Memorising patterns is the easy part. This is a challenge replay - no focussed movement with the fastest character. Even without that artificial restriction, it doesn't help to memorise some patterns.
i tried using the same strategy that gil used for this stage, but i found out that gil uses a joystick to control. thats how he can get youmu's cloud thing to move so fast.
Meh, I know nothing about the hitbox of the player's bullets in this game. I'll check it out later. I'm going to assume the player's bullet can hit around the character at the point of its origin.
He's not cheating, I've watched the replay in the actual game itself. The hitbox is smaller than the shots from the player, and they run into the shots before the hitbox.
The hitbox is around 5 pixels large and is located at the centre. Normally you can "focus" to enter slow-movement mode and see exactly where it is, but this is GIL's no-focus run with the fastest character in the game.
I have new respect for Youmu's playstyle after watching this.

Weak enemies die if they touch you (all except for bosses and certain others), only bullets and bosses can kill you by touch.

Seems like where I see an impenetrable wall, you see a sieve for boulders. Beautifully played, mate, but I think I'll stick to RPG's and Fighters.
