I must say that you have the best custom artwork I've ever seen in this game. I hearted both. People could learn a lot from your levels. The gameplay felt kind of empty. There was very basic platforming and did sort of get boring untill I got to the bosses.
I don't agree that the level should be "skipped". But I do agree with the score posted on the blog. Although I'd probably boost Originality for the seriously crazy effort you put into your art. You can't get any more original then that.
If this levels didn't look as good as it did then I wouldn't even bother playing it. That's how basic and dull the platforming and bosses are.
Both levels look fantastic, but lack substance.
As an author of anything you can't always be objective as you've spent hours and hours of effort into something. But just play the other levels I've reviewed to see what good level design/flow and gameplay is all about.
Perhaps you need to learn how to objectively review as this wasn't a review so much as a veiled snipe at my levels that you don't enjoy. To suggest they "lack substance" is an outright lie 100s of people will contest you on.
Theres many levels better than mine but you have reviewed very few of them. Jaeydens other levels since are great, but Invasion was pretty awful.
I note you havent tried your own knowledgeable hand at level design yet...
I think the problem here is that The visual style of this level shows that a lot of time and effort were put into it, but in terms of new and interesting styles of gameplay, it does not push the boundaries on that front.
Ideally both areas would be strong. There is no "Wow factor" to the machinery, platforming, etc. But there is some serious "wow" to the art direction.
You need to take a step back and realize that he is not calling you a bad person or attacking you personally, he is just giving his opinion about the level.
And you don't need to be an excellent creator to be an excellent critic. Look at most movie critics out there, they aren't world-class directors, but they have a valuable opinion.

Why make a video about the creator's levels if you're gonna bring it down?

Hmmm, anyone know how to make this "everything black" mode? I really wan't to make a level with it all dark, but the background colourful!
Thanks!

I love the sackouette levels. They look good and I really like how he uses only one plane. Keeps it nice and simple. I can't wait for the third one.

The only reason why people should skip this is if they can't appreciate beautiful art and awesome custom designs.
Both levels aren't horrible by far... I liked them for the look but not the gameplay.
Maybe I stressed that part too much. The latter that is.

Your 'rating' of my level is "dont bother playing it/pass"? Really? This is just sounding like sour grapes or something instead of an honest review.

Trust me, yours severely lacks in that area.

Hi, I've played your levels and think they're pretty good, but I have to agree with the bloke doing the review on this one.
The platforming is way too frustrating, it took me and my mates ages to get past those columns at the beginning.
Aesthetically though, they're very nice, and I can't wait for Sackhouette 3. I just hope you make the platforming a bit more solid next time though.

I have noticed in both your videos you stopped at the hardest parts...I bet you couldn't beat the levels in the first place huh?
