  • Sounds a hell of a lot better than Jesus Camp, where you attend lectures about how Harry Potter is the devil...

  • Atheists aren't just becoming more vocal. We're one of the fastest-growing groups in America.

  • @ndrthrdr1

And you've got the biggest tits...

  • this is not an "atheist camp". this is skeptical camp, atheism is just one of many things that comes from sketisim. this is critical thinking camp

  • there are atheists in in texas o: hell thers democrat wtf!!!! omg........its judgment day......by richiard dawkins

  • camp quest is an amazing learning environment and i can't wait for this summer's camp in a few weeks! :)

  • @ohmalak Well, good luck with that. I'm a Christian and I say that Camp Quest is not for me.

  • @Rkerekes13 - any particular reason why? Just because it's not religiously-affiliated, doesn't mean that your Christianity is incompatible with participating in science games, critical thinking, and burning of marshmallows (you could pretend yours are sinners roasting in hell for lacking nutritious ingredients, LOL).

After all, if you have a defensible doctrine and are walking the truth, it should benefit from knowledge of science and survive critical thinking, nu?

  • Copying Christians. What's next? Atheist schools, atheist churches, atheist hymns??

  • @Nobleeagle100 Well christians copied from jews who then copied from the ancient sumerian, egyptian, and other old time pagan beliefs and stories. So what's your point hypocrite?

  • @Nobleeagle100

Lol, i love how idiotic you're.

  • @Nobleeagle100

    "Copying Christians."

If you were using 'copying' as an adjective, I agree. Here is a very short list of things Christianity has stolen from other religions/belief systems:

    The cross

    Christmas

    Christmas trees

    Easter

    the madonna

    ad nauseum

Google 'what have Christians stolen from other religions' and open your eyes to the hypocrisy of your religion.

  • If you're teaching children they're animals.... it''s child abuse plain and simple.

  • @prosperousindividual Why is that? my daughter knows about evolution and how we are all part of the animal kingdom. that's not abuse that just knowing our true origins. You know what is abuse, telling children that god loves them and that if they don't believe in him they will burn in hell for eternity.

  • @bombarderoazul Please stop abusing your child by teaching the well-refuted lie that she's an animal... read the book by Johnathan Safarte... which destroys the theory of evolution completely... God DOES love your daughter and teaching her otherwise is child abuse. Visit creation, com and icr,org for a real education from real scientists doing real science!.. and be free from the most closed-minded position imaginable!

  • @prosperousindividual Wow are you serious, biologically speaking humans are animals, this is a fact that can not be denied. Do you know biologist and pharmaceuticals who create vaccines and medicines, they do research on animals. Why do you think they test medicines on animals for humans. It's because we are related, nearly all scientists accept evolution. The real scientists are the ones that create vaccines, who accept the scientific method. those scientists you mention are bigots and phonies.

  • People are not animals. Just because a medicine is effective for animals that does not secure its effectiveness in people. They use animals because it's better than using popsickle sticks. Adaptation in vaccine development does not equal proof of microbe-to-man evolution. It only shows adaptation within a genus as predicted by the Bible. Veterinarians cannot practice on people because they are not animals. And many scientists disbelieve microbe-to-microbiologist evolution...

  • @prosperousindividual Oh i see it now, you were just joking. For a minute I thought you were serious he he he. I see you are an atheist too! good for you!

  • I sooooo.... have to volunteer for this - maybe next year.

  • I wish I went to a camp like this as a kid, instead of having Islam drilled into my head. "You will go to hell if you don't obey, god sees everything you do" blah blah blah.

  • This is dumb. Atheism is not a religion.

Here in Panama, those children could be taken away from their parents.

  • @rpcarnell Then panama sucks.

  • @DjRalfy It is a third world country, and a confessional state. Of course it does.

  • camp fun vs consintration camp......christan camp vs athest camp

  • im not christan im not muslim im not atheist...my religon is no religon i think that all the gods from all religons is wrapped into one god up in the sky we only look.Religon is man made but a bond with the creater is spirtule

  • @smokelahoma1

    watch?v=4-vDhYTlCNw&feature=feedf

  • @smokelahoma1 Your a theist.

  • whats the world gone to? camps like this the truth is god is real he mad us no cells or anything like that gods reall and thats it when god comes to claim his ppl they will see that the lord is real.

  • @darius777ful "see..." G-D=Invisible imaginary Fiction. He EVOLVED out of ☼MG☼Ddesse S☼NNE=the VISIBLE propulsion of the Evolution of all live beings on Earth. Holy Scripture=Biggest SCAM ever. Read the BOOK OF THE DEAD. The 10 commandements were already EVOLVED, only to become PLAGIARIZED in the Holy Scriptures. Cross=Swastika=SunBeams=Glorification NOT death penalty. JC=Jesus[Christus=TITLE!=Anointed(Savior)] never existed: He EVOLVED out of the posthume glorification of JC=Julius Caesar.

  • @kleenex3000 ? what

  • @darius777ful Summary: "777" as well as "666" are bogus. They are inventions by human brains, to infect other human brains with fake HOPE and FEAR, respectively and to sandwich them between these two fake but existencial basic emotions.

  • @kleenex3000 umm not there all real u just dont belive but all the none belivers will see that when god comes to claim his ppl yall will see and rember i told u this dont wont u to burn,

  • @darius777ful Are you degrading yourself, to a robot "INPUT=Transfection Vector=Holy Scripture; causes OUTPUT=Christophilic Theophrenia=Christ Psychosis?" Upon your argumentation ALLAH would be real, IF you had been born, by any "chance" into an Islamic family.

  • those types of camps have been around for years... They're just camps without the bible studies and hellfire threats. My alma mater used to have camps for kids from 3 to 16 every summer where they're taught a lot of things about life without the unnecessary religious superstitions and/or myths.

  • Ha ha, there's hope for the US yet.

  • About time, I'm all for schools being set up with a similar objective.

    Educate don't indoctrinate.

  • lol @ Atheist summer camps. I'm definitely sending my three year old here. I want him to learn Richard Dawkins at an early age!

  • Excellent post!

  • These are not "atheist kids" they are kids of atheist parents. However, we may say that they are kids not indoctrinated by religion but bathed in the waters of reason.

  • oh yeah, Religilous is a great watch. I thought it was interesting.

  • Ok... I believe in Christ and I'm a free thinker. Religion is a guideline. You can make up the rules as you seem fit. Now that's a lil radical, isn't it? I mean, some believer's actually have brains. (I might be a sheep in Christ's flock but I'm not a sheep, if ya know what I mean, ya dig?

  • What a wonderful day will dawn, when we can all (finally) sit down and have a respectful discussion about this sort of thing - as in:

    1) avail ourselves of all the scientific and philosophical insight humanity has accumulated over the previous 2000 years, rather than:

    2) espouse a 1st century position as preserved in the Bible.

Why would anyone want to choose approach #2?

  • It is telling, that the inordinate respect accorded to religious faith applies only to those religions possessing of many adherents. Someone caught worshipping Zeus, even outside during an electrical storm, would be considered deranged.

  • Good job!

    A place for OUR stuff.

    That's a very fair thing.

That's all atheists want, is a place for our stuff; and a place where theology isn't stuffed down our throats!

A very good job. Well done!

  • @WhyRyouStupid If your so concerned about anything being stuffed down there throats then whats wrong with just plain old camp? When I was a kid we had the Wood Craft Rangers & no one spoke of religion or faith, just camping & fun. There are hundreds of secular camping orgs. It seems you don't mind kids being indoctrinated as long as the indoctrination is based on your world view. Why not let kids experience the world & when their older they can make up their own minds. Its called free thought.

  • this is awesome....... take that Jesus Camp !!!

  • They should raise their kids outside of texas, there are just too many religious fanatics there.

  • Wow, Athiests camp in Texas?

  • wow i camp for ppl who dont believe in fairy tales!!! i hope sensible thinking keeps catching on!

  • Pretty good place...we should have more of those.

  • they had to ruin a perfectly optimistic report with some sad-sack theologian commentary tacked on the end.

(Theology is the study of how to avoid the inevitable embarrassment of religion, btw)

  • sweet. when i have my kids they need to go too ne of this camps :D

  • "atheists, agnostics, free thinkers, non-religion-followers", aka sane people.

  • Thumbs up for teaching children critical thinking and reasoning skills!!! Just as giving a person a fish will feed them for a day while teaching a person to fish will feed them for a lifetime, so too teaching a person what to think will serve them through the day while teaching a person how to think will serve them through a lifetime.

  • O my God. Teaching children to think for them selves. And curricle thinking as well.

You would never see this at a Christian camp.

  • If your really concerned about kids making up their own minds and thinking for themselves, you wouldn't send them to a camp to get indoctrinated into atheism at seven years old. Give me a break man. The parents are sending kids off to think like themselves. Lets cut the bullshit. Even many atheist have spoken against this, and feel it is counter productive to free thinking itself. Childrens fiction books, imagination and creative thought process are very important to the development of children.

  • i dont have any problem

with kids, just having fun and learning about science and rational thinking.

I am an atheist, and it is kinda ridiciolious

    to make an atheist camp.

it should be about science, evolution and the universe.

    Religion is not real.

  • @zacky89 Hi Zack. Well I didn't saw them doing atheist things. I saw kids getting fun and excercise.

Did they burned bibles or something and I didn't noticed?

  • @benthemiester

    You're nuts.

    Here's why.

You'd be perfectly happy to indoctrinate these kids; as young as 7 years old, in a Sunday School, or Jesus Camp.

If that's ok, so is this. Get the children to think for themselves as early as is possible. Send them to Atheist camp at 6 years of age!

  • @WhyRyouStupid "You'd be perfectly happy to indoctrinate these kids; as young as 7 years old, in a Sunday School, or Jesus Camp"

No sir I think your nuts. Your making assumptions claiming that I'm happy to indoctrinate children, and you don't even know me, nor do you have any proof that I have indoctrinated children in any faith. This implies to me that you are a delusional person prone to a biased knee jerk reactions that is void of any evidence or facts. Classic conspiracy based paranoia.

  • @benthemiester

Nah...it just implies that I don't give a rat's ass about your god.

    Clear enough for you?

I don't give a rats ass about god.

If these parents wants to send their kids her, because they also don't give a rat's ass about your god...I'm all for it and them

  • @WhyRyouStupid Your sentiments have nothing to do with the point I made concerning hypocrisy on the part of those who say young children shouldn't be indoctrinated. If it makes you feel better to vent. That is your choice. However I do give you credit for your honesty about your hatred. You are the true face of atheism for the large majority of atheist. In fact I wish all were as honest as you.

  • @benthemiester @benthemiester She didn't say she hated believers in G_d. She said she didn't give a rat's ass about G_d. There is a difference. I happen to believe in G_d, but this camp doesn't threaten me or my beliefs. Aren't you secure enough in YOUR beliefs not to be threatened by this camp?

I people can send their kids to Christian Camps, and we Jews have a similar camp...why shouldn't atheists be allowed the same rights and privileges?

  • @HSOUIXZ That was a women using language like that? Didn't realize that. Of course... words like this don't imply hatred. What was I thinking? She's a lot more honest than U. At least she didn't try to sugar coat it with Simon says, Simon didn't say BS. My critique was not about my sensibilities, it was about a dual standard & hypocrisy from those guilty of the same they accuse zealots of. I agree with u, atheist have the right to indoctrinate their kids. Just have the courage to admit it.

  • Comment removed

  • @HSOUIXZ If you feel its your duty to defend those who would publicly mock Gods name, then you have every right to do so. I'm not sure if I could do that and still call myself a Christian, since I know that God would never forsake me or defend those who would mock me as his child, but I guess that's your choice.

  • @HSOUIXZ "I people can send their kids to Christian Camps"

I saw the we Jews statement but wasn't sure if that was a spelling error like above.

Fair enough. Like whyareyoustupid, your also a Jew. Then take the statement I made about about being loyal to a God who would not forsake you and replace the word Christian with Jew, the meaning is still the same.

  • @benthemiester I'm not a jew. I think your belief in god is a fool's folly and a waste of time. Soooo, I say good-bye to; you internet troll. To continue to post to would be stupid. Go save someone else. Prey( and yes, I mean this spelling "prey") on someone else. It's your god, their your rules, you go to hell.

Have a nice though on your way there.

BTW: "HSouixZ" is a phonetic spelling Susie and the use of the first initial of her last name. It's on her channel. Mine is an all atheist channel

  • Typo correction...(silly character limit)

"Have a nice though on your way there."

    Should have read as follows:

"Have a nice DAY, though on your way there."

Corrections provided free. Limit 2 per post!

Please do visit my channel, benthemiester. You will enlightenment there. No god crap, just enlightenment.

  • @WhyRyouStupid

You accuse me of being a troll when your the one using incinerating language.

    "I'm honest. I'm honestly a Jew" "I'm not a jew."

Those are your words. You then go on to criticize my grammar, which is fair enough, but the funniest part is you then go on to say and I quote, "Please do visit my channel, benthemiester"............... "You will enlightenment there" That's OK, I think I have had enough enlightenment & grammar lessons from you, but thanks for the offer.

  • @benthemiester

Ok, you're just nuts. She didn't criticize YOUR grammar, you twit....she corrected HER spelling. Are you on medication? Have you taken it today?

I think you meant to direct the Jew comment to me. I'm the JEW. and I'm not going to debate whose god has a bigger rod. It's not a religious pissing contest.

The point of this video, is that Atheists and their families have a place to send their kids for hiking, and camping that doesn't begin and end with a prayer.

    Understand now?

  • @HSOUIXZ Maybe u do do honor the sabbath and go to Temple or Synagogue but between the both of u I have to take everything with a grain of salt. She said she was a Jew now she says she's not a Jew. I don't believe I'm confusing u. According to her email she also referred to herself as a Jew & has now retracted it. If I tell you I'm a Muslim, that wouldn't be a typo that would be a lie. I don't take medication but if someone does its nothing to be ashamed of. I have a feeling that someone does.

  • @HSOUIXZ No hatred here, you ladies are just filled with bubbling sunshine.

  • @benthemiester Please tell me the thread where I tried to have an argument on the existence of God. I have been very clear about freedom of choice as whether to believe or not to believe. Why is this being hateful?

  • @benthemiester

Now you're posting to your self. That's just sad.

If she wants to not believe, how does that affect either you or me?

She doesn't need defending. It's her right to not believe. Just like it's these parents right to send their kids to this camp.

If she hurt your itty bitty little feelings, :"there-there."

    Now get over it.

You've got jesus. Ask yourself: "What would jesus do?"

    I think he'd he'd get over it.

Now you do the same. Get over it and yourself.

    I'm done. Bye-byte, now.

  • @HSOUIXZ It is her right to believe people like you are idiots and insinuate that you believe in mumble jumbo. I may not be the smartest guy on the planet but I know who she's speaking of, and its not just me sweetheart. "She doesn't need defending" Then why are you defending her by saying she doesn't need defending? If your willing to be friends with someone who looks down on your spiritual belief with a visceral hatred that you choose to believe doesn't exist, its not hurting my feelings.

  • @benthemiester

Oh go visit her channel. What are you afraid of. She wont try to convert YOU. You can visit the channel, it might clear up a few things for you.

There's an old saying: "if it looks like troll, and posts like a troll...it's more than likely a troll"

I think it hit to close to home. You're wanting someone to be baited and discuss whether or not there is a god. Then you want fight over whose god is the correct god. You're the one with hatred. She doesn't care what you believe in.

  • @HSOUIXZ Don't try figuring me out, I cant even do that. My initial thread was in response to something Dawkins acused people of faith of doing, which was indoctrinating their kids into the beliefs of the adults. In his opinion this is evil because he says they should choose what they want to believe on their own when they get older. As I said before, parents have every right to do this but in my opinion according to the Dawkins ditto heads, this is a dual standard. What sect of Judaism are u?

  • @HSOUIXZ I visited her channel & I heard her say many times more that she didn't give a @#$% about GOD, In fact, she didn't give a shit so much, she spent the next several paragraphs reiterating how she doesn't give a shit. This seems to be an indication of a contradiction. I don't believe in little green men from outer space but I'm not going to continually repeat how much I don't give a shit them, & if I dedicated a whole channel to it repeating myself, then I would obviously be lying.

  • @HSOUIXZ This women you have befriended thinks your an idiot who believes in mumbo jumbo. She said she didn't give a shit about your heavenly father. This is no reason to hate her, but to defend her accusations is pretty strange. I at least I'm willing to except your faith on good faith, and yet your harsh words are directed at me. I'm a big boy and have had sharper tongues directed at me but it is really puzzling why you would defend a belief and world view of someone who thinks your a fool.

  • @HSOUIXZ U keep saying bye bye but when I check my email I find you have sent a few messages. I grew up in Boyle Heights in LA. It was a major Jewish hub at one time and still has a few old Synagogues. I know the difference between many of Russian convert stock who cling culturally to Judaism, and true Jews who may or may not be of the same stock who actually worship & defend their belief in God passionately. Judaism is not a race, its a way of life. Yes I think it is better that you say bye.

  • @benthemiester

You're asshole. Please don't respond. This isn't up for debate. You're an asshole. I'm just doing a bit of public service. I'm never going answer any post you type. It will fall on deaf ears. The reason of why your an asshole are far to many to include in this space. It has a lot less to do with your religious convictions. I personally can take or leave religion. I usually prefer to leave religion. I just I'd do my Civic Duty. Consider this a PSA.

    You're an asshole! Period.

  • @benthemiester

I wanted to do my Civic Duty. Consider this a PSA.

(Post corrected so there wouldn't be any misunderstanding.)

    Good night...asshole.

And yes, I do feel better. Much better. Thank you.

  • @NuckinFutzGirl PS. Good night too sweetheart.

  • @WhyRyouStupid "I don't hate you...I think you are pathetic.

I don't waste such strong an emotion on useless people.

It takes time, and energy to hate. You aren't worthy of either my time or energy"

Well so much for the honesty. My mistake I guess you are one to hide behind semantics after all.

The only thing I feel towards you is disagreement. However, personally I think as a human being you are worth tons of attention and time, but If you want to be left alone I can respect that.

  • @WhyRyouStupid certainly beats religious camps!

  • @WhyRyouStupid Many Jews don't believe that Christ is the true messiah or that he is the Son of God, but I have never heard a Jew who said he or she didn't give a Rats as about god. Since Judaism is not a race but a religion, the only thing I can conclude from your words is that you belong to a sect I have never heard of. I'm not even sure if the Kabbalah sect believes in this doctrine, but I guess u learn something new every day. I didn't know so many Christians and Jews supported atheism.

  • The only people who've "already made up their minds" are close-minded theists (christians, muslims, etc.)

Thank goodness there camps that foster critical thinking!

  • ROFL at " The overwhelming evidence for science supports a Creator, not Darwin's fairytale.." ROFL....This has to be the dumbest comment I have EVER read. I honestly believe that my dog is smarter than you.

  • @cartmanspp2 Yes indeed. Most of those, who were indoctrinated as children, have difficulty opening their minds. However, rationalists can help with freethinking. At least, I hope so.

  • It's good to see kids thinking for themselves, instead of being forcefully labeled and believeing that they are born to carry sin.

  • It is "quest camp" not atheist camp. They are not taught to be atheists. They are taught to think for themselves. No one pushes them in any direction but that of their own choosing.

  • Very cool and right in my backyard too.

    There's hope for mankind yet.

  • Hmm, atheist camp, now how does a child who is barely old enough to read decide he/she is an atheist. In the end everything amounts to INDOCTRINATION, whether Christian or atheist. I wonder if these children have had the chance to scrutinized and analyze every arguments for and against the existence of a deity before these adults chose to slam them with the ATHEIST label.

Richard Dawkins is against indoctrination, I wonder what he has to say about this, or its a different standard for atheists.

  • Dawkins likes the idea.

Because it's not "you are an atheist, conform child!"

It's as the woman says, teaching kids how to think critically.

    That's education not indoctrination.

Critical thinking makes you smart - there should be more of it.

  • Now I have to wonder why its called "ATHEIST CAMP" if children are only going to be thought how to think, aren't normal public/private schools good enough?! And if they're going to learn science aren't there "SCIENCE CAMPS" for such purpose?!

You cannot defend this by whatever means, the more you try the more comical you sound, lol.

  • It's not called "atheist camp",

    It's called Camp Quest

  • @jazzx251 but it is more or less a atheist camp

  • @efinlayson

What would you imagine goes on in "Atheist Camp" then?

Kids made to perform collective weeping in front of a cardboard cutout of Richard Dawkins? While an atheist Becky Fischer look-a-like tells them how they're all thick and therefore evil for not knowing why E=MC2?

It's basically all the harmless fun of a camp without the harmful religion. With, as the woman says, a focus on science and finding things out.

An extended science lesson with a canoe and some sheep.

  • ★★★★★

  • "non religious followers" - what does this guy think we are following? They can't get their minds around the fact that there is no Santa Claus???

  • Yup its hard for them to understand we do not have a belief you have to remember Christians have had the crap shoved down their throats since the day the were born.. they can' see life with being a person that stands on own two feet.

i think the camp idea is geat! social, logical and mechanical skills can be taught while the kids have fun!

At their age language skills would be easier to learn... which would be great way to bring people together also.

  • @ched

It does really? Is that why god informed Moses to command the armys to rape young girls?

The story is right there in bible.

Or how you can believe in leprechauns without evidence?

    Wheres your Critical thinking?

  • @chedachzballz Why did God give me everything I need to be an atheist debater?

  • @chedachzballz Yes, god gave me the logic to not believe in unicorns but he is going to send me to hell for not believing in him for the same reasons. You're a moron.

  • "Atheism stands to fall."

Atheism is on the rise, the reason it hasn't overtaken the "masses" is because of the stigma attached to being an atheist as well as societal pressures on becoming religious.

"Critical thinking is something God's word.."

Since when did you become a spokesperson for god? Let god speak for himself, if he exists.

"how many a scientists end up turnung away from atheism/evolutionary thinking"

Scientists tend to be the least religious & more atheistic than the average Joe.

  • They're gonna learn about evil science!

    OMG! OMG!

  • It's a slippery slope.

One minute they're taught to think for themselves, the next they'll be masterminding the end of the world from a secret underground location.

(All James Bond villains are scientifically minded and have an atheist outlook after all)
