Amazing interpretation & playing of a piece i thunk i never wanted to hear again. Pletnev seems to recreate before our very ears. The sheer beauty is astonishing. The most individual player of our time.
it s incredible how lyric, how sensitive and full of colors and emotions... really this is one of the best interpretations of this masterpiece. And you understand immedietly, from the very first seconds, that you listen to a very different approach. great pianist Pletnev.
p.s. it s a pity what happened in july... pletnev a pedofile...
My favorite composition by Chopin, in the hands of a poet; many thanks for sharing this, which joins my small and select list of favorites, all different: Moiseiwitsch, Lipatti, Rubinstein's 1957 recording, and especially Horowitz on RCA. Most of these can be found on YouTube.
@thetunr Nah, I saw the pun, may be before you :-) Did not want to approach that way, however, not to embarrass your punning abilities by pointing out that such pun compares completely different entities: a musical form and a ground consistency. But you left me no choice :-)
Mikhail Vasilievich Pletnev, founder of the Russian National Orchestra, was charged Tuesday with rape of young boys in Thailand....No smoke without fire....This is a dirty bastard pianist artist who prey on vulnerable young and poor boys in Asia. Hell to him and his performances! He deserves to rot in hell! Boycott his performances! Evil pianist!.Bring shame to his art!
I didn't know he could play like this. In this recording he's up there with anything Horowitz did in terms of nuances of tone colour and dynamics, beautiful sounds (esp. the pianissimos), and rubatos that make the piece live.
oh my God, I didnt know this pianist... he is sensational! I love very much the Barcarolla of Evgeny Kissin. But now this one fascinates me very much. He is a really great artist. Thanks for linking
My first choice for this work, along with Lipatti. A special performance. Overall, it's one of the slowest ever recorded but he justifies absolutely every fraction of every second. From around 6:20 onwards, it's beyond perfection.
misha! please please, don't waist your time to conduct (although you are a great conductor too)!!! You are one the most important pianists of this century. the most beautiful and touching music i ever heard..........YOU ARE MY HERO!
05:40 - 06:05 magic what happens in left hand!

Disappointing. This boat is obviously moving through the swamp.

@lehrent
It's a Barcarolle, philistine, not a Marsh. ;)

@thetunr; Marsh? Sort of a swamp. Must be a Freudean slip. No, it is more of a Mash :-)

Yes, there's definitely something freudian in not getting a pun.

And did it take you almost a week to make up such a bloated claptrap?
thetunr 1 year ago
@thetunr It took me almost a week to become aware of your reply. As far as bloated claptrap, this is a complex concept; I did what I could :-)

@thetunr I loved your pun.
