration to me. I know that I can do it. I just finally come to the point in my life where I really want to be healthy for my daughter.

  • Leslie, you are gonna do great livin' la vida low-carb. Let us know how we can help you continue your AMAZING success!
