i watched this whole movie thinking it would answer my question (why make a movie about a guy who robbed £7 from a post offfice?) and it really didnt. im 19 and ive had a more interesting life than that guy. who is he, what has he done? why the fuck did anyone ever buy a book he wrote? i dont get it. the post office near my house got robbed some years ago. that guy went to prison but he didnt publish a FUCKING book.
@MythicalPredator He became the most brutal prisoner. What did you become of? Probably the same as every other human. Grew up, started to work, and died happily(of course there's more, but you get the point). But nothing interesting about it. This guy wanted to make a name for himself of course not in the good way, but still. Everyone will remember him, but no one will remember you.
@bravesfan5678 agree. but his perfomance in bronson is on a whole other ridiculisly fenorminal level as christian bale in american psycho and heath ledger's joker.
@HolyWhisp Have to agree with you. I watched this on Film4 a few weeks back and was genuinely taken aback with Hardys performance! It was fantastic.
The film is not as fast-paced at the trailer would have you think, but it really is a 'clockwork orange' for the 21st century. Have recommended it to anyone who likes movies that require at least 2 brain cells.
@naloac It's one of those movies that isn't defined by a genre, it transcends any genre and can simply be listed as a movie to see before you die.
If I'm totally honest, I didn't actually think Hardy was a very good actor until i saw this, he is in a recent movie called Warrior aswel which is fantastic.
@HolyWhisp I did actually watch Warrior last week and it lived up to my expectations. Great cast, well done script, well acted. Excited to see that Hardy is going to be playing Mad Max, hadn't heard that until today.
Antony Hopkins was foaming at the mouth or acting insane when he played Hannibal lecture, he was settle and he had no makeup on or green hair, you saw him crystal clear and he was convincing, he won the Oscar. The art of acting isn't just acting, it's your director and his vision, it's becoming someone else and taking the audience on the journey with you and, giving them something they haven't experienced before, felt before. Heath was amazing, we're still talking about it almost 4 yrs later.
@EverettDudgeon138 I understand what your saying about him just playing roles that never allowed him to display range or depth so essentially we haven't seen him do roles that were dark until then.ON THE OTHER HAND, I disagree with saying you could still see Ledger, in my opinion I forgot he was acting, playing someone psychotic doesn't always mean you have to be off the wall, it's the settle approach that blew people away, he didn't overact or try to hard, he simply became the character.....
AND JUST WHEN I THOUGHT IT COULDN'T GET ANY BETTER..........IT JUST DID! EPIC!!!! HURRY JULY 20, 2012. WE THE PEOPLE CAN NO LONGER WAIT FOR GOOD ENTERTAINMENT!!!! THANK YOU NOLAN FOR CREATING LEGENDARY WORK. just saw the trailer and prologue. wow. I knew Tom Hardy could bring it.
Read his autobiography. It asks more questions than it answers. The state will win because they make the rules & the rest of us aren't prepared to put our lives on the line to change it.
You'll be captivated from the start and glad you watched it...it's great...why spend money on cinema!!? you could do that for free on fillmsi.co.cc...
Well worth seeing movie. It has a deep intensity which keeps you close to the story.. The finale involves one of the most violent shoot outs in the history of cinema, I could say. It is not forced in any thing, but again...it is totaly awesome and different fromanything you have seen. watch it at look4movie
Has bronson ever killed anyone? A prison guard who met him told me that he has but there is absoulutely no mention of this on the internet, anyone know? maybe he was mistaken.
@limatedman No, he's never killed anyone. He got put in prison for armed robbery, yet he only stole 24 quid and the gun he had with him wasn't loaded, cause he didn't want to hurt anyone.
Heath Ledger took acting to a whole new level and the sad part is that no body else has done that since him. (my opinion don't kill me) UNTIL I saw Tom hardy as Bronson and then I said Bravo, we have another one. Fantastic actor. I have no worries about next years, DARK KNIGHT RISES.

@familyfun8609 I am sure he will kill it as bane. But as for warrior, i dont understand why people didn't watch it, it is an amazing film definitely my best film of the year and in my top 5 films ever. Just watch it and go crazy! Nick Nolte, Tom Hardy they were so amazing i got no words. I had seen Take but it has only 4 ep
@familyfun8609 I don't know if he took acting to a whole new level he simply was put in a role that he didn't normally play and he did a pretty good job of it, was an amazing performance...well no not really because you always knew it was Ledger. Now Oldman on the other hand...was not Oldman he was Jim Gordon. I found for a psychotic character the performance of the Joker was very "safe" as opposed to a David Hess' Krug, or a Joe Spinell's Frank Zito.
@familyfun8609 I agree, when I first heard about bane then realized it was tom hardy I was like, "Huh?" I personally thought Kevin Durand would've been a great pick for bane. But I haven't even seen the movie and just seeing this trailer gives me the nod that he will play bane greatly. Im guessing its this performance that made nolan give him the role. I know he was in inception but to play a super strongman takes dedication and seeing him portray bronson surely justifies your opinion. I agree..
@familyfun8609 I totally agree with you. I was a little worried about the dark knight rises cos I couldnt see it being better that the dark knight, as Heath was the most brilliant performer I have seen yet. Most time i watch the dark knight and forget it was heath until credit rolls. Hearing Tom was cast as Bane, after watching Bronson, I decided the dark knight rises could be better than the dark knight. He's amazing

Bane sounds like a british aristocrat if you watched that footage of them shooting DKR at Heinz field. PLus Tom Hardy was absolutely a tank in warrior.
@jrosepeps No, but I am fascinated by a glimpse into the life of a madman. I didn't find it mind-numbing. Maybe I just don't got as much smarts as you.
I think critics are just getting tired of CGI and were waiting for a movie to attack. After BATTLE LA I was debating whether to even see it. The fact is this movie is a terrific and creative movie, way better than it had to be. I found it on fillmsi.co.cc.
Double standard: people commenting that the film is sexist for showing off beautiful women when the majority of action films feature attractive, muscular men. Get this film on fillmsi.co.cc now and enjoy it!!
This film definitely is why Tom Hardy got picked for Bane. The real Charles Bronson's life story is strikingly similar of that of the fictional Bane: a surprisingly intelligent and creative man who spends his whole in prison and becomes a veritable human wrecking machine in the process. I think Hardy will do a fantastic job as Bane.
just saw warrior and wow! from just one movie tom hardy has become my favorite current day actor. i looked up other movies other then inception he's been in and stumbled across this. it looks amazing! cant wait to check this out and im mos def looking forward to his role as bane. damn, poor bats :(
When I watched this move it was like watching some lost Stanley Kubrick movie. It was eerie. The director had to be going for that exact feel. It doesn't feel like they were ripping off Kubrick's style. It just felt the whole way through that if Kubrick was alive, and he made this movie, this just exactly how it would be. Anyone who watches this and knows all Kubrick's work will know exactly what I mean......
@getheroutofthetruck Excellent call on that. He was Gaffer (who basically sets the entire lighting and shot) in the Shinning, and has tons of non-credited Lighting and camera setup positions in Tom Hooper films. Again... Excellent call on that. That solved it for me..... THX :)
@jstark069 You know you're right, I knew there was something about this movie I found familiar. It's done in such a strange style but it isn't off-putting, just like a good Kubrick film. Tom Hardy does a great job here too.
@jstark069 - I haven't seen the film, but I naturally was introduced to Nicolas Winding Refn's work by the much anticipated "Drive" with Ryan Gosling and Carey Mulligan. I saw some minor similarites - creatively and artistically with some of Kubrick's work (the "hammer" scene). But I think the closest filmmaker to Stanley Kubrick, stylistically, technically and subjectively would have to be Paul Thomas Anderson ("There Will Be Blood", "Boogie Nights").
@jstark069 i too got that feeling you know about Kubrick due to the jokes and the cool composure during violent times.....like in clockwork orange but the major difference is that unlike Kubricks film there is a pretty straight forward message and conclusion. Kubrick always had a ending to keep people talking. The art work and great timing of music also seems similar. Even if it was a ripoff at the great director it still would be a sign of respecting and looking at his work for inspiration
@RealH0rr0rsh0w I thought that as well when I saw There Will Be Blood. That movie also had a total Kubrick ending. Just like Clockwork Orange. Start the movie by the main person admitting they are scum. Then spend the whole movie trying to convince watchers that they may actually be decent, Just so at the very end they can say...."Nope.... I'm Scum and proud of it!!!" lol
ppl search for martina coles the take and watch the trailer it was a four part mini series shown on sky 1 tom hardy is creepy and scary as fuck in it very menacing if u havent seen bronson download it but i think he was amazing as freddie in martina coles the take download both at 1337x its a must see for everyone especially the doubters of tom hardy he will be awesome as bane cant wait for the dark knight rises come on hardy !!!
Just saw the film at fillmsi.co.cc. It was awesome. loved every second of it. the girls were hot, and perfect for their rolls. ww1 scene was the best. it also reminded me of charlies angels. but very very great film.
Bane was soo bland in Batman and Robin!!! If this is how Hardy is going to portray Bane in Dark Knight Rises, hell Im all for it. Theres a reason why we should put our faith in film-making on Christopher Nolan
@SuperSlyTime Why are u mad? Did i hurt ur feelings or something?... It's a fact he too small and there's more actors in this industry bigger then him with the same talent idiot.
How many times hollywood made batman movies? So far one has been good and that was the last one, so yeah i have expectation if they want my money u lil cunt lol.
@Farhan917 Yeah because we are stuck in the fucking dark ages and don't have the equipment to make an actor look taller. Yep, How big do you think the budget is $10 god damn dollars. Even if they don't I wouldn't be mad anyway. Call me crazy but when I watch a movie I care a little more about how good the actor is rather than how tall they are.
@GunRyd3r There's alot of ppl that can play Bane, all i'm saying is that why not stick to the cartoon? I'm not saying Tom Hardy isn't good actor, but we all know Bane isn't that small thats all i'm saying lol
I watched Bronson with Tom Hardy and he definetley carries the hard nut job role better than most, so he will be awesome as Bane in The Dark Knight Rises!
What exactly did the man in the psychiatric ward say to Bronson that got him so upset. I think he was saying something about "they don't understand us" and "your nuttier than me." I also heard something about a 9-year old girl? Thanks ;)

This was a fucking great film. I truly recommend everyone to watch this.

@jstark069 might have something to do with Larry Smith being the d.o.p?
getheroutofthetruck 4 months ago
@getheroutofthetruck Excellent call on that. He was Gaffer (who basically sets the entire lighting and shot) in the Shinning, and has tons of non-credited Lighting and camera setup positions in Tom Hooper films. Again... Excellent call on that. That solved it for me..... THX :)
jstark069 4 months ago
@jstark069 no probs. He was the d.o.p for Eyes Wide Shut too
getheroutofthetruck 4 months ago
@jstark069 You are 100% correct. It is good to see someone has a real view on these movies. Thank you.
MrAlaskamacs 4 months ago
@jstark069 You know you're right, I knew there was something about this movie I found familiar. It's done in such a strange style but it isn't off-putting, just like a good Kubrick film. Tom Hardy does a great job here too.
AColonDashSix 4 months ago
@jstark069 - I haven't seen the film, but I naturally was introduced to Nicolas Winding Refn's work by the much anticipated "Drive" with Ryan Gosling and Carey Mulligan. I saw some minor similarites - creatively and artistically with some of Kubrick's work (the "hammer" scene). But I think the closest filmmaker to Stanley Kubrick, stylistically, technically and subjectively would have to be Paul Thomas Anderson ("There Will Be Blood", "Boogie Nights").
JesusCristo2002 4 months ago
@jstark069 - But, there will never be another Stanley Kubrick. For me he's the greatest.
JesusCristo2002 4 months ago
@jstark069 i too got that feeling you know about Kubrick due to the jokes and the cool composure during violent times.....like in clockwork orange but the major difference is that unlike Kubricks film there is a pretty straight forward message and conclusion. Kubrick always had a ending to keep people talking. The art work and great timing of music also seems similar. Even if it was a ripoff at the great director it still would be a sign of respecting and looking at his work for inspiration

@rockiesbandwagon Agree 100%. If you're gonna borrow a true visionaries style. At least make it worth. They did good in this one :).
jstark069 3 months ago
@jstark069 I felt the same way about There Will Be Blood.
RealH0rr0rsh0w 3 months ago 2
@RealH0rr0rsh0w I thought that as well when I saw There Will Be Blood. That movie also had a total Kubrick ending. Just like Clockwork Orange. Start the movie by the main person admitting they are scum. Then spend the whole movie trying to convince watchers that they may actually be decent, Just so at the very end they can say...."Nope.... I'm Scum and proud of it!!!" lol

@jstark069 Throw in some Dennis Potter as well.

@jstark069 I got it just from the trailer so I know what you mean

@jstark069 Understand where you are coming from. Just try not to say Kubrick so much. We get it already

@jstark069 I agree, and the story reminds me of Clockwork Orange.

Im going to watch this film Only cause people are keep telling me watch this gay ass movie cause I dont think he'll do a good job as bane.
Yahoo released pictures of him as bane and batman is bigger than bane, every batman fan knows bane is heck lot bigger than Batman.
We'll see.
Cant wait for summer of 2012 and see The Dark Knight Rises Crush Gay Ass amazing spider-man in the theaters.
I'll even go see TDKR film 7 times cause I dont want to hear Gay Ass spidey fans saying they beat Batman.
gfscarface13 5 months ago
Bane was soo bland in Batman and Robin!!! If this is how Hardy is going to portray Bane in Dark Knight Rises, hell Im all for it. Theres a reason why we should put our faith in film-making on Christopher Nolan

This movie was merely practice for Bane.

Bane will be small lol
Farhan917 6 months ago
@Farhan917 Yeah because we are stuck in the fucking dark ages and don't have the equipment to make an actor look taller. Yep, How big do you think the budget is $10 god damn dollars. Even if they don't I wouldn't be mad anyway. Call me crazy but when I watch a movie I care a little more about how good the actor is rather than how tall they are.
GunRyd3r 5 months ago
@GunRyd3r There's alot of ppl that can play Bane, all i'm saying is that why not stick to the cartoon? I'm not saying Tom Hardy isn't good actor, but we all know Bane isn't that small thats all i'm saying lol

What exactly did the man in the psychiatric ward say to Bronson that got him so upset. I think he was saying something about "they don't understand us" and "your nuttier than me." I also heard something about a 9-year old girl? Thanks ;)
