  • @Immaculate416 Sorry, no swearing allowed on my channel!

But to answer your question, a "bonnet" is the English's way of saying "hood". :-)

  • I totally get what she's saying. While the 302 post faster lap times than an E90 M3 it's still not a sports car. It's still a pig at over 3600 lbs and relies more on torque and it's incredible brakes than finesse. Hell the E90 M3 is a pig as well even though the europeans won't ever admit it, a far cry from the light weight race inspired M3s of the past. It's a pit how bloated modern cars are becoming.

  • @BlueAvenue22 Yes, the new Stangs/Camaros are bigger and heavier.

But compared to earlier versions, some of the previous cars almost look like toys. I'm also happy that the new Pony cars don't take on the appearance of "econo box" Imports.

They give the appearance of being more like men's cars. ;-)

  • @CareerFireman I get what you're saying. My brother is about to get an SRT8 challenger which is a BEAUTIFUL car! But I'm more interested in autocrossing and would prefer something alot lighter. No econoboxes for me, I like lightweight RWD coupes like the s2000, 370z, and corvettes.

  • @BlueAvenue22 :-)

  • Lady, you haven't driven a Shelby 500gt yet...

  • Lol the cold shoulda helped them. If its American I think they just add a few seconds on it.

  • @FLAnthonyyy Not cold AND damp!

    No traction?

  • Lol that's what I'm saying everyone says something different. Except this European video.

  • @FLAnthonyyy Cold, rainy English air?

    LOL

  • It should be noted that both Motor Trend and Road & Track turned 4.0-4.1 0-60 times and ran the 1/4 in 12.3 seconds. It's just that I prefer C&D.

Either way, all three journals were measurably quicker than what 5th Gear got. Not really sure why ...

  • Damn you are right about the 0-60 but the video was all wrong.

  • Car & Driver (5/11): 4.3/12.8@113

Unike people's private drag runs, C&D adheres to specific testing procedures (i.e. "full weather correction", "no power shifting", "no lightening of vehicle", etc.).

  • That's funny because I own a boss an it runs 12.3 stock and I've seen guys run 11.8 with just drag radials and I have the car and driver with the car and it says 0-60 4 seconds. And it's def governed at 160

  • 0-60 is 4 sec

    Top speed is about 159

And what European car can beat it (within the same price range)?

  • @FLAnthonyyy Car & Driver Test: 2012 Ford Mustang Boss 302

Zero to 60 mph: 4.3 sec

Zero to 100 mph: 10.0 sec

Zero to 120 mph: 14.9 sec

Street start, 5–60 mph: 4.5 sec

    Standing ¼-mile: 12.8 sec @ 113 mph

Top Speed (governor limited, mfr's claim): 155 mph

    Braking, 70–0 mph: 160 ft

    Roadholding, 200-ft-dia skidpad: 0.90 g

  • @hedrick5286 Thank you for your comment!

As I don't allow coarse language, I've slightly modified your post and present it here:

"Fifth gear sucks ***. Wish top gear would hurry up and drive one. At least they'll put the stig in it."

"I wish top gear would hurry the hell up and drive one cuz fifth gear sucks and this ***** is stupid."

Thanks again for your comment. :-)

  • What is "European standars" though? European cars dont stand up to my American standards. The Boss 302 costs what a 335i coupe does, but blows it out of the water. It even blows the M3 out of the water, and that costs 20k more. So for the money, you can have a nice interior in a slow car, or a hi-po 5.0 liter v8 with a 6 speed and adjustable suspension. I know which aspect of the car I would get bored with faster.

    5.0 > soft touch plastic

  • @EatmyDust1311 @jayman81424

Keep in mind that Mustangs aren't nearly as cheap in Europe, so they lose some of the price advantage.

  • @recklessted Oh well, guess the Boss will just have to settle for "faster than an M3" then. ;-)

  • doesn't meet European standards...its beats the m3 at half the price

  • Glad that the Europeans have finally acknowledged the Boss 302 exists and have finally tested it on T.V. ...NOT glad that the felt the need to speak ill of it. Shame on them. I have an '11 GT Premium and it is the best car I have ever driven and I lived in Germany for 3 years from 03-06 and drove many examples of what they(the Europeans)had to offer and most of it was junk.

  • Well hell yes !!! I've been waiting for Mr. Dodge: 6 speeds manual transmission in the Charger-- booo, I know, I know ( don't tell anyone ), I was getting used to the 4 doors, squashed Journey-minivan look too. Lol. So sad eh ?!

But HEY, I have been raised with Mystangs of every kind, foot measuring their burnout marks, smelling their high octane blood and swallowing rubber fumes... After all. Hihi.

    The Boss is really back.

Does the host comes with the car ? She s crazy !!! Lol.

  • @sylbergeron "The Boss is really back."

    Yes, yes it is!

  • Yes! I new the newish mustang would kinda impress the british. Oh wait idc about there apinions. Loves this reciew though. Topgear next!

  • @Wowmasta21 Your threat has earned you being reported to YT.

    Bah-Bye ...

  • Great host ! She rocks eh !? Oh yeah, 2012 is my year guys ! I am buying a new " car "... hihihi

  • @sylbergeron Just make sure it's a Ford. ;-)

  • @Wowmasta21 Car and Driver did 0 to 60 mph in 4.3 seconds, but yeah.

Even the regular 5.0 ran to 60 in 4.6 sec ...

  • the engine is very unamerican and revs to over 8 grand, i hate american cars but i want one of these!!

  • @mtross70 The new Boss 302's redline is 7,500rpm.

So, you don't hate American cars anymore? ;-)

  • Not up to european standards? Beat the audi r8, bmw m3 and audi s4 at various tracks including le mans and lugina sega bace price is 48k compaired to bmw's 65k and audi's 150k

  • @npaolantonio2225 Right On! :-)

  • @npaolantonio2225 My assumption is that she was referring to the overall fit/finish and the amount of dynamic engineering that the driver is able to experience whilst driving.

Regardless, this is an amazing machine when you consider just how much better it drives than past versions, and how well it performs overall. I'd still prefer an M3 if I was looking for something this "big" (I'm a Lotus guy), but that's strictly based on my own personal taste.

  • Isn't up to par with euro cars.....phthisic I'd own one in a heart beat & I live in Australia....

  • @potaka79 I know if you ask two of the best cheap yet fast cars are this one and the four door Pontiac G8 which is actually a Holden. They aren't as complicated as an M3, but BMW has gotten too complicated. Why in the world would one replace an oil dipstick with a sensor the dipstick is so easy and what happens when the sensor fails?

  • @gdsmckrls I think we need to open up a whole new discussion on the term "cheap".

I guess to someone who owns a base model 1.7 million dollar Veyron, a 60k BMW is pretty darn cheap ...

  • @CareerFireman Lol Well, neither apply to me! I just mean compared to other cars for same peformance.

  • @gdsmckrls In that case, the way I would word it is that the Boss's competitors grossly overpriced!

  • @CareerFireman Yeah the Veyron's tires costs $40,000 that's a boss right there!

  • @gdsmckrls True, but I was thinking more about cars like the M3 ...

  • America's answer to the 911 GT3

  • @kevin52495kc .. and to just about everything else in the world within $25,000 of it's price range!

  • i dont see how the BOSS isnt up to par...M/T drove it around laguna seca faster than an M3 and Cayman R and the BOSS 302 LS just humiliated them even more. Keep your European standards and inferior yet more expensive cars, ill take the BOSS any day!

  • @seniorcat03 :-)

  • @seniorcat03 Look European tastes are different than ours its just a matter of opinion Motor trend is a good mag but its not gospel I love the boss and the new mustangs too its just a matter of opinion.

  • @boomee78 An automotive journal doesn't have to claim to be "gospel" if they do a test and find that car "a" is faster than car "b". They are just presenting results for people like you and me who don't have access to race tracks & sport cars.

Ford used Daytona GT class winner Jonathan Bomarito with the Boss at Laguna Seca when it ran 1:40.4 and 1:40.2. That compares to a professional race car driver getting a 1:42.9 with an 09 M3 in MT's 2008 Best Handling competition.

    WOW.

  • not up to par with european cars, in the hands of a good driver this car does work on more cars than you'd expect, just check the top laguna seca track times

  • @norrisnail0808 If by 'not up to par' you mean the Boss doesn't cost twice as much, then yes. I agree!

  • @CareerFireman no i meant to quote what the hostess said at the end of the video, she says its not up to par. Thats my bad for not adding quotes, the rest of my comment is praise for the 302 and if you actually do look up this mustang on laguna seca all time hot lap records the laguna seca trim and the regular trim both are in the top 20. Beating out a bunch of 911's, the audi 5.2 v10, and the ferrari 458 italia, this car owns my heart <3

  • @norrisnail0808 My bad also for not asking you what you meant. Sorry!

  • @norrisnail0808 that's only one track...

  • @Djordjeblrs And what a track it is!

It's been around for 55 years, and hosts auto racing & motorcycle racing. Over 2 miles long with a 300 foot elevation change and 11 turns, which includes the infamous "Corkscrew".

    Laguna Seca!

  • Love the Boss, just not the price so I bought the GT instead. Couldn't be happier.

  • @CerebrumPedere For me, love the GT just not the price so I bought the V6 instead.

    305 hp for 24k, couldn't be happier. ;- )

  • @1911tacII Your 'comment' was just an insult of the 5th Gear host, and contained nothing of value. So it was deleted. thanks

  • I own a boss 302. My best 0-60 was 4.5 and it was a bad launch.

  • @ MrRedcelica I modified your comment as I don't allow coarse language on my Channel. You said:

"1. it doesnt seem that the other more favoured exotics were even trying 2.the interior on most american cars are so sh** 3.not a bad looking car but id rather buy a c63 amg without a second thought"

Seeing how you're not American, I can understand your wanting a c63. But for me, I wouldnt hesitate a second in turning down any AMG for a genuine B O S S 3 0 2 (new or old!).

  • @CareerFireman: One thing I'm starting to learn is that most europeans don't know what the term "bang for you buck" mean. So therefore, they see a car like a Corvette being raced against and compared to Ferris and Porsche and they immediately say "well Corvettes interior is shit". Completely ignoring the fact that the Corvette cost twice as less. They don't understand that sometimes performance comes 1st and foremost in some cars. to be continued....

  • 0-60 in 5 sec?? doesn't it do it close to 4.5 sec

  • @thugangel662 Yes it does.

Motorweek just tested a 2012 Boss and did 0-60 in 4.4 seconds, the 1/4 mile in 12.4 seconds @114 mph.

  • Heh, way off by European standards but still waxed everything it went up against on that track. Guess it doesn't take much to smash usual pretentious Euros these days.

  • what a lovely woman!

  • @rafalexpx I agree, that Boss 302 ... she's a fine gal!

  • She complains about the fuel economy but she was constantly rev dumping it.... That Makes No Sense!!!

  • @olechevy Thank you for your comment!

As I do not allow the use of coarse words, I've slightly modified it:

"olechevy - Europeans do not know sh** from shine ola !"

Thanks again for your comment. :-)

  • @CareerFireman It is 0-60 in 4 seconds not 5, and you should not be in 6th gear at 70, that is still 5th gear territory. If you shifted it better, and used the gears to their ability, you would have gotten better gas mileage. Early shifts, and playing with the revs also played a factor.

  • @marriedncute First off, it seems you're directing your comments on the 5th Gear review as if I were the tester. I am not.

Secondly, I realize that most tests of the Boss have gotten quicker 0-60 times. Blame it on English weather.

Lastly, I have a 2010 V6 Stang with automatic. I can verify that for better mpg, Ford programmed the 6 speed auto to shift into the HIGHEST gear possible as SOON as possible. Having made a 300+hp engine that gets over 30 mpg, I disagree with you on shift points.

  • @CareerFireman You are partially correct. Where you are wrong: 1 The Boss does not come in an auto. 2 Playing with the revs, and coming way early into a gear will waste fuel because you have to accelerate much harder to get the car to perform. 3 The Boss was specifically designed to rev to 9000, not unlike the Italian supercars, and the full depth of the gears should be used. As for you not being the tester,I understand, but you are the one posting the video, not the tester.

  • @marriedncute You didn't understand. I know the Boss doesn't come with an auto, but that is irrelevant. I pointed out that Ford's earlier (i.e. "lower") shift points on the auto V6 for better mpg also applies to manuals. You may think shifts are too early, but Ford has proved you wrong. And forget what you 'think' the Boss was made to rev at, Ford officially redlined it at 7.5k. Lastly, my posting of the vid does not validate your use of "you" in commenting. Say "they" or "her".

  • @marriedncute I own a Boss 302. 70 MPH is still 3rd gear territory.

  • @1911tacII This comment, I can allow ...

  • Haha, windscreen wipers at 4:00! The Boss was so happy it made a mess! Love it, but do agree that it may not be a finesse car. Unless compared to a Camaro, Challenger, or GT500.

  • @RamboLambo670 It's a built in safety feature, the wipers come on automatically when the Stability Control kicks in! But yeah, no American car will ever please the Europeans.

    Top Gear proved that. LOL

  • @CareerFireman It's cool because I don't like euro cars too much. I need power on the straights not the turns. And the 2012 Mustang has really good handling despite what some people say...

  • @TheKing0fHalo I own a 2011 V6 Mistang and am very happy with it.

It's a base version with the 17" tires, but it handles well enough for me.

On the drag strip, I turned a 14.2@99mph. That's pretty awesome, considering I have an automatic and 2.73 gears!

  • @CareerFireman too bad your car is limited to 112mph lol

  • @supercarkid You assumed incorrectly.

Hypertech says I can set it so that my top speed is limited to wind resistance only, not a 112mph governor.

Now don't you feel silly ...

  • @CareerFireman Congratulations thats an aftermarket part. Its still dumb for such a powerful car to be limited to a pathetic top speed from the factory.

  • @supercarkid You may keep your congratulations, 112 for their stock V6 makes sense. You need to think things through.

Ford sells a top of the line 400+hp 5.0 Mustang, so the obvious logic is that they'd like you to buy >that< car if you want to go all-out. Otherwise, sacrifice a little and get the 305hp V6.

See. It all makes sense now, doesn't it ...

  • @CareerFireman The top of the line is actually a 500+hp Mustang and next year will become a 650+hp beast the 5.0 is a mid performer in the mustang line up

  • @streetpunk83 Yes, you are correct. I've been folowing the ongoing development of the Shelby cars for quite some time (several people in our car club own one).

With sc/kid, I was trying to keep things on a more basic level so he would understand my point ...

  • @CareerFireman Yeah but everyone is going forced induction these days even dodge is talking about it with there challenger, they need to do something Ford and Chevy have opened up the gap by a rather large margin, I'm a Ford guy but i think the Challengers are the best looking modern muscle car there just fat and slow compared to there competition

  • @streetpunk83 I admit, the Challengers do look nice. But being ~600 hundred pounds heavier than a Stang, they continually have to make 60-70 hp more JUST to stay even.

Im guessing always playing catch gets tiresome after a while. The new Dodge pony cars cars need to lose some serious weight ...

  • @streetpunk83: Yeah I agree with you about challengers. They are the best looking muscle cars today. Maybe thats because they are not on the street as much as camaros and challengers. The Challengers have two major problems. 1. They are just too freaking heavy. 2. They are actually slightly more expensive that mustang GT 5.0 and the Camaro ss while being slower than both. Muscle car buyers like the "bang for your buck" quality.

  • @V8Supercar1 AGREED!

  • @V8Supercar1 Lol Camaro SS is just slightly behind the Mustang 5.0. Only the challenger is the slowest.

  • @CareerFireman: continued...... If a 70k car can do 200mph straight from the factory backed with a 5 year 100k mile warranty, and have a leather interior with some carbon fiber components, it most certainly is not a low quality car. Of course I'm talking about the Corvette Z06. :)

  • @V8Supercar1 Yes, it seems like a lot of european shows have a whole diferent way of thinking than we do. Let's face it, the USA is the land of the Muscle Car! Which by it's very definition means high horse power and low frills. It's a concept I don't think they ever really got ...

  • @CareerFireman: So are you actually really a fireman? :)

  • @V8Supercar1 Yup! 18 years of service. God willing, I'll retire from the Fire Department in two more years!

  • @CareerFireman: Nice. And the very first thing you are gonna do is buy yourself a Boss 302?

  • @V8Supercar1 LOL .. not likely. The Boss is a great car, for sure. But at this point, I'm quite satisfied with my lil 'ol 305hp V6. :-)

  • @CareerFireman I got one too Mustang Club of America package and premium, very good all around car. Gone 120mph on it a few times :)

  • @kraven40 So you must have an aftermarket tune, because the top speed governor for all of the 11+ V6 cars is 113 mph.

Be careful at that speed though, some people are reporting driveshaft failure with the V6 cars at speeds beyond what Ford designed it for ...

  • @CareerFireman That's becuase their price of fuel is higher. If they are going to spend a lot of fuel on a car, it had better had more too it than just power.

  • @3089280288 If you're talking about the M3, I don't see why anyone would care about the price of fuel if their car has a base price of $60,000 ...

  • @CareerFireman You're right, but it will care when a "Ford" beat his prestigious and unbeatable BMW. Just check at his face :"wtf a Mustang, wtf a girl!!!" Priceless ;)

  • @V8Supercar1 Corvette is high performance yes, high quality no. I'm assuming you never sat in one or drove one. The inside is no where near par with the price tag. Corvettes are known to have cheap interior. But that's ok there's a reason it can match 250k car's at a 100k price, you see it in the interior.

  • @kraven40 Wow, I don't know if the 250k cars are giving people 150k worth of interior upgrades over a 100k Vette.

    In fact, I'm sure they aren't ...

  • @RamboLambo670: Instead of those cars, compare its performance to the BMW M3 and the Audi R8, in which the Boss302 LS posted quicker lap times around the Laguna Seca vs. those cars.
