No... the sad thing is eveningcoconut is that you have subverted the truth!
One day YOU will stand in front of God Himself at Judgment and will have to explain yourself. What will you then say to a Righteous and Holy God? The one that you evidently despise.
You may end up hearing those ever so dreadful words from the mouth of Christ, "Depart from me, for I never knew you."
This is the actual CORRECT and FACTUAL quote. Try researching the actual archives next time!
Thomas Jefferson to Joseph Priestley, 21 March 1801. The relevant part reads:
"Those who live by mystery and charlatanerie, fearing you would render them useless by simplifying the Christian philosophy,—the most sublime and benevolent, but most perverted, system that ever shone on man,—endeavored to crush your well-earned and well-deserved fame."
Folks like you that comment the way you do with total disdain toward God are what Jefferson is speaking about. YOU and the others pervert Christianity by your lies and misguided statements! May God forgive you!

The sad thing is that the Founding fathers were in fact chirstian. They had prayer meets before a session and everything. All anyone has to do is look it up. In 1930 this was in every textbook. However, the liberals who write the textbooks didn't like it so they decided to change it in the late 1900's 1940 and up. TH eliberals who write the textbooks have to learn that you can't change history it is like with the holocaust IT DID HAPPEN!!! YOu can't escape that FACT something that can be proved
Sorry megaman but it is the Christians who rewrote history and taught their revisionist lies in schools for generations. The founding fathers state in their own words that they are Deists. Yes, many of them mingled with Christians and attended Church services. It was more for social reasons than religious as they found the idea of a "savior" and personal god a bit absurd, which it is...
I still stand by what I said. Can youprove me wrong? THe only reason I as is because there are documents that show that there were prayer sessions and the other things I said. Look it up if you want or not. Last time I checked I still had the right to say what I want.
Some Founding Fathers were Christian. Some were certainly not (Franklin and Paine can both be described as deist at best). However, that is beside the point. The Fathers created a secular government when they could have set up a theocracy. "So help me God" could have been included in the Presidential oath in the Constitution... it is not.
@megaman4life Yes they were Christian...52 of the 55 founders were Christian....The devil is always hard at work and very good at deceiving people! How dare these liberals state this nation did not have a Christian beginning as it did. That's what made us special and the reason we have lasted but now we are losing freedoms and being taxed to death and are deeply in debt---thanks A lot progressives and Obama! YOU rotten usurpers!
its funny how all christian lunitics claim the founding fathers were born again christians or jahovva wittnesses they were deists and agnostics and free thinkers who belived in god but not christ!get over it pat robertson!
I'm not sure that that has been proven. It has been brought up as a possibility. I've heard that it's called "fragging"- maybe, one day, we'll know the whole truth behind his death. It seems to be hush, hush now...
I understand that the Treaty of Tripoly was written while Washington was president and was signed by Senator John Adams. You're right, the video says "penned" and I should have typed "signed by"- I would like some more info on the "fake" Washington quote. I got my info from "Fighting Words" by Robin Morgan.
@eveningcoconut76 It could not have been signed by "Senator" John Adams. If you know your history you would know that when George Washington was president. John Adams was his vice president!
The Treaty of Tripoli you imply was written by John Adams. It was not. It was written by a bureaucrat named Joel Barlow.
The United States consul-general to the Barbary states of Algiers, Tripoli and Tunis was Joel Barlow, who dealt with the text of the Treaty of Tripoli. Commissioner Plenipotentiary of the United States, David Humphreys, was given the right to establish a treaty with Tripoli and assigned Joel Barlow and Joseph Donaldson to broker it. It was Joel Barlow who wrote it.
It has been proven George Washington didn't say that. that quote is a well known fake. Why don't you try reading his Iaugural Address if you want to know his feeling on blessings?
George Washinton, 1st Inaugural Address, April 30, 1789:
"I shall take my present leave; but not without resorting once more to the benign Parent of the Human Race in humble supplication that, since He has been pleased to favor the American people with opportunities for deliberating in perfect tranquillity, ... so His divine blessing may be equally conspicuous in the enlarged views, ... and the wise measures on which the success of this Government must depend."
When you consider when they were living (and indeed where - a brand new country no less) - they were the ultimate freethinkers.
These characters would be spinning in their graves so fast you could run America's national electricity grid from them because of the current theocracy in charge.
