Softball Pitching Tips and Drills - Increase Speed

hey i need help! for some strange reason i've started dragging my foot sideways towards the outside of the plate instead of straight and i'm not closing my hips at the end. do you know of any drills i could do to fix this?

@13Brittani na it doesnt just practice outside like 10+ minutes a day for at least a month and you will be great trust me i have played pitcher for 4 weeks and i can pitch fast strikes so dont give up

I'm left handed to, my friends say that I'm a better softball player than them because I am left handed. I believe that it doesn't matter what hand you pitch, hit, throw, or field with you just have to practice, practice, practice, the more you practice the better you get

you can't throw that fast to a catcher from that close, the idea of the drill is to build speed, not pitch from the correct distance or to a catcher.

your pitching fast, you can just do it to a catcher from a further distance

all you need is the right mechanics

Thanks for the free advice. My daughter can throw very hard but she tends to take to much off if she is having trouble finding the strike zone. This type of training should help her a lot!

this is one of the warm up drills that i use like every game :o

What this drill does is damage the fence, especially if it's done with any degree of frequency. This drill should be done into a net - not a fence. You can use the same net that your batters hit into off a tee. Sure, the ball will not conveniently roll back to you like it will off the fence, so you should probably have a bucket of balls next to you.

Yea I like this drill I have to do it cause I'm a pitcher. It helps u gain control of ur speed and it helps u snap ur wrist and get used to doing the same move over and over.

This is very nice to have access to for free. I run our little league program in Parkersburg Iowa and I will be forwarding these tips and drill on to our coaches and my players for sure. My daughter looks as though she may have a future in softball pitching. All my experience is in baseball and pitching is one area I am absolutley usless to her in teaching. I am a groundskeeper at a softball complex and what you are doing is something all groundskeepers frown on and that is throwing a ball into the fence. Replacing fences these days are very expensive so you might bear that in mind in the future.
