Read AOA, and Magneto only survived to kill Apocalypse thanks to Bishop in the 1st fight & Nate Grey in the final issue. Other than that , Magnus was a)outmatched & b)slapped around like the kid he is to Apoc. As for the whole "he trounced him!" It took a lot of concentration & risk to pull a stunt like that, besides BOTH Nate & Erik were not giving him a single chance of moving knowing how dangerous he is.
