I would say that this is impossible to answer, it depends on too much. What stage in the game? How many rax / factories do you already have? What's your game plan? If you just expanded, sure, a few new rax could be useful. If you haven't expanded, maybe the money should go into an expo?

@rafi4138 there is one, drone timing, what i did was i just constantly hit (hotkey for my hatchery which is 4) sd, 4sd 4sd 4sd 4sd and literally put every larvae i could into drones, i kept 2-4 lings in front of the other person's base to see if i needed to prepare for a push or build anti-air and never missed a queen inject. you'll find with this you'll fully sat on two bases in no time and have the economy to overwhelm him while getting a third :) :)

Don't listen to XGamezOnlyX, the maximum saturation is 30 per base, but the most efficient is 22.

You are correct in making 20-30 workers per base.

@MrHav1k No, and yes. You have to constantly keep up on your queen inject, manage your larvae perfectly, ect. But all units are made from the hatchery making creating an army easier.

@MrHav1k Not really, you've got two extra resources to manage, you have your larvae, which one is used up in every unit creation, and your drones, which one is used up every time you make a building, so you have to spend more on your mineral line than other races.

Did you know you can queen inject by left clicking on the mini map. hit V then left click on your hatch in the mini map -- you don't have to do it in the main screen. Thought I'd throw that out there! :)

because you have units/structures selected, they take precedence over the UI, so simply hit Esc. and it'll deselect yours, and it'll show whatever is actually selected *if anything actually is*

sorry to troll but so many points i disagree with. micro will not produce a result of you killing 1 extra tank. expecially as zerg micro is the differance between a 100% whipe of all your forces and you killing some units. what i mean is if you just send some roaches and lings into toss or terran they will all die without killing a single jackmost of the time. You must target fire. bad advice. macro is important but id rather kill units then send mine into their death

Just for the record, i've seen one pro who groups warpgates together in bunches of 10 and hotkeys them.

I guess this gives him more of an element of control to manage exactly how many units can warp in. Also, he can keep a batch 'in reserve' in case he suspects a drop or something.

I'm not saying this is right or wrong, it's just food for thought. :)

@nounnyvan I don't think you can 'cancel' a hotkey. Instead push 4 to select everything in that group, hold shift, and click everything in the framework that you dont want then hit control 4 again. However it would be far faster to click your CC and hit Control 4 again. You can always re-assign hotkeys. Don't think that once you put a building in one that you can never again use it for something else like units.

The same way you add it is the way you remove it. If you add a Zealot via the shift key to say control group 2 then you can do the same toe remove it ^.^.
