  • Funny to look back and see how much in the tank the media was for this clown of a president we now have.

  • well jim the reason why they havent done it nor will is because they dont care about the servicemen and women.

  • is this an SNL scene his hair makes it seem so

  • Every year from 2004 to 2007, McCain voted against a VA health-care bill for troops coming back from Iraq and Afghanistan.

In 2008, he did not vote at all on the Post-9/11 Veterans Education Assistance Act, yet spoke out against it. This bill was a bipartisan effort by Sens. Jim Webb, D-Va., and Chuck Hagel, R-Neb., and would have paid a veterans tuition rather than only some of it, as the GI Bill does today.

  • We need to debunk the McCain War Hero myth once and for all. If McCain really cared about the troops and Vets, why did he consistently vote AGAINST helping them?

Access the facts about McCain and our Vets on my channel.

  • Drugged out Cindy was talking today @ a rally injecting her phoney outrage over a Bill her husband voted against to support troops. Obama didn't sign it because he wanted a timeline withdraw & Mccain didn't sign it because the timeline was put in. I've researched both canidates & I'm at the point where I can't even watch McCain anymore. He's appauling.

  • McCain voted 28 times AGAINST improving the benefits for our vets. Veteran Report Card gives McCain D Grade. Obama gets B Grade. Please forward this video to let people know who truly supports our military!!!!

  • 900 Iraq-Afghan. vets are amputees, 320,000have TBI & 300,000 PTSD or depression. Troop suicides double peers' rate. 1,000s suffer burns, paralysis, disease, near mortal wounds. 4,700: dead.

McCain said no to billions for VA health, TBI research, & PTSD care. He'd ration vets care for combat injured, leaving millions without care. He opposed New GI Bill: 'too generous.'

DAV: McCain with 20% of the time, Obama 85%.

Being a vet not same as being there for vets. Jim Hudson

  • Oh, yea. You really support us vets dont you McCain like you said in the first debate. I am a vet and I know that you WONT take care of me. Other than not supporting the GI Bill, thanks again for supporting the Bush Administration for cutting my med benefits back in 2001 (no money... just medical care). Appreciate that one.

  • Tim Russert to Biden "many democrats will say senator Biden is to cut off Funding, everything else is small talk and unless your willing to do that you will not be the democratic nominee!

Biden" If you tell me I've got to take away the protection for these kids, in order to win the election, some things aren't worth it! Some things are worth losing over!

  • (Cont) That would be worth losing over! Hundreds of lives are being saved, and will be saved by us sending these vehicles over which we are funding with this supplmental legislation. And I want to ask any of my other colleages ...Would they in fact cut off the money for those troops to protect them? That's the right question! This isn't cutting off the war, this is cutting off support, that will SAVE the LIVES of thousands of American troops!

Obama voted against the funding anyway!

  • So when the Camera's are on Obama is complaining his College Bill is better then McCains and implying he cares about the troops...Yet with Biden making the situation clear to him he voted against funding to In Biden's words "SAVE THOUSANDS OF AMERICAN LIVES"...Of course now that Biden is his VP he forgives him I guess??? No need for an education if you don't come home at all eh?

  • The bill was an education bill with earmarks (for home heating subsidies) and McCain has his own Bill. Obama on the other hand is no friend to the troops. He voted against funding to give troops what they needed in Iraq and afghanistan just to get back at Bush. Is that the man we need as Commander in Chief?

  • I don't understand why McCain as a veteran would be against this bill!?!?

  • it those no make you a good president

  • mccain want to talk talk talk about his service just to win well john thanks for serving but that aint make us to vote for you and it aint make us you a good president

  • Mission Statement of Vietnam Vets AGAINST MCCAIN:

"Vietnam Veterans Against John McCain was formed to dispel the myth of "Straight talkin', principled, maverick war hero" John McCain. Through more than two decades of investigation of his behavior,... we have come to the unavoidable conclusion that he is unfit by virtue of his temperament, character, dishonesty, and emotional instability to serve as President of the United States or in any other position of public trust."

  • MCCain did what he always does when confronted with somethign that makes him look bad...he attacks the person asking the question rather that give an actual answer to the question.

  • Everytime the guy defending McCain opens his mouth the video is cut... This is hilarious!

  • Please FactCheck this:

McCain also voted for LOWBALL VA health budgets from 2003-2007 as U.S. troops returned with amputations, disfiguring burns, traumatic brain injuries, blindness, deafness, & PTSD!

McCain voted for ONLY 20% of DAV bills in 2006, ONLY 25% in 2005!

McCain voted to kill a bill to help vets' kids born paralyzed (National Academy of Science found dioxin association with increased incident of spina bifida in Vietnam veterans' children)!

  • personally i dont think neither should be president theres just somthin i dont like about mcain or obama

  • Let's see, Foley, promotes underage sex, may be homosexual, wants to keep his communications private...sounds like a posterchild for the left. The only real comment that you can make is that he is a hypocrite, which seems to be the most common insult thrown at the right. And the left makes it on just about everywhere BUT Fox

(ABC,NBC,CBS,PBS)And no, I don't consider Hannity and Colmes is a left wing show, but I'll say it anyway...just I can say the equally intelligent "Takes one to know one".

  • WTF? MSNBC and other crap news organizations criticize FOX news for being biased? Has anyone listened to the jerk and the way that he kissed Webb's butt?

  • It wasn't MSNBC that claimed Mark Foley was a Democrat.

And while Olbermann is bias to the left MSNBC also has joe scarborough who is bias to the right.

Foxnews on the other hand has no left wing shows and if you say Hannity and Colmes is a left wing show you're a dumbass.

  • How the fuck did Bush praise mccain for the GI Bill when not only did he oppose it he wasnt even there to fucking vote on it.

  • Who took away the benefits? Reps & Dems! Fools. Americans get more stupid everyday. Reps and Dems took away the benefits and this guy is feeding us the s--- sandwich.

  • Obama needs to pick Webb for Vice President so Webb can rip McCain a new asshole for not showing to the new GI Bill voting, this coming from a fellow Marine.

  • McCain is a fraud. Webb is the true patriot and I hope Obama has the fucking sense to pick him for his running mate.

  • Webb for VP

  • TheObamaFile com TheObamaFile com

  • this guy is a confederate and stems from confederate blood!

  • McCain is correct in attacking Obama on this. McCain is hardly anti-military. Obama has said he will cut military spending drastically. What will he cut? Our defense, open us up to terrorists. It was clearly a political speech on the senate floor. Is McCain the only one who didn't support it? Give me a break! How come his comments were aimed at his future opponent? His so called compliment to his military career was a joke and an attempt to make himself seem sincere. Who's he fooling?

  • Mccain is not anti military he is anti veteran. The GI bill benefits soldiers not the military... Mccains vote against the GI bill just shows where his priorities lie.

  • Anti-veteran? I don't think so. Soldiers are the military and anyone who served in the capacity he did knows that. If he didn't vote for it there is good reason. All the missiles, guns and armored vehicles are nothing without someone to use them. With everything he went thru he never had the attitude that anyone owed him anything. Neither did my father or father-in-law who served in WWII. They never asked for a single benefit or entitlement. Repair and renew the VA hospitals first.

  • My point is that there are things u can do that benefit the military but dont benefit soldiers. Mccains GI bill retains more soldiers in the military by giving less benefits for shorter service. Longer service reaps greater benefits but the benefits still arent as good as webbs bill. That helps the military stay strong but not the individual soldiers. Mccain himself argues that what is important is retention rates while webb argues that whats important are the veterans.

  • The only vets I see suffering are the ones coming home injured and we aren't able to take care of them because our medical facilities are run down or we are short funded. That needs to be repaired before we start handing out more entitlements. My father never got over what he saw in WWII and he didn't like to talk about it. He teared up every time and he was a strong man who didn't cry. He never expected anything and never criticized his country. All he got was his pay, no benefits.

  • well he should have gotten benefits... its better for vets and its better for our country. They need healthcare and they need opportunity . We should provide both to our heros

  • So, McCain is to resort to Extort young people to serve? If someone is hurt in their 1st tour, they should get no benefits? McCain has a suger-daddy wife and free education when he was younger, but he doesn't want to support this group of soldiers. Retention occurs if they want to serve not use extortion.

  • I'm sure he didn't complain about the chance at getting a higher education and a shot at a better life, either.

I know McCain probably never complains about his taxpayer funded free ride through the Naval Academy. Why would he? He slacked off so much he was almost last in his class. But when it comes to giving the vets a shot at cheaper education, he can't even be bothered to show up and vote. Vote yes, vote no... don't care, but at least pretend to give a damn.

  • huh that's weird he's still pulling 58k/year, untaxable, from the government for his "technical disabilities." hmmm strange...

  • He receives a navy pension, senate salary and got 177,111 in book royalties which he donated to charity. I don't see what you are talking about.

  • McCain: "Keep the soldiers in Iraq until we "win" "we Republicans are more patriotic than the Democrats"

When it comes to providing a revised G.I. Bill that will pay fully for our Troops to get a college education..."it costs too much"

  • if you want this war then you should be willing to pay for it and to pay the soldiers for it.

  • LOL McBush is about to be extremely embarrassed between now and Nov.

What in McBushe's mind makes him think he can clearly, thoughtfully and intelligently debate Obama?!! Not in this life time McBush is McSame.

  • Where the fuck is Media Matters when you need them, oh thats right they're a far left pandering bunch of assholes.

McCain has fucked up a lot, but he did not vote against this bill because he hates veterans. He introduced a bill that would have a sliding grade pay increase for veteran benefits that accumulates with year's served, and Harry Reid blocked its admission using parliamentary gimmicks. Of course the media doesn't report this.

Huffington Post and Kos: half-truth liars.

  • webbs bills passed 72 to 20 something ... Mccains bill sucked thats why it didnt get to the floor. Mccain made that bill a year after webbs was first introduced... its a cover up not a real bill

  • John McCain and George W Bush will send young men to war, but have no rewards for service avaliable when they come home. If risking your life for your country is the greatest sacrifice, treat them like it!!! Hypocrites, offspring of vipers...lol

  • I'm currently working on getting student loans in order so I can use them to pay for my tuition, books, housing, and utilities. The GI Bill I have? That should just about cover food and supplies. Well worth that 4 years of my life.

I'm working on starting college next spring and the current GI Bill is amazingly pathetic for the needs of college students today, that's all there is to it.

Support our troops when their serving, forget them when they're out. The GI Bill needs an overhaul, badly.

  • Obama / Webb 08'

    This is the dream ticket..

  • Please everyone write the President, write your senators and congressman - they don't read utube - news organizations should take up this cause - this should be a huge issue. Patriotism is more than waving flags and saying thank you - soldiers be able to go to any college they can get into and recieve living expenses, these same benefits should be availalbe for their widows and orphaned children, they gave their life for their family should have a better life.

  • lol in my country college is free :D. Hope you guys enjoy your capitalism. EVERY MAN FOR HIMSELF! RAwR!

  • It appears you get what you pay for.

  • There are 9 million of you.

Can we start letting 6 million illegal immigrants in every year over there and in Norway? We'll see how well your socialism holds up against our capitalism if you had to take on the population burdens we did. Also stop drilling oil like the US did and see how long Scandinavia lasts with its standard of living. America is failing for several reasons, but its not the business system. Its the reservist fiat currency and poor population management.

  • and maybe the pointless war

  • Webb is a confederate sympathizer and a misognyist, I hope Obama picks him for vice president.

  • McCain is garbage

  • I'm a veteran of the Iraq war, and I would die before voting for John McCain. That piece of garbage should not be put in charge of our military. If nothing else, republicans usually take care of the military...he's a disgrace...end of story.

  • Thank you for your service. Its important for our veterans to stand up and voice your concerns in front of those who have yet to sacrifice or understand what this war has done to our people and our country. God bless you for your commitment.

  • AND the colleges should pitch in as well.

  • The Montgomery GI Bill gives vets only 300dollars a month toward college. This would give vets a full instate scholaship. Please tell me what is wrong with that. Is it because more minorities are in the military is it because Mccain marriered a millionarist so his kids will go to college. What is wrong with giving our vets who have given so much a FREE college education. Please explin this to me.

  • What is "wrong" with it is... If a soldier returns from war, and now has a chance to go to college, he will go to college instead of returning to war until he gets killed. Got it? Support the Troops indeed.

  • its actually $1,100 a month right now, for 9 months out of the year (2 semesters), but with private tuition being 45K a year at some top school it really doesnt even touch that. the new bill will match whatever financial aid that private offers the student, plus BAH (Basic Allowance for Housing)

    for example

RPI (private)=$48K a year (with housing books and fees)

RPI offers 19K a year in aid, the gov't matches it and give the soldier 1300 a month in BAH (E-5 w/ dependent BAH)

  • now all of a sudden you are at 49K a year, actually paying for the school instead of 10K a year, not even coming close... combat vets deserve it

or let say SUNY Albany (public)

all tuition paid in full, and then 1300 a month for e-5 bah with dependents (same area as RPI), still pretty sweet deal, that school is probably 15-20K a year for instate students so even 10K here is a greatly unjust. just food for thought with some fairly accurate figures... give or take a couple of bucks....

  • the last two comments were separated (backwards) so just switch em around and it'll give you a good idea about this new bill

  • In the military, education is part of professional development. It makes you competitive to get promoted to the next rank. The fact is that when you get promoted, you get more income to help take care of your family and, to address retention in the service, you would also incur an additional service obligation.

  • Wow! Someone is posing comments that has a basic understanding of military education programs. Active duty tuition assistance programs, however, are different than the Montgomery GI Bill. All that is required to use the current GI Bill is an honorable discharge from a term of enlistment.

  • Obama/Webb 08!

  • This makes no sense and its disrespectful to veterans who completed their duty and opted out to get on with their lives. McCain argues that it will threaten retention, but what better way to attract new people to the military than by offering real educational benefits after leaving? And, what ever happened to McCain and his lapdog Graham advertising the fact that reenlistments were higher than ever, bc the troops wanted to "finish the job in?" All of a sudden they're worried about retention?

  • In 1966 I enlisted in the U.S. Army it was not for any GI bill benefits. The reason I enlisted was I felt it was my duty to give six years of service to my country. I would say that most of the men and women serve not for benefits but for their desire to serve their country. I do not know what the pay scale is today but when I enlisted it was $78 per month I doubt if it is monetary gain is the reason for their service. These people should be honored for their service with this GI bill.

  • AverageVoter, McCain's opposition to the bill is complete garbage. They reward troops who stay in on active duty. Problem is, most troops choose, as is their right, to pursue an education after a single enlistment. What McCain is telling them is damned if you do, damned if you don't--we'll only give you an education if you stay in the military long enough so that you can't get an education.

  • Anyone on active duty now can go to college under the current GI bill. It's not as if Webb's flawed plan fails, then nobody can go to college. While it is true that many people sign up for one enlistment period, it is also true that many people on active duty already have a college degree. McCain's plan would allow a transfer of the benefit so their kids could go to college.

  • Viva Mccain!

  • That is the picture this man is trying to paint. Obama speaks for military and regular civilians. McCain and George Bush are War Veterans, they should have been the first ones to sign this bill.

Yet they aren't, even when democrats AND REPUBLICANS are voting for it in great numbers? Yet the fucking President and John McCain aren't?

This sounds fishy............McCain supporters should be outraged!!!!

  • McCain's GI Bill is better because it would allow veterans to transfer college benefits to their children, which is what people in the military really want. McCain's bill also increases the benefits the longer the person stays on active duty.

The Obama plan has neither of these features and actually encourages people to get out of the military as soon as is possible.

  • Last time I checked, this was not really Obama's bill. This was Jim Webb's bill that Obama and like a shit load of other politicians supported.

Keep in mind, these bills are probably pages think and they might have found something in McCain's bill that was not right. Otherwise, MORE PEOPLE WOULD HAVE VOTED FOR IT!!!!

  • You are quite correct. It is Webb's amendment. All Obama did was try to take credit for it.

As an aside, the majority party (as a general rule)gets to pick which bills get to the floor.

  • The only credit that Obama has taken for this bill is as a cosponsor you need to get your facts striate. This is Jim Webb's bill and has fifty eight cosponsors from both sides. This is the right thing to do every veteran has earned this regardless of time served. These people do the most dangerous job in America for little pay.

  • It is George H. W. Bush who is a war veteran. Now George W.

  • Hold on, I did not even finish watching this video and I already found something fucked up about John McCain's argument. He just said that he doesn't think that someone like Obama "Who did not feel it was his responsibility to serve our country in uniform..."

Is this man trying to say that Obama and anyone who decides not to join the military can't lecture him? WTF! I am sorry, but I am patriotic but I will NEVER join the military and just because you don't doesn't mean you are un-patriotic.

  • If McBush was really a "Maverick" he would have broken ranks with the president and supported the G.I. Bill, not double down with him.

  • OBAMA/WEBB '08!!!

  • OBAMA/WEBB 2008!!!

  • McCain used to be the kinda a guy I might support. But in trying to secure the Republican nomination, he sold his soul to the very neocons that ran our beautiful country into the ground. I'd sooner vote for Barr than McCain. I beg you people, don't vote for McCain! We don't need four more years of Bush!

  • Mccain's opposition is that with our military getting a GI Bill education fewer of them would stay in uniform. But wouldn't logic say if there were better benefits, more people would enlist? Mccain's education was paid for by the American people. Believe Mccain didn't bother to show up for the vote...

  • I just love how everytime McCain holds some idiotic viewpoint that he has no hope of honestly defending, when ppl reply to his idiocy he just calls it a respectfu disagreement, which often it isn't. It usually is cold, hard fact. Lik McCain thinking Ahmadinejad controls Iran's foreign policy, nuclear programs, and military.

  • Obama/Webb 2008

  • God willing.

  • Remember that Webb is basically a conservative who worked for Ronald Reagan. In short, Obama, who has the most liberal voting record in the U.S. Senate, would probably agree with Webb on more or less nothing.

  • McCain really is a piece of shit

  • This is absolutely amazing: George Douche and John McBush have no problem sending young Americans to die in foreign lands but when it comes to affording them a new GI bill they reject it because it's "too generous" and might keep some from not re-enlisting (after they've already put their lives on the line doing 2 and 3 tours of duty in Iraq or Afghanistan)?! WTF is wrong with these people?!

Obama needs to run with either Webb or Hagel as VP and nip Bush, Act III, in the bud in November.

  • Obama/Hagel 08!!!

  • Obama/Hagel 08!!!

  • Obama/Webb 2008!

  • I wish more dems had a backbone like Jim Webb. He doesn't take sh-t from anyone. I guess with webb being a former republican, he knows better than most what these f-ckers are capable of doing. To beat the GOP who have to think like them.

  • Not too much like them. Republicans are idiots. They thought the Bush Taxcuts were a good idea during a time of war, wish we all knew wasn't. Bush Taxcuts + 2 Expensive Wars = Economic Disaster.

  • Webb for VP!!!!

  • Troops*

  • Mc-Bush does not support the troups.

  • Senator McCain has one son on active duty in the Marines (who has already served one tour in Iraq) and another son at the U.S. Naval Academy. To say that McCain doesn't care about the troops is against the clear weight of the evidence.

  • His Sons will have no problem going to college. He cares about the troops, but not about their after-military career.

  • exactly one tour in Iraq. yet he is all for other troops serving multiple tours in iraq and mccain's wife is rich his son will go to the finest school if he choses. i gues the other brave soldiers don't deserve a good educafion to mccain

  • Once again, anyone on active duty now can use the current Montgomery GI Bill to help pay for college. McCain's plan allows troops, many of which already have a degree, to transfer the benefit to their kids.

  • McCain's plan is simply an alternative plan to a GI bil that overwhelmingly passed the Senate but Bush opposes it, so in his clasic lap dog manner, McCain opposes it, too. John McCain is an embarassment to both the political process and this nation. He is a war hero of convenience. He pimps out his war service when ACTUAL Democratic combat veterans take a military position contrary to that of armchair Republican cowards. Fuck John McCain.

  • Love to see people aware and conscious of the issues!

  • I would think if many of the troops already have degrees then it would be mere pocket change to fund the few who don't have. Also I know that there are many who are recruited while still in high school... how did they get those degrees you are talking about?

  • Moron.

  • Why doesn't John McBush tell us why he doesn't want to best for our troops. Our young men and women in the military need and deserve THE BEST we can possibly give them. They have rightfully earned it and to deny them a proper and decent education astounds me. Good for Senators Obama and Clinton for signing on to this. Just goes to show you that McBush really IS Mc-BUSH.
