they wont legalize all drugs because most people go to jail for drug possession and are forced to work in prison factories for 25 cents an hour. its called slave labor and is perfectly legal. google it.
If "drugs" as in the illegal ones in the US are all legalized, then police can spend more time arresting troubled civilians for crimes such as murder and theft. Drugs however are too valuable to your US government. It helps pays for all the robotic and experimental warfare they are fueling in the middle eastern countries.
Pharmaceutical companies make over 250,000,000 dollars a year of selling their prescription(drugs) why not go for the gusto and get in to cocaine and heroin business. People who want to do drugs, are going to do them regardless, why not make a buck off it like the assholes who sell percocet, vicoden and all those other opiate drugs, viagra and other that super duper fly shit.. Hey, I'm not telling you anything that you already don't know
Im a libertarian who finds most leftist to be pretty annoying on most issues. But I've always found Hartmann to be a thoughtful and mostly rational liberal. But JESUS he interrupts his guests a lot. The interview he did with Stephen More was crazy.
There are three types of people who support drug prohibition.
1. Those who legally gain employment, power and/or money by exploiting the victims of the war on drugs (ie. district attorneys, judges, lawyers, police officers, the prison industrial complex)
2. Those who profit directly from the black market created by prohibition. (gangsters, drug cartels, mafia, etc.)
3. Mildly retarded people who actually think that the government is protecting her citizens through prohibition.
Funny how this video was cut so that the Ad at the beginning was included. I'll never get those particular seconds back. Now I'll listen to the rest. ...Okay. I heard some new perspectives and have really expanded my knowledge of this issue. Great video. Question: How do we get Congress to address issues like this when they're so occupied with whatever else they are prioritizing? War, Economy, "Jobs", etc. Maybe everyone wants legalization, but when will they get to the legal paperwork?
Our perceptions of our natural and social world has been shaped by the needs of the dominant political and economic interests, the GANGS OF CAPITALIST, Profit for a few is the driving force of our times, with their National Flags,Corporate Logos, Religious Dogmas, they divide to rule and dominate to PROFIT, The odious IDEOLOGY of the rulers has become the all embracing truth and common sense in a MARKET PLACE of dog eat dog of artificial scarcity and limits to our true creativities.
This guy Thom Hartmann needs to waffle and monopolise the interview time less. I just can't shake the feeling that he isn't so much interested in listening to his guest's views and airing them to the public, than in simply having time to push his own pet peaves.
Thom has so much going for him, but his love for the phrase "growing in your back yard" obscured too much of the real subject. Too bad as Sullum has so much to offer, but he just didn't get the chance to shine on this one because it focused too much on the little things.
I'm sorry but what a pathetic interview. Jacob Sullum is one my heroes, and this host waits untill the last 30 seconds before he lets Jacob lay out his argument against prohibition--the topic of dicussion! Thom needs to find another profession if he shows this level of disrespect to every guest on this show. - But maybe this was the result of having a "pro-drug" guest on the show? Either way, Thom clearly didn't know to whom he was speaking.
LSD is not found naturally. Morning glory seeds contain LSA.

Prohibition doesn't work. not only drugs, but prostitution gambling and gay marriage and other prohibitions should be legalized
