Amanda, it's not fair to vote on other people's civil rights. If 31 states voted to re-introduce slavery, would that be okay? Amanda, it's not fair to vote on other people's civil rights. If 31 states voted to re-introduce slavery, would that be okay? Even if the majority wanted it, it still wouldn't be okay, because it would be denying other people their civil rights. It's the same thing with same sex marriage, and as far as I can see, there's nothing "unnatural" about two people making a commitment to care for each other. That's all gay people want -- to be able to legally protect their spouses and children.

I wonder why a man can go and get a woman pregnant, and leave her to raise her child alone. Then she has to put the child up for adoption, rather than have it live a less-than-mediocre life. Happens all too often.
Homosexual couples have to WANT to have a child, they can't just accidentally make one and walk away from it. Far too many children are born to people who don't want children or don't have the resources to support children, or flat out aren't fit to raise children.

sparkleme1237, if raising children in straight households is supposed to stop children from growing up to be gay, this strategy isn't working very well. Case in point: yours truly. The truth is that straight parents raise gay children, and gay parents raise straight children. There is no need to be worried about gays being parents.

Sparkle, um, what? I grew up with gay parents, and they didn't raise me to be gay. They didn't raise me to be any particular orientation...because that's just silly. Parents don't get to choose their kids' sexuality. Not that it should matter, but most kids of gay parents are straight. And most gay people are born to straight mothers and fathers. Being gay isn't something you "catch' by being around gay people. It's not like the flu, lol. Being gay or straight depends on how your brain's wired.

Why do you feel like you have the right to treat them like they're subhuman? And what's wrong with their family? Their son is probably adopted or maybe he was born through surrogacy. Who cares? What matters is that he has a loving family. And I have 2 dads myself, so I know that gay families can be just as good as straight ones.
