Should of used peco instead of momo, he has more hp and can also heal the party and you can transfer might across to him. Put him under a master that will raise his attack straight away and he is 10x better than garr aswell!

Also Shadowwalk should go on Momo, to counter her low accuracy. (Ryu has plenty of other options)

Of course, this is just my opinion, but that's what i would do if i played this again.

@Cyril86 If you used peco and momo you would have to leave rei out. Rei's weretiger move is one of the best on the game! That's why rei shouldn't have shadowwalk on him as he can use that. Peco can learn or be given the moves to help ryu and rei such as war shout, might, influence, barrier, speed etc. Noticed you transfered sw across to ryu for the maria fight. :-)

Peco is actually REALLY good. stick him under Fahl for the whole game and put in lead in attack formation. 100% reprisal rate in this formation plus godly defense and HP plus recovery makes him a beast at keeping your other two members safe from physical attacks. I use Ryu and Rei for my main attacking force while Peco is there for being a tank and recovery purposes

On the other games Dragons work like a summon, but on this one u could stay in dragon form and control its actions... the dragon combinations were awesome too!

1 and 2 definitely encapsulated the golden age of RPGs for the SNES; I still think part 3 outdid all of them. If not THE best story, it's one of the top 3 best stories I've ever seen in a game. Music is also top-par yet underrated

best way to fight the elder is to learn shadowwalk and have rei speed up ryu and have momo cast might on ryu if you worry about rei's weretiger but this is just 1 method that i think is a good 1 without using weretiger

it's because the human form of the elder is a very old man... if he gets high damage a few times in a row, he becomes unable to use his turn because of his "bad back" which means he has a back ache due to his age... that's the explanation for it... =)

Nina also helped to spam (although since it's not a stat up I think only 1 is useful per) Barrier while Ryu (even though he learns barrier) can then spam shield.

My Nina was a beast on him. Enlighten + Meditation + Magic Sword = 300ish damage for only 2 AP but I suppose switching for Momo woulda been more effective to spam might on Ryu.

Finally not an annoying epic boss! Perfect level of challenge. Best fight in the game. Not too easy cuz you can't use the overpowered gene abillities (especially fucking game breaking Force) and not too challenging and annoying.

The game offers quite a few cheap shots like seen in the video. I mean, even with so many buff-ups, the boss managed to whipe out a single character with Double Blow *glares at Capcom for giving most characters low HP, with the exception of Garr and Ryu*

...I'm not complaining though. It just adds challenge :D

I don't remember playing with that too much and that might explain a bit of the difficulty level, caused by lower stats / missing key skills.

Influence guarantees the next attack of those under berserking or control will attack the selected target and from every turn thereafter (generally after the 2nd/3rd) there is a high chance that 'influenced' character will revert to plain berserking. You can't, for example, go an entire fight using Influence just once - They will still eventually have a chance of smashing you in the face, but you're right, if the person who cast Influence dies, the effect fades totally - Funny movie :)

My general experience with 'Influence' involved no deaths, and yet eventually the character I was influencing would at some stage decide to still attack my own party assuming I never refresh the Influence. This is not a result of an enemy casting influence, nor the influence using character suffering a death.

Anyhow, not like it matters now as I stopped playing this game many many years ago so I wouldn't bother arguing, thats just what I had encountered.

It's been a while but if I remember correctly there is an ability early on you can get by watching enemies, something to the effect of ordering all monsters to focus on a certain teamate. Well anyway if you watch and learn that move you can order rei in were-tiger form to attack specific monsters so he doesn't go crazy. idr if it works on the uncontrollable kaiser or not...

The only thing about this game that bugs me just like other Rpg's out there is the lack of diversity in enemy boss skills. I would have liked to see lots of cool moves in a boss fight that might just give you a run for your money.
