My husband and I have this tradition of going to Parkersburg for memorial day weekend, but this year we didn't go because we weren't feeling well on Sunday, so we were going to wait till Monday. I can't believe this happened. We have friends there, and New Hartford that we haven't heard from yet, we are just hoping and praying for them, and everyone else there.
i live just west of there and it was scary and my sister was freaking out because she is paranoyed like that... i know wird and my friend houst got leveled and she lost 48 pairs of shoes so yea
I just moved to Charles city, about 3 months ago. People here were freaking out when the sirens went off because of the twister that hit here in 1968. Although we didn't have any confirmed touchdowns, I heard one a few miles away. Our thoughts and prayers are with you in Parkersburg, as the residents of Charles City definitely know what you're going through.
Seven people were killed in this tornado and as many as 80 were injured. Unfortunately, everyone did not make it out. Please pray for the residents of Parkersburg, Iowa.

an f-5 is the largest, most destructive tornado possible.
They are as deadly as they are rare.

i knw what an F-5 is but this was an EF-5. what does the E stand for?
JGandDX 3 years ago
they redid the scale a few years ago. It's still basically the same as an F5. "Enhanced Fujita Scale"

An EF5 is essentially the same thing as an F5

An F5 is not necessarily the largest.
