Wow, I noticed I have a ton of comments I didn't even know about. If you posted something and I did not get back to me, please let me know. I want to give all the help and encouragement that I can. Thanks and God bless,
Oh wow. That's awesome!!! Make sure to take the time you need to recover before starting to play again. I know you will want very badly to get back up, but the better you rest and recover the better it will be in the long run.
@LittleTiger967 i had the surgery 2 weeks ago. truly i was in hell pain wise for about a week but i made it through that part. now i don't really eat a lot. pain meds make me not hungry. but im doing get with the walking and everything else. so everyone that reads this, its not that bad, theres hope, and you can do it. just keep your heads up!
Wow, thats just about as bad as my top curve was. I know how scared you are, been through all that myself. I don't know what your beliefs are (and I'm not going to impose anything on you) but God really brought peace in my life through those fearful days. Regaurdless of how your situation looks I know He will bring peace to you as well if you let Him.
my surgery is in 4 days, almost 3 and i am just curious about anyone who had the surgery's pain level. 1-10. i heard from a friend at school who had the surgery this summer said she was at 3 most of the time, but raised to 7 when they took her off the strong pain meds. what was your pain level? im just nervous and anxiety has already reached me!!! thanks(:
@bulletsbaby95 Pain level for me was a 3 or a 4 in the hospital, but yeah when they put you on a lower dose of meds then it will hurt a little more.Don't be too nervous, I'm sure you'll be fine.I know what it's like to be in your position. As long as you remember that God is in control of your situation, even if you're scared, everything will be in His control. It has been almost 4 years now since my surgery and I am all the better because of it.Let me know of anything else I can help you with.:)
I was on Morphine while in the hospital and a variation of Tylenol after a few days.
I am great today. I am now 17. Playing Volleyball and working a part time job. It took a while to recover (3 months if I remember correctly), then I was pretty much back to normal. My instructions were "If it hurts don't do it" so thats pretty much what I live by.
six months ago i had a fourty two and twenty seven degree curves. the bad one is on the bottom. i think its progressed and i find out what my options are on friday. what are your opinions on brace vs. surgery?
well...with the morphine it wasn't too bad...but I had this really bad experience...my morphine ran out right when I needed it...they give you a ton of meds so you don't really feel much, but when you do it hurts bad...but not for too long...so its not terribly bad...I suppose it just depends on how well you take pain...I don't mean to scare you
no its fine, its the truth. I do take pain very well but I don't think anything that I've experienced so far in life with compare to have metal screwed onto my spine.. for the bone the place there, did they take it from your hip? if so did they do that at the same time as the spinal surgery?
My doctor was nice enough not to take bone from my hip...but if he did I think they do it at the same time...but I really don't know...well my mom had me out of bed and walking either the 2nd or the 3rd day...I think it was the 2nd day (after surgery that is).
i had the surgery a month ago. first i would like to thank god for pulling me through it. and thanks for the support from all. this surgery was tough and challenging but i can honestly say its worth it. i can give advice on surgery if anybody has any questions
I have it too and it's something that no one wants and i hope that your surgery went smooth and also your recovery....and i hope that every single person that has it there surgery goes well and the recovery becuase i know i want mine to and if it's tough for me...than it must tough for all of you...and i hope that everything is ok
Here are a few verses that really pull me through all of the rough times in life...Matthew 6:25-34 and Joshua 1:9b-("Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.").
To all of you out there who are getting this surgery and are scared, here is a bible verse: Psalm 46:1-3 says:God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.
It'll be all right, my surgery went fine and I'm sure yours will too. The recovery is tough (I'm still recovering) but I'm sure it'll be worth it. You'll be a little taller too if your curve(s) is bad.
What are your curve(s) measurements?
Mine were 66 and 67 I don't know what they are now. I'm going back to the hospital tomorrow. :)
i went thru my surgery in aug 2008. it was worth it but i was really scared! i want to help people with scoliosis by telling them my story and helping them find more information about scoliosis. you can make it! youre not alone.

I'm getting my surgery may be this december or next year in july but my back is 74 degrees and i was very scared until i saw this video i became happy again. thx for posting this video.
im getting scoliosis surgery dec 18th im glad i watched this vid because it encourages me to not be as scared as usual cuz when i saw that u were smiling it really made me feel like maybe this wont be as bad after all
I wonder how come I had to wear a plaster brace after the surgery (for 3 months without taking it off). I can´t see anybody wearing it here...Maybe we have diferent techniques in Europe. Anyway, 12 years after the surgery my back still feels stiff but it is probably because of the lack of exercise.I haven´t been assiduous enough.
(R01316)I think its because you might of had a greater degree angle I think, aint sure, I'm having my Surgery in December next year 2009, the curve isnt that wide my doctor said, but I will need to go into surgery.
hey I am getting surgery cause i have scoliosses to but my surgery is in may somtime and i a scared to because it is a 8 hour surgery so it is frighting to me so once i haVE IT DONE AND OVER WITH THEN I WILL BE FINE AND I WON'T HAVE TO WAER A CAST ANYMORE
this made me cry, my daughter is facing this surgery next yr at age 12, its scary but so glad you were brave enough to post this, it does help me. thanks and good luck to you xxxx
hey i wuz just wondering if you can possibly loose your flexibility if you get this surgery. i have mild scoliosis (i think <20 degrees) that most likely wont need surgical intervention to correct it
Wow! I really loved your video! It sorta brought me to tears because I was diagnosed with scoliosis at birth and have had numerous surgeries from birth to age 13. I am now 21 and still kicking lol! But I know how it feels to go through what you went through and I hope you are doing fine. To all the others that have to have surgery or know someone who have to just keep your head up and pray! It will be alright after it's over and done. I will pray 4 you also.
heeeeeeeeeeeeey i have 2 get the surgery done and i am really scared.........lol no but really if any one hase had it done plz tell me ok.cuz i wanna know every thing be4 i get it done ......:)
thank you for being strong enough to help other people my daughter is going to have the surgery soon and being able to see you deal with it helps so i thank you and hope u r doing well luv your strength
hey, i was diagnosed with scoliosis today. watching this video made me more aware of the problems that you have to cope with. what would happen if i choose not to have a surgery? is scoliosis a big problem? please give me a response as my family and i are seeking information to see if i need to have a surgery. and please tell me in your own consideration if i should get an operation, thank you very much.
I sure wish you all the luck in the world! May your back stay straight and your heart strong young lady. I actually cried watching this video as it brought back my own experience at age 49. I awoke partially blind from my surgery. Can't see out of right eye and left optic nerve is damaged. My curve was increasing and is twisted. I have rods from T-12 to L-4, fusion at L-4 to S-1. I hope you have no pain! Good Luck!
i had the operation too i ad 48degree curve now 15 its un noticiable...i only found out when it was 28degree my doctor noticed..i couldnt tell ..anyway i came home christmas eve..i missed 3 months school..i stll cant do p.e..imight need noher op though hopefully i wont though ..goodluck for your recovery
Hey there, I'm supposed to be having surgery soon. It was originally planned to be May 27 but it got postponed due to having low hemoglobin.
I was just wondering what was it like for you after your surgery and after you got out of the hospital. What kind of changes did you have to make for yourself and for how long did you have to carry out with that plan. Thanks I'd love to know:] TTYL
Thank you for sharing your video! My daughter will have surgery on June 3rd. Could you please tell what made you the most comfortable at home? We have an awesome doctor and nurse and hospital. Im just very concerned about keeping her comfortable. Any info would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you for sharing your story. I had this same surgery when I was 13 (I'm 21 now), and when you go through something like this you definitely come out of it a stronger person. When I look back on my surgery, I realize how I had the "faith of a child" and felt completely at peace with everything...God really took care of me!
i might be getting surgery.but i'm really scared.how was the process going through the surgery? like did it hurt really bad? i'm curious.what i'm most scared about is the needle they poke in your back.how was that? how bout when you woke up from anesthsia? how long till the scar go away? i think me being scared of all that is preventing me from choosing whether or not to have the surgery or not. but i know i have to.how long did the pain last?
I just had my surgery on the 20th of may and I'm still recovering and am in a bit of pain. But as long as you have pain-killers you should be fine. (I am, I'm also enjoying the leave from school. My summer has started early!) I didn't get a needle in my back, why do you have to?
I cried during your video. Your experience reminds me alot of my daughter's surgery. She's 6 yrs old. My thoughts are with you and Godspeed to you and your family. If you would like to see her video, its entitled "Our scoliosis journey".
How are you feeling now and will you have to have any more?
I am so proud of you!! And I hope all is well with you. I am 34yrs old..and I just had the surgery 4 months ago. You were totally right about the doctors waiting as long as they can...LOL Anyway...honey...I hope everything is great with you that you've healed up really great. Thanks for posting this...and Good Luck!!!
Hi,I'd just like to tell you I love the video. I had scoliosis surgery for my 67 degree curve on March 13, 2000, (I was 11 years old then.) Now, 7 years later, watching your video, I remember it like it was yesterday. I related so much to your video, especially the part of you in the bed with a bell in your hand. My grandmother bought me a bell just like that after my surgery. I hope you're doing well and thank you for the inspiring video.
hey i love this video omg ! today i just found out i have to get surgey beacuse in 4months my curve went to 47 degrese message me if u canand tell me how you delt with it
i had scoliosis surgery about 2 1/2 years ago or so. the top of my curve was 75 degrees and the bottom was 25 degrees. it suxed and it was the most painfull thing i ever went through in my life. hope ur doing ok :)
this video was soo cool i have scoliosis buti have 2 curvs the first one is 37 and the other one is well idk it lol but im afrad i may have to get surgey was the pain real bad?
aww...inspiring :] (crazyielyes lil sis talkin); Im nine and hav a 43 degree angle...O.O questions: is it possible to be paralized after it? am I old enuf to have it? LOL.
Thanks for you comment.Yes it is possible to be paralyzed but, the chances of being paralyzed are less than 1 in 10,000 according to my doctor.I've heard from kids younger than you who have had it but, their curves were very severe. The doctors like to wait on children for as long as they can.
Th surgery is a breeze. The pain is controlled with morphine and you might scream like I did when you wake up because you dont know where you are and why all these things are connected and bleeps going on and the old granny giving out a groan in the bed next to you... that was funny. but dont worry it's fine!
i had this when i was 12....it helped for 10 years...now i have chorinc back pain from deg dics...sciatica...its screwed...watch for pain later on in your lower back and legs...numbes and so on...u can email me anytime...im having another majpr surgery again on lower lumbar now to correct pinched nerves, deg discs and screws are going into each hip FRIG!! Please follow up every year or so
I've just cried buckets watching your video! My daughter is 7 and about to undergo growth rod surgery for scoliosis. We are Christians and she has received much prayer for healing, as I am sure you did. Please let me know the artist and title of the song as it touched me so much. Much love to you. xxx
how old are you? Wow! I can tell you are a lot younger than me and you seem to have a lot less fear than I. I am 22 and my scoliosis surgery is Aug.24th. of this year. I know GOd will take care of me, but I am still terrified. what was your degree of curve? Can you tell me anything to help? Thank you for your bravery and courage.
you are an AMAZING CHILD OF GOD! Thank you soo much. My degree is 45 and 30. I was wondering your curve because I keep fearing I am having surgery when I don't need too. But then again, my 45 was only 30 degrees 3 years ago. So you have given me hope. Thank you hun!
thank you for the video I'm going to have surgery soon and it scares me a lot. But knowing that God is with me, i fear nothing. your video is uplifting.
Hi there. I enjoyed your video!. I spent ~17 years cast and braced because of scoliosis, not the best way to spend your childhood/teenage years but ah well. All the best with your recovery!
i might get that surgery im not sure if i want to ive had brace since 5th grae im going in2 8th now its simialr 2 curves top 40 bottom 50 by august i ahve ot make my decision
Our daughter is going to have her surgery on the 10/07/07 in the uk,s finest hospital in Stanmore!
She and us are terrified, but after watching your video, and seeing how youve got better, it has helped us. We wish you all the very best, lots of love from us ......
my daughter had the surgery in 1993 after being in back brace from age 8 surgery is rough be strong i really have often thought there should be a support group this a surgery unless u go thur u have no idea i wil pray for u
my daughter had surgery for scoliosis in Stanmore in April 2007 - as you say it is a tough but worthwhile journey. Gemma is 11, is doing really well. If you wish to contact us,feel free. Thinking about you tomorrow and wish you well xx
What was the degree of your curve? Was it in your upper only? My daughter had the non fusion rods done in Feb 2007.. She's six years old... Click on my name and you will see it...
i've had this surgery more than a year ago. It's very hard to gor through. The recovery gets better as time goes on. i know what you've been through but it's worth it in the long run.
Thank you so much for the video. You made me realize that God is good all the time... I have severe scoliosis also and I badly need a surgery. Is anybody here can tell me the cost of the surgery? My doctor sugested to do my surgery in either Europe or USA coz in my country has not enough facilities and it can be very risky.
The cost of the surgery here in the US was about $150,000. My doctor's name was Dr. Jeffrey Shilt in Winston Salem, North Carolina. I pray that God will give you the strength you need the get through this.
Oh, my God.. $150.000 that's equivalent to over 7 million pesos. In that case I need to save more money to afford my surgery.. Unfortunately, I don't think I can save that much money., I think I will be crooked for the rest of my life. By the way, thank you so much for your reply.. I really appreciated it.. I wish your early recovery and good health.. God bless you..
Hey Little Tiger967, love your vid, and love the song. (PS Your friend is so mean for putting bunny ears on you.(chuckling)I probably would have done the same thing)
Did I get this wrong? Not god was the one who helped her, the surgeons did. If god had anything to do with it at all he brought the scoliosis over her, but he didn't do anything to correct it.
It's a shame you don't know God the way I do. The God I know doesn't make bad things happen to us. Yes I did have scoliosis but with God right there I got one hundrend percent correction. Just so you know that's almost impossible but with God there is nothing impossible. I pray that someday you will know Him like I do.
THAT'S VERY TRUE Little Tiger!! God is good all the time. Despite that I have scoliosis and I don't have enough money to afford my surgery, my scoliosis bring me near to God. I feel God's love every single day of my life and He gave me also a very loving husband who accepted me for who I am. Please just understand Director84 and continue pray for him coz he is unbeliever.. Take care...

(R01316)I think its because you might of had a greater degree angle I think, aint sure, I'm having my Surgery in December next year 2009, the curve isnt that wide my doctor said, but I will need to go into surgery.

hey i wuz just wondering if you can possibly loose your flexibility if you get this surgery. i have mild scoliosis (i think <20 degrees) that most likely wont need surgical intervention to correct it

I will pray 4 you also.

hey, i was diagnosed with scoliosis today. watching this video made me more aware of the problems that you have to cope with. what would happen if i choose not to have a surgery? is scoliosis a big problem? please give me a response as my family and i are seeking information to see if i need to have a surgery. and please tell me in your own consideration if i should get an operation, thank you very much.

Good Luck!

Thank you for sharing your story. I had this same surgery when I was 13 (I'm 21 now), and when you go through something like this you definitely come out of it a stronger person. When I look back on my surgery, I realize how I had the "faith of a child" and felt completely at peace with everything...God really took care of me!
God Bless!

i might be getting surgery.but i'm really scared.how was the process going through the surgery? like did it hurt really bad? i'm curious.what i'm most scared about is the needle they poke in your back.how was that? how bout when you woke up from anesthsia? how long till the scar go away? i think me being scared of all that is preventing me from choosing whether or not to have the surgery or not. but i know i have to.how long did the pain last?
please i'm curious

I just had my surgery on the 20th of may and I'm still recovering and am in a bit of pain. But as long as you have pain-killers you should be fine. (I am, I'm also enjoying the leave from school. My summer has started early!) I didn't get a needle in my back, why do you have to?

Hi,I'd just like to tell you I love the video. I had scoliosis surgery for my 67 degree curve on March 13, 2000, (I was 11 years old then.) Now, 7 years later, watching your video, I remember it like it was yesterday. I related so much to your video, especially the part of you in the bed with a bell in your hand. My grandmother bought me a bell just like that after my surgery. I hope you're doing well and thank you for the inspiring video.

aww...inspiring :] (crazyielyes lil sis talkin); Im nine and hav a 43 degree angle...O.O questions: is it possible to be paralized after it? am I old enuf to have it? LOL.
crazyielye 4 years ago
Thanks for you comment.Yes it is possible to be paralyzed but, the chances of being paralyzed are less than 1 in 10,000 according to my doctor.I've heard from kids younger than you who have had it but, their curves were very severe. The doctors like to wait on children for as long as they can.

Th surgery is a breeze. The pain is controlled with morphine and you might scream like I did when you wake up because you dont know where you are and why all these things are connected and bleeps going on and the old granny giving out a groan in the bed next to you... that was funny. but dont worry it's fine!

Thank you so much for the video. You made me realize that God is good all the time... I have severe scoliosis also and I badly need a surgery. Is anybody here can tell me the cost of the surgery? My doctor sugested to do my surgery in either Europe or USA coz in my country has not enough facilities and it can be very risky.
tonjol83 4 years ago
The cost of the surgery here in the US was about $150,000. My doctor's name was Dr. Jeffrey Shilt in Winston Salem, North Carolina. I pray that God will give you the strength you need the get through this.

Oh, my God.. $150.000 that's equivalent to over 7 million pesos. In that case I need to save more money to afford my surgery.. Unfortunately, I don't think I can save that much money., I think I will be crooked for the rest of my life. By the way, thank you so much for your reply.. I really appreciated it.. Did I get this wrong? Not god was the one who helped her, the surgeons did. If god had anything to do with it at all he brought the scoliosis over her, but he didn't do anything to correct it.
Director84 4 years ago
It's a shame you don't know God the way I do. The God I know doesn't make bad things happen to us. Yes I did have scoliosis but with God right there I got one hundrend percent correction. Just so you know that's almost impossible but with God there is nothing impossible. I pray that someday you will know Him like I do.

LittleTiger967 4 years ago
THAT'S VERY TRUE Little Tiger!! God is good all the time. Despite that I have scoliosis and I don't have enough money to afford my surgery, my scoliosis bring me near to God. I feel God's love every single day of my life and He gave me also a very loving husband who accepted me for who I am. Please just understand Director84 and continue pray for him coz he is unbeliever.. Take care...
