I hope that most credit card companies won't charge the $30 to $90 fee if a consumer charges less than $2400 annually. Perhaps the new credit laws can be amended as the credit card companies find new ways to charge us fees for our accounts.
Looks like your only saving grace for an inconvenient bank that won't open branches near you, even if it is a fucking rich-as-hell corporation that lots of people use, is Internet and online banking. Hell, if this were the 1980s, I'd be kind of fucked using Chase after I transferred colleges.
But at least I don't have to deal with shitty-ass Kroger back here in Missouri. God, that store sucks.
The funny thing is, I got my original chase account back in 2006 when I went to college in Columbus OH, but then when I transferred (Missouri resident) to Mizzou in Columbia, I couldn't find a single branch! Typing in mine or Columbia's zip code yields nothing within even a 50-mile radius. Or 30-mile, whatever the number is. What bullshit. Chase calls itself a big national bank that you can trust? I can get an account in Ohio but a few states to the east, I'm fucked?
Do the banks actually divide the interest rate on a savings or other account by 12 for monthly dividends?? That's kind of lame. 1/12th of less than 1%. Lol
The SAME day as I registered for a new account! How lucky is that! Usually you gotta wait a long-ass fucking time for your debit card, even if you live near the bank (at least I think that's the case).
I really don't get why it feels like I'm being shafted on interest with my interest checking though. the rate is less than 1%, but even 1% of $500 or so is $5. My monthly dividends are only pennies. does anyone know why this is?? Is this usual for savings accounts?
Personally I left Chase about 2 months ago. I was supposed to get a new debit card b/c the old one was about to expire, and then it turns out, without warning, they sent me the new debit c ard at the address RIGHT BEFORE I upaded my address on the record (on the same day, no joke). And I didn't even find out til a few weeks later when I called Chase.
I said fuck em and switched to Tigers Credit Union (affiliated with Mizzou). I was actually able to get my debit card the same day.
Inactivity fees?? Lol. But you guys do know you can always sue them if the charges out of hand, and they actually breach contract, right? If they're found in violation of what you agreed to when you signed to get the credit card, obviously that's wrong. But if you signed up for these kind of fluctuations, you're SOL. Read the fine print. ;) or get a lawyer or someone to help
Citi tried to screw me by raising my APR to 29.99% I decided to do a debt consolidation loan at 4.25% through my 401k. I will have that payed off by July. Citi is getting NONE of my business.
Actually, my payments go in 2 weeks ahead of the due date online. They raised my APR arbitrarily. After looking it up online, apparently, Citi has done this to many of their customers. I have already opened up a new credit card after paying off my Citi card at a much lower interest rate to have for emergencies. I don't like being punished for the Citi's poor investment strategies.
Watch the video again. New laws go into effect next month and in advance of this credit card companies are trying to figure out how to keep their profits. I got a letter in the mail today. My C card company cant charge me an over the limit fee after 2/20/2010. My APR went up.

It's very simple, close your accounts at all those banks that stole our money and destroyed the economy .. invest in your local bank or credit union!

helltrackrider,
Are *you* a teacher's pet for the banks, too??
Talk to your neighbors. The behavior of the banks in the past few months is atrocious.
I won't use any sexual imagery because there's enough of that in YouTube comments already but rolling over and playing dead is not the answer.

Man you post a lot for a guy who can't get a credit card. :)
No reason why the gov can't pull some gouging legislation out to stop this.

I probably should just go to regular checking anyway. God, banks are so irrational sometimes.

Change you can count on. Courtesy of Washington DC's Meddling.
Who in their right mind would support an Administration that continues to feather the beds of the few at the expense of the many.
And if you don't succumb to their demands they made a direct threat to your precious credit rating
This might be Change but there is NO HOPE in it.

Cut my credit cards up years ago. Fk them banksters and their outrageous fees.
Bank of America works with the Chinese government tracking down dissidents. Don't do business with this evil corporation.
