  • Haha I had two of their albums and I LOVED them, but I didn't know they were on tv.

  • Yeah, it's sure a shame that people look back on creepy-ass television shows and call them creepy. Because seriously, what's wrong with a six year old singing about having sex? *shoots self in the face*

  • i was about 7 or 8 at the time and thought it was a great show - it was just adults who read more into it than was there.

  • THEY RETURNED...

  • When I was a little kid, I was OBSESSED with the Minipops. I would sing and dance along to the records and watch VHS tapes of the videos over and over and over again. Ah, memories of the eighties.

  • Even in the 1980s, there was plenty of worse songs they could have done. Imagine eight year olds in mascara and lipstick doing the following:

Touch Me (I wanna Feel your body)

Male Stripper (Strip for me Babe, Strip for you)

    I Want your Sex

    We Call it Aceeed

  • Most kids probably think "making love" just means hugging and kissing.

  • a much of chipmunk voices and little children with tons, tons of make up! Sing songs such as my baby etc.....gime a man after midnight etc.. As an adult watching this..yes its wrong. What ever happened to seasme street?

  • Paedophiles are not really interested in age of consent youths in make up and clothes dressing like minors...But minors dressing up and acting beyond their years is right up their street ( see above ). Also hetrosexual males and female who get turned on by school uniforms is...Mmm ???

  • why couldn't they change the lyrics and use it in kids program?

It would be more creative and show would continue with respect.

  • I can't take this, not this early in the morning...

Oh, why the hell not. I've put myself through this much. I'll sit through this and down it with some... Oh, fuck it's gonna take a lot to scrub my brain clean of this.

  • Scary!

  • they do were alot of make up

  • Ha, if this had happened in a different decade than the 80's it wouldn't have been such a big deal, unfortunately the style in 80's pop was to put more makeup on than a common street walker.

As a concept of course this is the kind of tripe they still and try and serve up to audiences.

  • i remember when i was a little kid and wanted to play with make-up i used the same amount, and you think that is pretty at that age. and walking in the heels of your mom and sing songs. i agree that sometimes the outfits are not correct, but the rest...i am 19 and when i was 6 i did thesame at home with my friend...so what's the big deal...like only pedophiles lookes at that show. like they said it was ment for kids, kids pretending to be famous...that still happends, but not on tv

  • Danggg that's sure a LOT of make up... They look like grown up midgets (if you look at them from far away) o_o

  • If you were an original mini pop we used to watch you all the time! Loved you!!

  • 1:28 What a stupid argument. Though it is sad and poor quality, KidzBop has still been able to execute the same idea.

  • The NUMBER ONE cause of paedophilia is ... sexy kids! {*giggles*}

  • AGREE

  • This is so wrong, sexy kids have caused so much bother

  • Crazy.

  • Yes, what would you like?

  • child abuse !

  • Sincerely,

    Enraged in Enfield

    :-)

  • wtf i thought they were better

  • I can't believe that I use to find the Mini Pops cool!

  • lmao... i loved this though!!!...... i grew up watching them..

  • Man, that is wrong on so many levels.

What were the girls' parents thinking when they allowed this ?

  • Wow, I never saw this show here in the States. Somehow the word "appalling" just doesn't seem to cut it. My God, Boy George wore less makeup.

  • "He gives me lovin' like nobody else, I like the way he turns me on"--that's wildly inappropriate and would probably not happen today on TV.

  • That's nothing compared to: "Night time is the right time, we make love ..." Pure filth. Someone channel the spirit of Mary Whitehouse!

  • @bunnytube omg that woman was the bane of peoples lives, she was off her rocker

  • I remember the show, and at the time nobody I knew saw it as anything other than "kids pretending to be pop stars". Everyone's obsessed with paedophilia these days.

  • Britain certainly is! I don't mind the little girls "dressing up" and singing songs -- but I do object to lyrics about "making love"! At least Kids Incorporated in the USA had the good sense to alter the lyrics of saucy songs.

  • I watched the show too and I was are parents that went ape-shit about it and fought to get it off the air...I personally was never allowed out of the house, looking like a mini adult, most of us weren't. We didn't want to be famous either.

  • "Everyone's obsessed with pedophilia these days." Yes, especially the pedophiles!

Putting a 5 or 6 year old girl in heavy make-up and night clothes, then having her sing, "Nighttime is the right time, we make love," is just in poor taste. I don't think it's horrific, but it's pretty indefensible. I don't think it takes twenty years of hindsight to see that either.

  • @StanPomeray

i remember when i was a little kid and wanted to play with make-up i used the same amount, and you think that is pretty at that age. and walking in the heels of your mom and sing songs. i agree that sometimes the outfits are not correct, but the rest...i am 19 and when i was 6 i did thesame at home with my friend...so what's the big deal...like only pedophiles lookes at that show. like they said it was ment for kids, kids pretending to be famous...that still happends, but not on tv

  • @StanPomeray I agree. I used to watch it when I was a kid and I loved them! Same as I used to run around singing Madonna's "Like A Prayer" without actually knowing what it meant...Kids are pretty innocent and the girl in the vid who was actually on the show seems to think the same thing. It wasn't geared to an adult audience. Sadly there are some screwed up people in this world.

  • i sooooooooo wanted to be a mini pop

  • id like to have seen them do The Stranglers Peasant in the Big Shitty

  • Just one more thing to add. At school Xmas parties in the UK many a young girl will dress up like an adult female i.e. wearing high heels and make up. To me it is just part of learning about life i.e. gradually gaining a bit of an insight about what it's like to be an adult. Should we ban girls from imitating adult females at school xmas parties?!Most girls love to dress up and wear make up. Boys tend to want to dress up as super heroes. If we are not careful we could end uplike orthodox Muslims

  • That maybe the case now, but in the 80's our parents are were more protective and Britney was barely born.

  • I would also add that in America they have still have children's beauty pageants. The girls when adults don't seem to have had a problem with these beauty pagaents, and enjoyed the dressing up, dancing etc. The judges I think are mostly women. We can be over the top protective and see danger everywhere, the media (news)are making us all paranoid.

  • Have you seen those poor kids that get put into beauty pageants, they are sickening... 4 year old little girls made to look sexy is vile and the kids become the cash cows for the whole family.

I was a kid when this was on, I liked it, now as an adult it I see why our parents got it taken off the air. You can bet they know about the slime that get off on watch sexed up six year olds sing.

  • I remember this when it was first shown. I thought it was crap. Terms such as sexual abuse and paedophile were relitively unheard of back then. To me it seemed no different to kids dressing up playing mums and dads. I remember girls used to play with make up and try to dress as adult women. They used to wear their mothers ( over size for them)high heal shoes etc. What I'm arguing is that we should relize that at the the time it was considered harmless fun. Kids used to sing pop songs anyway.

  • Never watched minipops...and now...i don't ever plan to...

  • Do you reckon this is the programme that made Gary Glitter into a kiddy fiddler? If not, I'm sure thats what it did to other sick perverts out there! Mind you its the parents I blame for pushing their children into this paedo-friendly circus. Even when I was a kid watching this I knew that if was a bit iffy.

  • totally vile

  • Oh my god!!!!! I used to love Minipops when I was a kid!!!!!! I sang along to it all the time.

  • Omg the Red head girl reminds me of chucky

  • same

  • Scary

  • the mini pops are nothing compared to the child beauty pageants in the states thats worse

  • It doesn't make it right, though. They are singing adult lyrics, and although it may appear funny or cute to normal people - unfortunately there are perverts out there who get something rather more disturbingly entertaining out of this kind of thing. It's very sad and I'm glad that they don't make things like this anymore.

  • Man, that is so wrong.

  • that is about as much makeup as any kid would put on themselves, the only reason people had problems with is that it is professionally done, and a regular (non tv) kids would be a big mess on their face, and really, look at stage actors up close and tell me they aren't wearing 5 pounds of makeup

  • i love the minipops, and its now brought back and my little one loves it too!!! WOOHOO

  • I so used to run around my kitchen dancing with the minipops!! Rofl!!

  • I LOVE MINI POPS!!!!

my aunt grew up on them and so...did...

    I!!!!

there the cutest little things :P

  • lovely little mini pops girls-come and sit on uncles knee; he'll give you a sweety...

  • I love minipops girls...

  • Mini Pops was JUST for fun.

It was just singing and dancing.

People are looking into this too much.

    I LOVE MINI POPS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Eh, you are weird.

  • It was JUST for fun!!

We all grew up with Mini Pops and it was just fun to watch

Like a big dress up game !!

  • this is actualy kind of sick. the songs that they made them sing and HOW MUCH MAKE UP DO THEY NEED?! I mean they were 6 years old!!

  • WTF is she singin about making love for!:O

    shes five years old!

  • Disturbing!

  • Very Disturbing....I used to love them when I was a kid but never realized how creepy it was.

  • Davros at the start is far less scary than these kids... Hated the show at the time for just being plain awful but now it looks really sinister. Pedo's must have loved this stuff... surly you'd get arrested for producing it nowadays???

  • OMG I loved this I wanted to be on this show so much lols. I watched this religiously and was gutted when it stopped. Looking at this now, it's so wrong in every sense. A Paedophile's dream!

  • ummmmmm........

  • It's difficult to know where to begin explaining what is wrong with this.... WHAT WERE THE MAKERS OF THIS SHOW THINKING?? Jeez....

  • "Night time is the right time - we make love"???? WTF?? And that was a five year old girl singing as well. Madness.

  • i was quite young when this was on, i don't remember it. i suppose little kids watching it would enjoy, but when you got them wearing more make up than Kat Slater it IS disturbing.

  • I am showing this to my daughter. When I was a kid I had a Mini Pops album. It had Video Killed the Radio Star, Waterloo, Super Trouper, Dancing Queen and many other great songs that I still find myself singing occasionally.

  • disturbing! don't let pedderasses watch this

  • It was AIMED at kids, performed BY kids, having FUN like kids. Anyone with a sick or jealous mind will read into it whatever they want to read into it. Minipops was a huge success worldwide selling millions of records.... No other kids group have ever equaled their success... So much so, people still talk about it 25 years on!

  • insane!

  • Davros!

  • Have to say was pretty disturbing at the time and it is now. Like those kiddy padgents where they make kids be Miss 8-year-old america. Or Miss 8 year old Essex..

  • I agree tuiservice,i was a kid myself then, and i loved the minipops.Didn't we all try to emulate our favourite singers when we were kids? Its a sorry state of the times when all this is remembered for is apparently pandering to paedos.

  • "A biblical amount of rubbishness!"

"It's wrong on more levels than I can even imagine ..."

"They're always looking slightly off-camera like they're being threatened."

    LOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!!!!!

  • I know ... this still makes me larf & larf! Excellent commentary on that video ...

  • hahaha you wierdos! they were little kids singing and dancing like kids do, imitating grown ups.. LIKE KIDS DO! Anyone with a clean mind could see it was adorable! I had all the albums so shut your mouths! LOL

  • Damn right!!!! Well said

  • They look like those poor little pagent girls in the US, luckily our parents went nuts about it and got it taken off the air.

  • Dark, dark stuff.

  • sound like bananarama but their voice speed has been increased lol

  • In the great days of the 80's, Minipops was nothing but pure fun. Sadly these days, all tbat's mentioned is 'terror/paedo/gun". Minipops was innocent fun, and all the people like me actually watched it as kids in the early 80s will remember it as such. FACT!

  • you are jonathan king and i claim my five pounds.

  • how much make-up do dey hav???

  • guess it looks pretty dodgy by todays standards, then again so do those 1970's sex education programmes with bare kids jumping into swimming pools.

  • this is so creepy

  • I'm not a politically correct person by any stretch of the imagination, but I find little girls dressing like 30 year old tarts and singing about 'turning me on' and 'making love' dangerous. Those girls were not old enough to make any rational descision about what they were doing. It's a shame it's got to be that way but sadly it is!

  • As the former Minipop said there it was aimed at kids. I remember watching them back then and didn' pay attention to any of the lyrics, the makeup or anything like that. To me they were just fellow kids my age who were on TV.

I honestly didn't think that they would be allowed to sing stuff like that, but presumeably the creators of the show thought it would totally go over the Heads of kids watching it, as well as those singing it.

  • This was a nice show for youngsters but sadly the politically correct brigade got it banned. It must have been great for the kids to play at being stars. Still nothing is seen as being completely innocent anymore, I think that is a shame.

  • Mini Pops! We had them in Canada too! Good lord. Funny. x

  • yer this was a great show an dit was on in a era when kids didnt now anything sexual till they were old enuf so we neva saw anythin wrong it was just great entertainment and its society todaythat will make it wrong

  • Yep, it was a show for kids, and kids were innocent to it. We just envied them being on TV, but unfortunately it may also be true that certain now-infamous-unsavoury-adult-individuals were watching it also. I know thats a horrible thing to think and say but it may have been true.

  • oh i love the Mini Pops! yea loopylou!

  • what the fuck? They were bloody awful and don't even get me started on their version on Sheena Easton's "9-5"

  • i liked the mini pops, i have one of the ablums still kicking around ..

  • There's nothing paedophilic about this. Kids dressing up and singing pop songs, big deal. How pathetic.

  • Well, I sort of agree but "Night time is the right time - we make love" sounds disturbing coming from Sheena Easton, let alone a pre-pubescent!

  • Dressing up and singing is fine. Dressing like a tarty 30 year old out on the lash is not fine.

  • God this is freaky.

  • this is because of sick paedos - this was an innocent time and i loved this show - bless their little hearts

  • geez it seems like everyone hated it! why?

  • This is bizarre - the only song i remember off 'Mini Pops' is here, Shy Boy. I only came on this site to get a random Bananarama fix...
