i played this for weeks on end as a geeky social misfit in my earlier years, along with doom, heretic, rise of the triad and numerous others..... didn't wash, didn't go out, didn't have girlfriend, depressed and eating hotdogs and Pepsi from seven eleven..... moral of the story..... you young gamers out there.... get a life.....

Ah man I LIVED this game!

It had such amazing atmosphere- Blood red skies, creepy birds cawing from trees hung with dead people in cages, raging demons, thunder, lightning... some of it was cheesy I guess but as a kid I couldn't play this enough. Memories <3

ScornedbySara, agree with you 100% but sadly Heretic/Hexen, Blood, and Shadow warrior are the most overlooked games, and they were pretty damn good...It's 2010 and I'm still playing all these older FPS games.

this was when raven did good games. and not games like Wolfentein (the new one), Quake 4 (it's ok but compared to 1 and 2 it sucks) and Singularity (HUGE disappointment after seeing the trailers... it had potential).

Hexen II was made in the Quake engine, Heretic II in the Quake 2 engine.

Dosbox was able to work and record the DEMO just fine, but when I try to mount the full game it keeps saying that the directory doesn't exist even though I'm doing exactly the same thing I did with the demo. >_>

Hexen - one of the greatest applications of the Doom engine. It featured polyobjects (sliding and turning walls/doors) and action code scripting (ACS) which allowed for complex level functionality never before possible in a Doom-engine map. Now, an extended form of ACS is possible in Doom levels through source ports such as ZDoom and Skulltag.

This is when shooters were fun. I would take Doom, Duke Nukem, Blood, Redneck Rampage, Heretic/Hexen and even Shadow Warrior over Halo, Bioshock, Gears of War, Crysis, Lost Planet or Prey any day!!!

Yeah theyre classics...

Ive always preferred Doom over Duke, always found Duke "too offensive", i disliked Redneck because i felt it ripped of Duke 3d but i kinda like it and love the revolver sound.

Heretic is a game im very fond of playing it on network many times with a childhood friend, as for Hexen, its the same, i remember the day my brother bought it and i sitll have the box.

But it was kinda old at the time, but i didnt matter
