i really want a bala. i have a 20 gallon but nowhere to put him when he gets too big. i need him to be happy too as my fish are non aggressive. can i get him? what do i doo with him when he is too big? donation?
its been so long but probably around the ten dollar mark, i suggest a tank that is 36 to 48" long, this was a stretch for sure, they need swimming room, i am now into saltwater
@arbizzle420 i have 2 125 gallon tanks. room is no problem. but im gona raise them in a 20 long. then when they get like 7 inches then put in big tanks. they will be in the 20 long with 4 pictus catfish....insted of bala sharks what would you recomend for a 20 long with 4 pictus catfish in it. wat type of fish. i want guppies but they will get eatin..any suggestions?
balas would be fine being raised in a 20 long for sure, maybe some type of barb, they are pretty rugged fish they would last, or some kribensis....? its up to you, do your research though, i didnt
i had 14 tiger barbs but i thought it was crowded and i thought they would be happier in big tanks so i put them in the big tanks. im not looking for and barbs...
lol my female betta looks almost identical to yours. Very nice tank but a bit small for 7 tiger barbs. Crab looks cool but are you sure hes fully aquatic?
Can anybody tell me wether my lighting is good enough for my plants. i have a 20 gallon with a total of about 19 to 20 watts lighting flourecant full hood. i want some low lighting plants like anacharis, java moss, java ferns, anubias, some amazon swords if possible. and i would like to know if they can be planted in pool filter sand or sand. and i would also want to know if i still need to fertilze them.i dont want to use co2 because i cant afford it plese help!thanks.(ANYBODY PLEASE RESPOND)
SOMEONE PLEASE REPLY!!!! HI I AM PLANNING ON GETTING 5 OR MAYBE SIX TIGER bArbs FOR MY TEN GALLON> WILL THEY BE FINE IN A TEN GALLON FOR THEY're LIFETIME AND WILL THEY BE hAPPY??? BY THE WAY I AM NOT PLAnnING ON PUTTING ANY OTHER FISH IN THE TANK JUST THE BARBS.
you should just go look on classified ads around your town and look for good deals, if ya find something, let me know and ill tell you if its a good deal or not
yea thats a great idea, you dont want to cheap out on filters and heaters because you dont want them to break down on you. is it your first tank? if youre from the ottawa area you should check out the ovas website. lots of information
no not my first lol i have a 10 gallon ive had it for 7 years i find whisper filters work great and a heater i have brand name radianl i think been goign for 7 years:) and also do you use chemicals in your tank?
well a bala shark is not the best idea, but you can do it (they get very big) but maybe kissing gouramis, dwarf gouramis, maybe rainbow sharks, german rams, any mollie you want, tetras (neons are cool), guppies or cory cat fish those are just some sugestions there are loads of other fish.
If I could start over I'd go with 4-5 smaller danios (dwarf danios if you can find them, zebras get a little bigger), maybe 4-5 harlequin rasboras, 2-3 guppies, and the bottom feeder of your choice.
it should come out to about 24" of fish which is kind of a heavy load, but shouldn't be a problem with weekly or biweekly water changes.
Black substrate and a blue background.......Ugly.

crabs need brackish water at the least. there is no such thing as a true freshwater crab.
