I'm from Grand Rapids, which is about two hours away from Detroit where Elzhi came from. this dude inspires me, and im hoping that i can surpass him someday. I remixed this song, its in the video response.
i saw Elzhi the other day in NY... he's the man... he chilled with everyone that was part of the crowd ater the show... i cant wait for the re-release of his first album.. if any rapper deserves fame its Elzhi
Real talk more then half of their fans came posthumously and that is the only reason they tried and succeeded building a legacy off them- that's it- people think thug life- they don't think digital underground and PAC dancing his ass off
@ hiphoplives1 really though Elz is a monster and if you wanna talk about people biting styles son anyone out of NY NJ Philly or surrounding areas including your Biggie and Jay Z Nas so on and so forth jacked their style from Big L - And real talk I am a major fan of PAC and Big both but only reason they are "Legends" is because they got smoked and the propaganda surrounding them fed by the media made them that way- Half you mofos think Hiphop started with those guys and you couldn't be farth
@xhoni123456 fuck that yea elzhi is great, but don't ever say he"s better than eminem, go on the street and ask information on eminem everyone can answer (: than ask about elzhi no one knows them (=
@choclade but if u ask any real Detroit MC...which im pretty sure they're gonna have more knowledge on whats good in hiphop... they're gonna say ElZhi or Royce da 59 is the best while Eminem is as good if not right behind them... Elzhi and Royce is the rappers favorite rapper... popularity doesnt matter an the accollades dont matter either...
@010les yes, i knew that... and i agree as well that Eminem was once the best in Detroit... Royce and Elzhi are in their prime killin shit... they droppin an album together... Black Milk is putting out good music too.. he overall puts out the best music due to that his beats are crazy and his rap skill have been improving with each album he puts out..
@choclade so, basically you're sayin' that eminem is better than eLZhi just 'cause he's famous and eL ain't? wtf is that? does that even matter to a real hip hop head? do you even care about hip hop? lyrically eLZhi>eminem and anybody you can think off today smh...
@rmsg120nsb elz is sick as fuck, but I think Tech n9ne is better lyrically, all around.. but elz DEF sounds like some slaughterhouse shit. I dont know why slaughterhouse signed Yelawolf, to be honest. They shoulda signed elz.
@PhelonLogik tech n9ne is without a doubt a great lyricist but eL's more consistent and more complete, like i already heard him doin' everything on the mic. he fucked with so many concepts that anybody thought of doin' em before, like "guessing game" but everybody has favorites. btw, it was shady records who signed yelawolf not sh and i think dude's talented, i think eL's better too though, ain't gonna lie. eLZhi rejected the 4th major label this week, so signin' him to shady seems far for him.
Anyone else think Royce deliberately rhymed words like: baby, maybe and jay-z @ 2:18 when he talked about ppl not touching him? I mean listen to it "... maybe jay-z or maybe... NOT" It's so obvious that it could rhyme with SHADY. And the song came out before Eminem and Royce became friends again, rigth? I dont think it's a diss but more like that he's telling us, em is on his level (rocye would probably tell you em is better now that they are friends again) but he dont want to mention his name.
Its amazing how these kids dont know how Elzhi is. These new kids like J. Cole, Jay Electronica, or even Mr Mainstream Drake are ok but in my opinion they got NOTHING on Elzhi.
Are you kiddin me? Pac would rip any track hes on hes not as lyrical but you can relate to his stuggle pound for pound pac a better elzhi is a fuckin monster tho...
@imstupidhigh That's where the difference is. Anybody can pour their heart out with simple rhymes, but the question is, who is creative and talented enough to do it in a sick lyrical manner? The ability to put words together in complex patterns takes more thought than just simply expressing your emotions.
You know what I would love to see. Mainstream hip hop vs. Underground KARAOKE. They listen and read the lyrics 2-3 times then try to recite each others' songs.
Rick Ross: "I end careers, years, ...ears...(stutters, gets tongue twisted, catches breath) lifted like the beers in cheers.
Elzhi: " I wanna buy my bitch every bag.
And she ain't ever, ever, ever gotta take 'em back.
I wanna take my bitch around the globe.
Hawaii, hang gliddin' in the mountains, shittin' on these hoes. (WTF is this?)
I don't know who killed it more. Elzhi or Royce... Either way, one of the best hip-hop songs of the '00 I've ever heard. Top 10. And Royce is my favorite rapper of all time!
@jonnyg4508 don't sleep on royce. most of the time he's joking around. he can rap his ass off though. he's said it's easier to play his char and just rap about guns and his dick, but when he wants to get down, he will.
yo all im sayin is get off tupacs fucking dick.....damn i know the nigga is a big influence in music and he can relate to alot of people, but lyrically he can not stand in the ring with elzhi and royce point fuckin blank....get off the fuckin band wangon you non understanding wordplay ass fans, and start liking what the fuck you like and stop going bye other peoples opinion like "tupac and biggie are the best" damn is that all yall fuckin know?? many many rappers in 2010 will lyrically body pac!
It is sad when you need to bash/get so mad/antagonize when trying to expand someones views on music. There are lyricists out there that don't get half the credit they deserve, and many people love the mainstream. But no one gets the point when you resort to craziness and over dramatic rants.
i keep reading tupac aint this, tupac aint that, tupac would have the weakest verse in this song... shut up, when they asked royce which group of rappers could rival slaughterhouse, and guess what royce put tupac in that group of rappers that could rival slaughterhouse, so what does that tell you coming from royce the man himself. enough said!!!!!!!!!

Pac was always regarded as much more than just a rapper. for what this track calls for, i don't see tupac having a better verse than Royce or Elzhi.
not gonna lie this shit is classic!! black is easily one of the best producers in the game and elzhi & 5'9 can both spit with anybody out there. detroit is a problem talented artist no doubt check out apollo brown dudes got beats for days.
Yo, royce nickle nine is crazy good don't get me wrong, i love his slaughter house stuff and his solo stuff i got all his stuff but YO.....eLZhi just destroys these beats, his lyrical ability to consistantly create flawless patterns without any emphasis or effort is insane, i mean for real, DL all his shit, and DL his free cd off his website the shit is plain nasty, the kind of shit where you constantly rewind the song to hear an amazing line 50x over again.
man this is my SHIT elzhi is sooooo slept on it disgusts me he went harder than royce and here and that says a lot cus royce is a monster great ass song!
this was thefirst track i heard of elzhi and i became imediatly a fan but after i heard lookin for me el started to be one of my favorite emcees of altime, real hiphop
@illnigma Thank U so much for speakin' the truth, instead of conforming with the rest of society like a robot. I respect U for keepin' it real. Biggie and Pac are NOT the saviors of hip-hop. It's a band wagon, and i'm sick of people worshipping them. No disrespect to the late MCEES tough.
@illnigma i'm not exactly disagreeing but how can say that when you don't even know what he would have spit? he died at 25 right at his prime so no1 can say how he would have evolved with his style or lyrics. yeah i know what your sayin this isnt his rapping style and this isnt a track you can picture him on but the dope underground producers of today werent at his disposal back in his time. all i know is the game would be different today if he were alive.
@illnigma Hmm I Seriously Doubt That. If Pac Still Was Alive And He Was On This Track The Views Would Be More Than 10 million just because hes on it...
@liesjuh187 yeah the views would be higher, but tupac will still have the worst verse on this track i dont care what year it is...........1995 or 2011...doesnt matter...tupac never could rap like that, and i dont think he could ever.....no disrespect but get off the tupac bandwagon and have ur own point not everyones elses..
@illnigma thats because tupac is not a lyrical rapper, hes more poetical. i bet you that elzhi or royce could never make a timeless song like dear moma, sell 10 million records, or be as legendary as pac. fuck outta here. being lyrical is one aspect to being a COMPLETE artist. canibus is one of the greatest lyricist to pic up a mic, but cant make a song to save his life. so until royce or elzhi make a classic album, please dont mention pac, in the same breath with these niggas.
@hiphoplives1 these peoepl are artist and pac is a horbile fucking rapper therfor he woudent fit the the sumbject of rap waka flocka is better then pac a rapping
@HRodz1212 im willing to bet anything your a white kid, with braces and a pocket protector. im mad at myself for even responding. waka flacka better than 2pac huh.
@hiphoplives1 lmao, sellin' doesn't mean quality and elzhi makes way better songs than pac, listen to the fuckin' preface album before you get your ass in the internet talkin' shit, elzhi is the best in every single aspect, if elzhi ain't complete then anyone can be it. pac's a legend and he's not complete at all. he has songs with meaning and feelins and el has it too, but elzhi makes everything harder because of his patterns and metaphors, his the dopest and i like pac and nas very much in did
@rmsg120nsb so if elzhi is so complete, why isnt he a legend.? why hasnt he sold as many records as 2pac, or b.i.g.? what hip-hop accomplishments does elzhi have? NONE. elzhi whole style is stolen from nas and kool g rap. two rappers he will never be better than. just cause you can rhyme multi's all across a fucking track doesnt make you nice. i like elzhi he's a good artist, but muthafuckas sound crazy trying to put him over a legend, and he hasnt done shit worth mentioning.
@rmsg120nsb if artist who feel selling records doesnt mean shit, then they should take their ass and stand on a fucking corner and rap for free. so dont give me that bullshit dude.
@hiphoplives1 i ain't tryin' say that artists don't need to sell but if they put the value of money on top instead of skills, then he ain't a good artist. elzhi didn't accomplished none cause he's underrated and he's underground, he stole the style from g rap and nas as the other lyricists in the game, c'mon, if chopin' the track with patterns and still havin' a good message to deliver, storytellin' and makin' tracks like "colors", "guessin' game" doesn't make him a legend, then what else does?
@rmsg120nsb i respect your opinion. but you cant say elzhi is BETTER than 2pac, until hes accomplished the things 2pac has and MORE. just because a pitcher can throw a 100mph fastball, you cant automatically say OH hes better than nolan ryan. he has to ACCOMPLISH what nolan ryan has and more to be considered BETTER. Elzhi might have the POTENTIAL, but you cant take potential to the bank. like i said elzhi is a great artist, but he has eons to go to be considered better than 2pac.
@hiphoplives1 as i said, he's underground and underrated, he would never sell like pac did cause the game has changed.you got wayne and gucci mane sellin' like pac and they ain't shit, skills and content don't sell anymore AND pac is overrated, it got worse after his death, there was and are artists better than him, but it's subjective.the mainstream rap scene shows that sellin' doesn't mean that much when it comes to talent, so ofc you'll always be right if the real shit doesn't reach the masses.
@rmsg120nsb exactly you proved my point, pac sold over 10 million records with one album, in a time where skills and content DID count. elzhi tried with kanye and the falling song was strictly for the ladies. they buy over 70% of mainstream albums. and nobody was feeling it. is it pacs fault elzhi is underground? no its elzhi fault hes underground. what people forget is its still the MUSIC BUSINESS. the whole purpose is to sell records. thats why he does it as a CAREER.
@rmsg120nsb its not im possible to make hits without sounding like jeezy or rick ross. look at nas made you look. it was a hit that got airplay and was street. look at dmx party up.
@hiphoplives1 what i'm tryin' to say since the begginin' of this conversation is that when you are in the underground for 12 years, sellin' is not the priority, makin' good music is the priority and when it comes to hip hop, this guy is the best doin' it. you talked about g rap and he really is underrated as fuck, am i wrong? and made you look was in the transition period, you didn't listen to so many bubblegum rappers as you do now.
@hiphoplives1 plus elzhi in his interview about the preface, said that people who listened to motown 25 would think "ok, he's a battle mc" but he made the preface joint and he showed that's not just like that. he's really complete and insane, the only arguement you can use against me to say he an't better than pac is the money. with all due respect to 2pac, i still love his music and i grew up listenin' to him, elzhi is better though, i guess that's my opinion and you'll have respect it.
@rmsg120nsb take this example you can have a boxer with a slick style (elzhi) against lets say a hard puncher with a simple style (2pac). yeah the crowd may want to see flashy dodging and weaving, i admit its nice to look at but when that boxer with the punching power hits your ass, youre going to feel that shit. thats pac, he may not be the flashiest, but when you hear his songs that shit hits home and you feel it.
@illnigma True shit my nigga, Tupac ain't that great of a lyricists. but Biggie or Nas would've been dope in this track too. and of course the tupac dickriders will attack you.
@gronetlv7 dont get me wrong, tupac does his thing, but when it come to some lyrical shit tupac is not in that box, even know these dumb ass niggaz might believe he is...smh....sometimes i think motha fuckas dont understand the difference between, metaphors, punchlines, lyrics, shadow boxing, multi sylables, against a regular rapper rapping with a wack ass flow! i get tired of explaining!
im 16 im on a quest to bring real hip hop back iv been making beats for some time now i just finnished making a remix to cormegas one purpose song of his new album the original has no beat so i thought it be a good idea please check my channell and listen. thanks
Sha Stimuli is most definitely a great rapper, but not the best the two guys on this song are more skilled than him. I like Sha for his content over his lyrical abilities.Peace.
**** that elzhi is one of the best lyricist of our time and this is one of the verses i'd put up as proof don't believe me check out set it by slum village and listen to elzhi's verse the second one
damn i just started gettin into slum vill and elzhi kills it in every song.... dude is nice as fuck. he bodies like 90% of the so-called "lyricists" in the mainstream right now
I agree. Same with Kansas City and the Midwest. some of the greatest hip hop ive ever heard comes from the midwest. its like unless your from New York Ghettos or West Cost Ghettos you aint shit to the mainstream cats. Its fuckin wack shit. this guy is straight nasty. check Tech N9ne and atmosphere. two others that need more respect than they get. Sadistik and Grieves are pretty sick too.
I don't know man, Tech N9ne isn't for me. Atmosphere is good but again not all that into him, i respect the dude makes good music, just not quite my thing. And the west coast is slept on as well! SNOOP is like the only one gettin cred, theres some up and coming dudes like PAC DIV, Dom kennedy, and UNI that are really switching the west coast up with and underground feel. Kinda like the tribe called quests, and de la souls.
Finally someone feels thte same way about atmosphere as I do, i think they are lyrically good, I just don't like them much. I got one song by them though.
And have you heard of this west coast dude named "Blu" He is sick, list to "My world is" "Cold Hearted" and "So(ul) Amazing", I'm telling you Blu is the dude is. He is sick.
I checked out dudes Pac Div, I heard mayor, and its just a little annoying how his voice is so proper and stretches out his ER sounds.(referring to the 1st dude), but I'd like to see them in the media, its better than whats in it now. They have a good instrudtry sound to them, but they are not lyrical beast, but they are good.
Then I heard Whiplas, its pretty good, they alrite with the lyrics, they get on some nice beats, good flows. I check more into them, so any song by them u suggest.
Yeah pac div and UNI and DOM Kennedy are not the SUPER metaphorical type of hip hop. They are fairly straight forward and easy to follow a long. Which is nice cause you can relate to some of their stuff. Whiplash and mayor were songs that were made into videos to try to catch those who are ignorant to real hip hop. By all means those are not their best songs. I suggest ones like "Paper" - pac div, and the song Pac div - pac div.
@jhammaster my opinion and knowledge has grown a lot since I made that comment and that statement I said isn't true at all. I can't wait for Elzhi's new album "The Feed"..... how about you?
I remember El from Slum Village, Detroit artists got some serious heat. Underrated its a shame, but they real hip hop!

Pac didn't save rap and he might not have ill verses, but it was his lyrics that gave him the authority to rock the mic. Both had different styles.
Anyways, Elzhi is raw

Yo, royce nickle nine is crazy good don't get me wrong, i love his slaughter house stuff and his solo stuff i got all his stuff but YO.....eLZhi just destroys these beats, his lyrical ability to consistantly create flawless patterns without any emphasis or effort is insane, i mean for real, DL all his shit, and DL his free cd off his website the shit is plain nasty, the kind of shit where you constantly rewind the song to hear an amazing line 50x over again.

@illnigma true, but pac's a legend and its not his kind of beat
0pravy0 1 year ago
@illnigma thats because tupac is not a lyrical rapper, hes more poetical. i bet you that elzhi or royce could never make a timeless song like dear moma, sell 10 million records, or be as legendary as pac. fuck outta here. being lyrical is one aspect to being a COMPLETE artist. canibus is one of the greatest lyricist to pic up a mic, but cant make a song to save his life. so until royce or elzhi make a classic album, please dont mention pac, in the same breath with these niggas.

@hiphoplives1 i thought were talking about music now how i look dumbass now get off the computer go suck ur self of fag
HRodz1212 1 year ago
@hiphoplives1 lmao, sellin' doesn't mean quality and elzhi makes way better songs than pac, listen to the fuckin' preface album before you get your ass in the internet talkin' shit, elzhi is the best in every single aspect, if elzhi ain't complete then anyone can be it. pac's a legend and he's not complete at all. he has songs with meaning and feelins and el has it too, but elzhi makes everything harder because of his patterns and metaphors, his the dopest and i like pac and nas very much in did
rmsg120nsb 1 year ago
@rmsg120nsb so if elzhi is so complete, why isnt he a legend.? why hasnt he sold as many records as 2pac, or b.i.g.? what hip-hop accomplishments does elzhi have? NONE. elzhi whole style is stolen from nas and kool g rap. two rappers he will never be better than. just cause you can rhyme multi's all across a fucking track doesnt make you nice. i like elzhi he's a good artist, but muthafuckas sound crazy trying to put him over a legend, and he hasnt done shit worth mentioning.
hiphoplives1 1 year ago
@rmsg120nsb if artist who feel selling records doesnt mean shit, then they should take their ass and stand on a fucking corner and rap for free. so dont give me that bullshit dude.
hiphoplives1 1 year ago
@hiphoplives1 i ain't tryin' say that artists don't need to sell but if they put the value of money on top instead of skills, then he ain't a good artist. elzhi didn't accomplished none cause he's underrated and he's underground, he stole the style from g rap and nas as the other lyricists in the game, c'mon, if chopin' the track with patterns and still havin' a good message to deliver, storytellin' and makin' tracks like "colors", "guessin' game" doesn't make him a legend, then what else does?
rmsg120nsb 1 year ago
@rmsg120nsb i respect your opinion. but you cant say elzhi is BETTER than 2pac, until hes accomplished the things 2pac has and MORE. just because a pitcher can throw a 100mph fastball, you cant automatically say OH hes better than nolan ryan. he has to ACCOMPLISH what nolan ryan has and more to be considered BETTER. Elzhi might have the POTENTIAL, but you cant take potential to the bank. like i said elzhi is a great artist, but he has eons to go to be considered better than 2pac.
hiphoplives1 1 year ago
@hiphoplives1 as i said, he's underground and underrated, he would never sell like pac did cause the game has changed.you got wayne and gucci mane sellin' like pac and they ain't shit, skills and content don't sell anymore AND pac is overrated, it got worse after his death, there was and are artists better than him, but it's subjective.the mainstream rap scene shows that sellin' doesn't mean that much when it comes to talent, so ofc you'll always be right if the real shit doesn't reach the masses.
rmsg120nsb 1 year ago
@rmsg120nsb exactly you proved my point, pac sold over 10 million records with one album, in a time where skills and content DID count. elzhi tried with kanye and the falling song was strictly for the ladies. they buy over 70% of mainstream albums. and nobody was feeling it. is it pacs fault elzhi is underground? no its elzhi fault hes underground. what people forget is its still the MUSIC BUSINESS. the whole purpose is to sell records. thats why he does it as a CAREER.
hiphoplives1 1 year ago
@rmsg120nsb its not im possible to make hits without sounding like jeezy or rick ross. look at nas made you look. it was a hit that got airplay and was street. look at dmx party up.
hiphoplives1 1 year ago
@hiphoplives1 what i'm tryin' to say since the begginin' of this conversation is that when you are in the underground for 12 years, sellin' is not the priority, makin' good music is the priority and when it comes to hip hop, this guy is the best doin' it. you talked about g rap and he really is underrated as fuck, am i wrong? and made you look was in the transition period, you didn't listen to so many bubblegum rappers as you do now.
rmsg120nsb 1 year ago
@hiphoplives1 plus elzhi in his interview about the preface, said that people who listened to motown 25 would think "ok, he's a battle mc" but he made the preface joint and he showed that's not just like that. he's really complete and insane, the only arguement you can use against me to say he an't better than pac is the money. with all due respect to 2pac, i still love his music and i grew up listenin' to him, elzhi is better though, i guess that's my opinion and you'll have respect it.
rmsg120nsb 1 year ago
@rmsg120nsb take this example you can have a boxer with a slick style (elzhi) against lets say a hard puncher with a simple style (2pac). yeah the crowd may want to see flashy dodging and weaving, i admit its nice to look at but when that boxer with the punching power hits your ass, youre going to feel that shit. thats pac, he may not be the flashiest, but when you hear his songs that shit hits home and you feel it.

Slum and them are slept on! DETROIT is like a hideout for hip hop.
ToneCapone14 2 years ago
WhiteTomlinson021 2 years ago
I don't know man, Tech N9ne isn't for me. Atmosphere is good but again not all that into him, i respect the dude makes good music, just not quite my thing. And the west coast is slept on as well! SNOOP is like the only one gettin cred, theres some up and coming dudes like PAC DIV, Dom kennedy, and UNI that are really switching the west coast up with and underground feel. Kinda like the tribe called quests, and de la souls.
ToneCapone14 2 years ago
Yeah dude ima deff check those guys out. ive never heard of them and i feel ya on Tech and Atmosphere. They arent for everyone. Respect man.
WhiteTomlinson021 2 years ago
Serious, I don't like atmosphere much, I only like one song "Whos that cat" but I think they are overrated.
0194D 2 years ago
Finally someone feels thte same way about atmosphere as I do, i think they are lyrically good, I just don't like them much. I got one song by them though.
And have you heard of this west coast dude named "Blu" He is sick, list to "My world is" "Cold Hearted" and "So(ul) Amazing", I'm telling you Blu is the dude is. He is sick.
0194D 2 years ago
I checked out dudes Pac Div, I heard mayor, and its just a little annoying how his voice is so proper and stretches out his ER sounds.(referring to the 1st dude), but I'd like to see them in the media, its better than whats in it now. They have a good instrudtry sound to them, but they are not lyrical beast, but they are good.
Then I heard Whiplas, its pretty good, they alrite with the lyrics, they get on some nice beats, good flows. I check more into them, so any song by them u suggest.
0194D 2 years ago
Yeah BLU is dope! So props for bringing him up.
ToneCapone14 2 years ago
Another song I would check by pac div is No No. Pokes fun at some mainstream crap.
Listen to murs at all? I feel that dude has some good music, and he rolls with 9th wonder which is NEVER a bad thing.
