  • this sounds amazing with copyright holders included :D

  • The sound wont.. play. Im confrrused!!

  • SOUNDLESS ASSHOLE ! FUCK YOU COPYRIGHT JERKS !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • you know where warner can stick it...Ill look moew closely at what I'm buying

  • WHO DID THIS VERSION? I WANT TO BUY IT!!!!

  • Complain:

    Warner Music International‎

    1290 Avenue of the Americas

    New York, NY 10104-0184

    (212) 275-4700

  • Erm... Since when did WMG own "Claire de lune" to begin with? Pardon me if I'm just being ignorant here, but...

  • if audio has been disabled why keep it here, don't even make available

  • Hey... WMG... what kind of harm is being done here, exactly, hmmmm? Well, I know the answer so I'll tell you. Right now you are sensoring one of the most beautiful pieces in history because the audio track wasn't "authorized"... That's the harm being done. It's strange; I didn't know we needed papers and certification to post a video of a song we really love. You are acting like a nitpicky dictator right now... kind of reminding me of Dolores Umbridge...

  • I listened to this video years ago and am sad that the audio has been muted. Does anyone know what recording this was or any information on it? What CD, group, ect. ?

  • @djmikeaaronr This version is from the Oceans Eleven soundtrack I believe. That or the sequel.

  • Folks, the copyright is on the recording, not the composition.

  • I hope WMG burns to the ground. Fuckers. I hate those assholes.

  • They can't even own it, it's so old that it doesn't even have a fucking copyright!

  • there is no sound!!!

    Thumbs up if u agree!

  • @CPJenni2 ur retarded

  • ????what?

  • Thanks for the cultural concision WMG!

  • tough

  • to see my latest piano composition search "Ballade of the stars". Click on first video. I hope it moves you in some way

  • wtf

  • you can't possibly expect to enforce a copyright on something the origonal artist no longer has need for

  • how do you report WMG?

  • Who owns copyright of this?!?!!?!?

  • @CasamiaStudios WMG apparently :/

  • Screw you WMG. I'll just click on one of the other 40 links with the same freakin piece!

  • did WMG exist when Debussy lived?

  • We should seek out WMG and vomit on them.

  • Esta música es patrimonio de la humanidad.WMG ladrones.Viva el pirateo

  • If WMG want to enforce 'copyright', they had better go around muting every single video on youtube. Good luck.

  • When did debussy sign with WMG?

  • JUST PLANE WRONG WE WANT THE MUSIC GO DIE IN A HOLE WMG AND YOUTUBE

  • You know, I'm a capitalist. Always have been, and I probably always will be; but how DARE you try to claim this for your own?! How dare you try to put a price on this beautiful piece or art...cheapening it with dollars and cents? I realize that the performer of this particular rendition must eat like the rest of us, but this...this is disgusting and you should all be ashamed of yourselves.

  • I think you'll find that it's not the song itself that has a copyright problem. The music is in the public domain due to its age. What *can* be copyrighted is specific performances of the music. So, "Claire de Lune" is public domain but "Claire de Lune as arranged and performed by John Doe" is subject to copyright if John Doe registers it as such. There's plenty of other versions of the song available on youtube, just go watch those.

  • Whats this? Claude Debussy signed a contract with warner music group giving them exclusive rights to his music? Funny thing, he died before wmg was founded. That would be like them saying that they own the right to Tchaikovsky.

  • you should say that you don't own the copyrights! then youtube wouldnt do this :(

  • FAIL.

  • If Alex Delarge saw this:

    "IT'S A SINNNNNNNNNNN"

of course no one on youtube will get this.

  • WMG=Where Money Goes

  • I'd like to think this is the kind of thing that is laughed at in 10 years, but more probably generations and generations of legal demons keep breeding and none of them is going to go to his boss and say "You know, videos in Youtube increase sales and you're frankly shooting us in the leg by letting me sabotage this free advertising on high salary, so why don't you just fire me and we'll all be better off?"

Pop music people seem to be starting to understand this, dinosaurs not so much.

  • WMG...

    Blindness to the art.

    Ignorance, insensitivity, greed, mediocrity

    Moneylenders, is what they are!

  • Copyright only remains 70 Yrs after Authors Dead...so think....

  • omg, wmg is so stupid? they don´t disable the sound of a lot stupid videos of people trying to be funny or horrible music remixes, etc., but they do disable classical music... it's a sin...

  • Art belongs to the humanity, let us listen what belong to us.........

  • This was not made for profit how is that not fair use? Having to pay to listen to a work of art is putting a price tag on our culture. Better start bottling air before they start charging for that too.

  • OMFG!!! Debussy has been DEAD for hundreds of yrs! You can just own his shit!

  • I have no ideea what Claude Debussy would think of the financial and legal implications of this copyright battle , however I would like to think that he would be appauled that some corporation would dictate the price of his music.

  • Hey I downloaded this music clip off of YouTube a while before WMG took it down. If anyone wants the MP3 really badly, go ahead and email me at srveiddesrv@yahoo.com and I'll send you back the file. I don't mind the trouble, I'd go to great lengths for a Debussy piece and this one means too much to me.

  • You know...I support the free market and capitalism as a whole...but you CANNOT PUT A BLOODY PRICE TAG ON DEBUSSY! You are everything I hate about capitalism, WMG.

  • Clare de Lune 'belongs' to WMG? just pick one of the stack of other offerings that WMG don't 'own' yet...

  • NOBODY OWNS DEBUSSY. fkin WMG

  • right, what or who the fuck is WMG and why wont they let me listen to a piece of music?

  • WMG? whats the f##kin relevance u've got o here?????

  • Why are all the commenters so stupid

  • WMG, you jerks

  • WMG...you should make an exception when it's classical music. Knowing how culture has changed dramatically in the last few years it would be sensible to allow this genre to be publicly available.

  • @777eds

but that would make them not get money from it, wtf are you talking about?

    /sarcasm.

  • How sad. WMG does not understand that they are, as my evil ex-boss once said, "screwing themselves in the foot."

  • WTF?? were is it>.<!!

  • Yes. Public domain apparently means that "WMG OWNS YOUR SHIT."

    Seriously, what the fuck?

  • Stupid WMG >.<

  • screw WMG. how can we let people like this "own" music they have no care for beyond its monetary worth? why does everything have to be paid for and with adverts all around them as if its the only way it could possibly work. at least with classical music all of modern lifes sell out and write what will sell attitude isn't preasent. good honest genuine music.

  • omg ... what the hell happened ?? bah stupid WMG .. must remember NEVER to buy anything associated with them .. arseholes -.-

  • For God's sake, do these peasants at WMG believe they own copyrights of Debussy? That's more than ridiculous and such foolish claim has vcertainly brought stupidity to a brand new level.

  • WHAT BUNCH OF HORSE SHIRT!!!

  • nice............

  • Excuse me, what? Oh for the love of- That's just asinine.

WMG is just going to have to accept the reality that they're being left in the dust, and that they can't win a fight against the entire world.

  • copyrights piss me off.

    fkn pathetic.

  • WMG shout shit and youtube jump on the shovel...

  • Pffft, not authorized by WMG? What, does that Twatlight trash OWN this classical piece now?! Hardly!

  • to JackMcQuack: congratulations, troll, you got someone to respond to your illogical, uneducated bs re: copyrights. I'd highly recommend opening up at least ONE book, before puffing up your big fat internet feathers on your turkey ass!

  • Oh please, WMG, I doubt you even can have a valid copyright on this piece.

You are only damaging yourself with this ridiculous thing!

  • ridículos!!!!

  • whats next, they copyright certain words, then copyright the way we do a shit. Lets just copyright it all. Stupid broken law!

  • @danielkirk1 umm, where you been. "three-peat" has already been copyrighted by Pat Riley, Basketball coach, back when he uttered the phrase during his Laker years. You now can't sell any merchandise with the word three-peat in any form without out paying royalties to Mr Riley.

  • @Cirris Thats also alot of bullcrap! But i mean god... A dead composer? Maybe jesus has copyrights after him, i feel clueless in this world.

  • @danielkirk1 sadly, when you have a bunch of backslapping lawyers running the country you get silly laws like this. The Patent office is a perfect example of the US turning to shit because of our litigious politicians making unnecessary jobs for their lawyer friends. But yes, it seems excessive that a song over 100 years old would warrant copyright protection. Hell, even "Happy Birthday" is copyright protected.

  • @danielkirk1

The recording is what's copyrighted, NOT Debussy's piece. The company owns the rights to their particular recording because the PERFORMER of this recording is still alive.

  • @Jaydoggy531 Who cares about the performer. It's still not right. This system is a joke! This moron (sorry if you're a fan of the guy) should not copyright what he performs. How can you copy a performance anyway?

  • @danielkirk1

The performer doesn't hold the copyright. The record company does. And record companies as you know want their share. It's a business.

  • so if i play debussy on piano its copyright infrangment?

  • Flagged for "bullying", fuck you WMG!!!

  • The music isn't copyrighted anymore, but the recording itself is. The record company may have complained.

  • How can they mute this piece of art!!!???

  • go figure. will someone please invent a way around these copyright idiots?

  • How is this copyrighted? Has the composer not been dead for some time now?

  • FUCK TO THE FUCKING COPYRIGHT LAW! HELL DAMN YOU MOTHERFUCKERS!

  • after the composer has been dead for a certain amount of time, the music becomes public domain. usually it's 95 years but in some cases it varies

  • No...this was posted WAY before the twilight movies came out...

  • WMG shout shit and youtube jump on the shovel...

  • I'm boycotting WMG. Bunch of wankers!

  • Please have a listen to my interpretation of Clair De Lune if you have the time, I would truly appreciate it. You can find it on my page or here watch?v=mw3m6XHJFyc

Rate or Subscribe if you enjoy. Thank you.

  • Damn it, how in the hell is 100 year old music still in copyright? You assholes

  • @imashaaark The music isn't; the rendition of it is, though I have a hard time imagining how they happened to notice that this is the exact audio from whatever recording of theirs. On second thought, whoever posted this more than likely ripped the audio from the Twilight soundtrack. That would explain it.

  • fuck WMG

  • q hijo de puta no esta la cancion

  • the thing is, I've purchased this recording and other recordings of this song. I just don't have them on this computer. So I want to listen to what I've purchased...but I can't :(

  • just do a search on your computer then...

  • Fuck off RIAA and all that gangsters!

  • Jay / Jack you said that right! grief .. cant believe they nixed this ... not making me buy any music, thats for sure. All it does is to make me NOT buy music. How ridiculous, YT/WMG.

  • Music should be free, so no, i wont conform to your law, WMG.

  • @MikeyFTR lol it should be free ? the ppl who make the music YOU like would also like to eat and have a home u know. thats like saying YOU should work for free. whatever u do. if ppl never buy any music there will be NO MORE music. only the guys playing a guitar u meet on the cty streets hoping you would throw some pocket change in their hat. anyways i can live with ppl listening on youtube but when u put in mp3. please buy it

  • @jambiiii00

Come on, if you where not living in a country in the extrem right you'll probably know about public domain and public subvention... Culture should never be subject to market law, and if no one would buy musique, maybe the art scene will get free of big bad band ans real artist could emerge

  • @EmpereurFrancois

    ur not making any sense...

ur saying making illegal coppies of music is correct?

comercial bands will always be there. but noone stops you from buying music from small unknown bands. but atleast respect ppl's work and pay for it. dusnt matter if its commercial music or not.

  • @jambiiii00 I admit late night comment are not really sensed... but well, now in the morning...

Well, in canada, making copie, for private purpose, is not in fact illégale, and that,s a good law =), the fact it is illegale in the us dosent make it imorale, in fact, applying to user payer to a productuct that cost the exact same price to distributed to 10 000 than to billion is plain stupide and counterproductive (you'll tell me that this is not true, but it is not true because the companie

  • @jambiiii00 decided to, with p2p the cost of distribution of even hi-fi quality is 0).

by using those law to a cultural product, we limit the amount of culture people can get (i know no teenager who will buy a classic CD, but if it for free... they'll lisen to it) wich kill the local music and independant music (if you need to chose what to pay, you'll pay for what you know...you wont risk a guess). free acces to music permit to band to get now and to then make money in show

  • @jambiiii00 or getting money from the government. (in canada, we actually have a taxe on all recording material that go to artist).

With that kind of arrangement, with the same amount of money, everyone can have as much music as they want, and the money can be better distributed for the whole population, not just protecting big compagnie who are not usefull to anyone anyways. Art will not be stop because people don,t buy music.. that plain demagogy

  • @EmpereurFrancois its an intresting point. i see what you mean. unfortunatly the system is flawed.

  • another false claim... FUCK OFF WMG

  • it has no sound

  • This is a masterpiece. Shame on the WMG for not allowing the public to enjoy this beautiful song.

  • How the fuck is Debussy still in Copyright?

  • It's not the piece that's copyrighted, it's the performance.

  • if you have a bank loan ..then they own u too..lol

  • soooo ..whats the point of having this on utube ..? ? who owns wmg ?

  • Comment removed

  • soooo ..whats the point of having this on utube ..? ?

  • Boycot WMG and Sony-music in the future!

  • WARNER MUSIC GROUP bought the exclusive rights to this piece, from whom??? Dubussy's family? It's public domain and, by the way WMG, Twilight is an infantile program which will not even be remembered in 5 years. Claire de Lune is a gift to the world which will outlast all of our memories. Shame on you, Warner!

  • WMG SUX!!!

  • Curse you, WMG! You cannot put a copyright on music that doesn't belong to you.

This video is protected by the Fair Use Doctrine! Copyright Disclaimer Under Section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976, allowance is made for "fair use" for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research. Fair use is a use permitted by copyright statute that might otherwise be infringing. Non-profit, educational or personal use tips the balance in favor of fair.

  • @Moon0Royalty , you are awesome.

  • @Moon0Royalty Fair use or not, the copyright for this piece of art has expired since it is WELL over 75 years old. It was written in 1890 and published in 1905. So ANYONE and EVERYONE can do whatever they please with it. It belongs to the world now.

  • @Moon0Royalty This isn't fair use, I'm afraid, and while the music doesn't belong to WMG, the recording might. It's obnoxious, I know, but totally legal.

  • sencillamente...

    se la maman!!!

  • hmm...well, WMG guess i'll just have to listen to this on one of the MILLION other links to my right that have your property AKA DeBussy's genius and hard work.....pricks

  • MUSIC IS FREEEEEEE !!! Nobody owns it and nobody can put a copyright sign on it. 5* thought ....

  • WTF?! WMG has nothing to do with DEBUSSY!!! THEY DO NOT OWN IT!!!

  • si youtube va a empezar a poner copyright en los videos o a borrarlos mejor que borre todos los videos cierto?

  • This blind, bookish & narrow-minded adherence to the letter of the law will be the DEATH of Classical music . . . only by exposing the General Public to great pieces such as "Clair de Lune" will Classical music continue to live . . . great music shouldn't be locked up & left mouldering in some "dusty museum"!

  • @jayatfreelance same for all music!

listening to a song on youtube isnt bad for music

Simon Cowell is bad for music!

  • @jayatfreelance @dcbandnerd you two just got a really rare thumbs up from me.

  • @jayatfreelance

there are plenty more places to hear it, your argument is pointless.

  • There are two main copyrights in recorded music...one is the copyright in the sound recording, the other is the copyright in the composition itself. Debussy's music may be very old and out of copyright.... however... the sound recording may not be. It is rightly, to protect the performer and the owner of the sound recording. Want to come and see a new song arrangement/adaptation of Debussy's Clair de Lune set to the very old poem that inspired it? Come and visit my recording on my channel!

  • Claro como que debussy pedia derechos de copyright y una mierda para la puta wmg

  • WMG F***K YOU !

  • Hve to admit I'm really torn about the whole copyright thing with music.

Sure this was one of my favorite pieces on youtube, and I'd love to be able to hear it right now.

On the other hand, who in their right mind would spend thousands recording this piece professionally when they're not allowed to charge anything for the effort. Musicians have to earn a living somehow.

  • They don't own the rights to the composition but they probably own rights to this particular performance. There is a difference. I don't like it either but get your facts straight.

  • Hopefully the parasitic fiend that is WMG will end its foolish copyright claims on Youtube.

  • No one owns this song; there are some things that were given to us as people. Some things so powerful that they belonged to all people, all generations. Clair de Lune is one of those things, and to hell with the people and laws that say otherwise.

  • Fuck you WMG, you do NOT own this!

  • This particular ban for this particular video is most likely illegal. Seriously.

  • Warner Music Group can suck my monster cock

  • Zombies D:

  • This was one of the best "Clair de Lune"-vids on Europe. Keep up the good work WMG in the peantime you're a synonym vor evil...

  • i though that once the composer had been dead for like over 100 years then you can listen to it whenever, and download it free legally... obviously not. but what the hell... WMG is not Debussy...!

  • kill the music

  • co-sign

  • fuckin arseholes, can't they see how many people have enjoyed this!!!! Millions of people don't agree with you removing this you fuck!

  • lol If I had performed the piece, I'd be glad people were listening to my rendition... Unless I were weird and greedy...

  • WMG DOES not have a contract with debussy right? I mean, it was over a 100 yrs ago that this music piece was made.

  • hahaha I'm TOTALLY AGREE with you

wtf is going on with youtube????

  • Please boycott WMG. They are cultural parasites.

  • Just a bunch of corporate fat cats ripping people off for their own pockets...

  • From Wikipedia:

Debussy wrote the suite in 1888 at age 26, but it was not published until 1903.

So, you've violated a 147 year old composer's 106 year old copyright? You're going to burn for that!

  • Copyright gets old in 50 years

  • @JackMcQuack

They are not claiming the music as their own, and thus have not broke any copyright.

  • @JackMcQuack copyrights expire after a certain amount of years lol funny point tho :)

  • @JackMcQuack Just because a song is out of copyright doesn't mean that a given recording thereof is. A pianist has a right to protect their playing, et cetera.

  • ARRRRGGHHH!!!!!! fuggin bitches!!!!!!

WMG are a Slag of a music company!!!!!

  • yeah FUCK U WMG! neva gona buy music from your label!

  • It may played by Isao Tomita. That could be a part of the Warner (cunts!) catalogue.

  • public domain. long dead. should not be copyright issues. some thiefs are stealing from everyone !

  • copyright bullsh1t!! wtff
