Agreed, proponents will tell you that CO2 absorbs photons over a larger energy range, but the absorption cross section for H2O in the narrow range is orders of magnitude higher, that couple with the fact that H2O exists at nearly 2 orders of magnitude larger concentrations, H2O still blows CO2 out of the water (no pun intended) as the major climate driver.

Except that given the Clausius-Clapeyron relation (i.e. Temperature sensitivity of water vapor)

Tropospheric watervapor can't act as a driver.

It can only act as an amplifer of other temperature factors.

Ahh, i see, you are only presenting one scientific hypothesis. There are valid claims that what you say might be true, but it has not been vetted in the scientific community yet. other theories show just the opposite and that a small variation in solar activity, which has occurred drive an increase in water vapor, which sprirals until the atmosphere self corrects itself. The absorption cross section of H2O does not change by much until the H2O molecule dissociates meaning it still dwarfs CO2

Actually we have. Most people only consider excess solar activity as a spike above the average maximum. This past 22 years we have been having well above average intensity in the solar minima causing the averaged received radiation to jump well outside of statistical variations. In many cases it has degraded our GPS coverage because we have had to put many satellite electrical components into a stored configuration in times when we never would do that.
