Ooooerrggghhh, I hate the American Box Office Guy voice for historical dramas... it sounds like at any moment Steve Carrell or somebody will wander in and I'll want to stab myself in the eyeballs for the rest of the film. English accents for English period dramas, I reckon.

LOL this is so funny! Great job. I've not seen North & South yet. I will...after I read the book first. I can't wait to do so (i've got so many classic books on my list that I want to read, the list just keeps getting longer!). Can somebody give me a short summary of what North & South is about without giving away too much? Thanks.

Love the both north & south and Pride & Prejudice but I like the BBC version of Pride and Prejudice best

LOL.. this is good..! But I have to disagree, for me RA is Thornton, MM is Darcy. I have to say that I like Thornton better than Darcy now, just because he's more complex. He has problems other than being rejected by a girl.

I love this! I've seen one of these Pride and Prejudice trailers for Gilmore Girls, and one for Harry Potter, but I must say, this one fits perfectly! I do think that Mr. Thornton and Margaret perfectly fill the roles of Darcy and Elizabeth, but in a rather more fleshed out way! Love it! :)

man Macfayden's voice didn't match Richard's but omg this was brilliant.. I laughed so hard at the part where Mrs. Thornton is telling Margaret "Mr. Darcy is to marry my daughter" where Mr. Darcy (Richard A) is her own son.

Strange hearing the different voices but absolutely brilliant all the same. It must have taken you ages to match all the scenes with the words. And in my opinion Richard Armitage makes a very good Mr Darcy...dare I say even better-looking.

My god, but you're clever!! I laughed till I cried. North and South was written 50 or so years after Pride & Prejudice - Elizabeth Gaskell probably thought "Oh well, I can repeat that story. No-one who read it then will still be alive". Even today, you only have so many story lines, but they just don't write them like they used to. Congrats and keep 'em coming.

no. they both have similarities such as boy falls in love, girl refuses then she falls in love,But the circumstances are totally different. In Gaskall's novel she includes more about society and the different customs of the North and South of England.

Did you know that she wrote this for Dickens mag. and he thought up the name.

Even so, p and p has nothing about mutinies, deaths, factories an the lives other than the rich and middle-class but the poor and workers too. This is the beauty of North and South and how it is distinguished from Pride and Prejudice.

Yea, I agree. Don't get my wrong. I love Pride and Prejudice but, North and South has a more realistic aspect on what life was really like. North and South has so much suffering to it you really care about the characters.

I agree. I love them both but North and South is more realistic and doesn't just focus on a love story. We get a better insight into life in industrial towns at the time.

Yeah that was something the BBC wrote in, but Gaskell says about her book that she wished she had written a better ending for it, that is better circumstances, but she was rushed and pushed to finish by Dickens.
