Yes, the weapon disappears from the screen. There's also a beep so you know when you can release the buttons.

you dont hav to hold the LB button when lowering your weapon. and lowering it WILL WORK FOR ANY BUTTON LAYOUT. you just hav to use the other button that does the same action. in default controls, B is to switch grenades and X is to reload. in a different layout a different button does these actions so use them instead.
