  • he said Australia wahoo

  • @NathFilms WEOW!

  • Happy Birthday, Scotty. Such an incredible cover performed by a true artist. We light a candle for you, wherever you are.

  • awesome man. a true icon of all time.

  • I remember that day and on my tee shirt I wrote, "lick my crack Jaques Chirac", then paraded all over town, he's still licking an' his lips are brown!!

  • Buckley is such an amazing artist.... so much heart and honesty. It just blows me away whenever I listen to him. Whether he's doing covers like hallelujah or his originals, the performance is always impressive without being superficial, it stays heartfelt and pure. It's hard to even put words to it. Such a shame he's not around anymore.

For anyone searching for more music, I have a playlist on my channel of good and heartfelt acoustic music by unknown youtubers. Peace

  • ill always remember this song coz i learned it with the best teacher i ever had

  • 1 word LEGEND

  • wow....

  • Rufus Wainright sucks.

  • Haha, cuts off at the worst possible moment

  • You clearly have NO appreciation of what this song, & ESP Jeff's rendition, means to us. Bad on you.

  • How DARE YOU????! Take this post DOWN you sadistic fkr. How dare you draw us in with this & NOT post the WHOLE THing??!!!

You've brought BAD karma upon yourself. WTGDF???!! REALLY???!!

  • chills down my spine.....extremely good performance

  • Amazing

  • @lestat781205 Mais nan j'le pence pas x) j'voulais faire le rabat-joie a ce que je vois y a que toi qui me reprends :p Si j'aimais pas je vois pas comment j'aurais pu atterir la x)

  • You've got to admit, he looks like The Joker through most of this performance.

  • Perfect. Any other attempt at description would be ...unnecessary

  • 17 people can't hear that fucking amazing performance.

  • I think this is the best performance i've ever seen.

  • This should be our national anthem.

  • he's inspiring....

I wish he was still alive. <3

I started listening to his music a few months ago, and now I can't stop. I love it...

  • C'est raide a chier.

  • @MrKhene

"Raide à chier" ? Ca ne m'étonne même pas que cet avis vienne d'un Français. Le jour où un Français comprendra quelque chose à la musique...

  • I love the entire album..

  • There's a website called i-covertunes that has the full 6 and a bit minutes in higher quality with no flutter. I can't post the link but it's not hard to find.

  • just to let you guys know this is the full live version, youtube.com/watch?v=LI8zyFxfmrU

  • May i just say that this video sucks, i love this song and it gets all the way to the end and then just cuts off. Big disappointment, you could have mentioned that before i got into the song.

  • 15 people work for the French government

  • :its one of the best written songsout there there are so many versions of this song, they are all wonderful but jeff has a way of connecting it with you, it makes you feel sad yet beautiful at the sametime, and the way his voice changes throughout the song is just magic, it does the song justice,

  • TheFilmGuy999: Hallelujah isn't Buckey's song, it was written by Leonard Cohen. I hate people who cant give credit where it's due; they're worse than people who say they hate Buckley.

  • why would anyone hate this man????

  • I woke up and saw that SOMEONE SET US UP THE BOMB.

  • TAPE FLUTTER RAPE!

  • that cut-off at the end is a heartbreaker. damn.

  • This the only real version. There is no better one. Jeff was a saint. RIP.

  • please !!!! I beg you to upload the full song

  • Why does it cut off?

  • Check out 'Convalescence Kid: Nothing left to lose' This guy's pretty awesome!!

  • @tphillips31333 Jeff Buckley was too young to know. He wanted to know and studied the masters, but reading it doesn't make one realize like real life. His version is too whiney and forced full of patos. Cohen is the author and the man who feels the words. He conveys an insight not a theory, like the overrated pup Buckley. Cohen doesn't have to overplay, he just tells it as it is. You can try to copy a master but you're just showing what you look up to and how far you have to go.

  • @skridtprygl How could your possibly have an opinion as to what Jeff did and didn't know about life to sing this song. You did not walk the shoes of his life. There are ten year olds who have seen more of life than some 70 year olds. Jeff's feeling here is far from forced. YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE THE AUTHOR TO FEEL THE WORDS. I FEEL THEM. And I can't even sing. Buckley is far from an overrated pup. But you sound very much like a bitter man who didn't get to where he did in only 30 years.

  • @skridtprygl can't agree at all....and i'm a great Cohen fan....and i know for sure Leonard himself disagrees with your opinion... so have a nice day, stay in peace... and give this magnificent pup a chance...listen to great ''Grace '' album and then, we can talk songwriting and being too young to know. love to you wherever you are.

  • @skridtprygl Well everyone has the right to their own opinion. What is considered "whiney" to you - is to me some of the greatest singing of all time. Since I'm a singer myself, I would be the luckiest guy alive if I just were able to own 10% of Buckleys talent as a vocalist (not to mention his writing skills). As for cohen, I think you are absolutely right in the fact that he "tells it as it is". Then again I like actual singing more than just Cohens' talking to music. But that's just me...

  • @skridtprygl You have my sympathy. I mean it.

  • Seriously...who disliked this video? It's cool seeing him perform in a suit jacket. While this is certainly waaaay up there at the top of my list, I find that EVERY version of Hallelujah he did is the best version.

  • like magic

  • 15 satan worshipers?

  • mammamia

  • How can you not like this? Buckley is awesome! Sketches for My Sweetheart the Drunk was stuck in my CD player for half a decade.

  • no song gives me the chills every fucking time... except this one

  • 15 people are the followers of the devil.

  • Cool video, mimics studio version of song which is my preference.

  • any body have 15 bullets

  • @superk11252000 wow you are so clever and original.

  • Love is not an victory march, it's cold and it's a broken hallelujah... He really sings and plays so nice and so emotional...

  • Did they ever sound check this. There's like no reverb on the voice heaps on that guitar...

  • the intro is just chilling

  • its very well filmed too

  • with ease, beauty and grace, perfect!!

  • i hope that where are you now, you could make all the people that are there with you happy with your sweet voice. miss you jeff

  • About two days ago I woke up in australia, and i saw the bomb go off, and i felt sad. That the French government had joined a long list of fools who insist on sending death sentences to the earth. This is for all the peiple who know that the only good place for a nuclear bomb is in the garbage dismantled. This is for Lennard wherever you are, and this is for... @hanibou

  • nina simone :)

  • @mnosugi Thank you so much !

  • Hi everybody ! Could someone write what Jeff said before singing ? I understand english better written than spoken... Thanks in advance.

  • the only sin here is how it ends!

  • Magic!

  • He looks and sounds so so sad.. it's heartbreaking..

  • @bluebirdsmile yes heartbreaking. fragile.

  • Rest in peace dear Jeff...

  • This is my favorite recording of this song. wish they'd put the ending up and, cut out that shit at the beginning

  • Pourquoi est tu parti ?

  • I hate people that just say, "I hate Jeff buckley and all of his music, except for maybe hallelujah." I mean i guess its ok if you dont like his music and its not your style, but just respect him. Respect how much soul and energy he put into each of his songs, respect how many people he has touched and moved with his music, and respect his unbelievable voice and talents. They are close minded people that base their music taste on what other people like, not what they like.

  • @TheFilmGuy999 I agree with every single thing thing you said..!!

  • @TheFilmGuy999 It's funny lyrically Hallelujah cannot touch Grace at all in anyway shape or form, and it is the one he did write, and it is equally beautiful, much more haunting. I think all of Jeff's music is just purely amazing I wish he was still alive, and making more of this beautiful music, I wish his father equally talented was still alive to make his amazing music I found also!

  • @TheFilmGuy999 They have the perfect right to hate all of his songs and only love this one... So not liking Buckley is being close minded... Then you perhaps are a blinded fan who's close minded to other people's taste.

  • @VyNaturally in no way am i saying that i hate their taste in music. Im just asking them to have a little respect. there are a lot of musicians who i respect greatly, but i never listen to their music. They have the right to only like this one, but to say that everything else sucks and not respect it anyways is just being incredibly stubborn and discourteous.

  • @TheFilmGuy999 Buckley has a nice voice. I don't know much about his music, but read many of his lyrics. Not really my cup of tea. I only like this song Hallelujah... I guess, perhaps the "brightest and sunniest". The few other songs I have listened to bored or got me depressed. :/ But hey, he has way more talent than so many vocally, so I give credit to that. Again, others have the right to think he sucks even though this might offend you. Have a great day. :)

  • @VyNaturally how is this "bright and sunny"

  • @myuesrnameisbad Did you see the quotation marks... ? And did you notice how I said "brightEST", "sunniEST" ?

  • Fender Telecaster at it's finest.

  • "...and this is for the innocent one..." *guitar*

Sent a shiver all over my body!

  • @Uzzie101

    "This ones for Nina Simone"

    You interperations, need seriious work.

  • i wish he was still alive, his beliefs and words were beautiful.

  • @thatamazinggeek Yes, I do have a different outlook and I can honestly say that my life has changed quite a bit. Sure, there are loads of videos on youtube not all of them carry such an impact imo when compared to this song.

  • @Aikamatkustaja not just any man! this song needs Jeff Buckley.

  • Man and the guitar. Thats all this song needs.

  • This song sounds haunting. My favorite of all time!

  • just one word..beautiful..

  • hes was so talented. Its a shame how the world shits on every thing good!

  • Amazing

  • Oh man, Youtube deleted this a few years ago -- I'm saving this right now -- and then loving it.

  • He looks so much like Heath Ledger as the Joker in this video. Hah.

  • I think that Jeff looks like Heath Ledger too!But I believe that Jeff reminds Heath not only in Joker...but everywhere!

  • some musicians can make a song much more than a song and this is one example

  • @smithywolves23 heureuse de savoir que d'autres pensent et ressentent la meme chose que moi .une ame

  • @smithywolves23 johnny Cash version of Hurt, a classic example.

  • great! :D

  • "About two days ago, I woke up in Australia and I saw the bomb go off, and I felt sad that the French government had joined along with the fools that insist on sending death sentences to the Earth. This is for all the people who know that the only good place for a nuclear bomb is in the garbage dismantled. This is for Leonard wherever you are. This is for Nina Simone."

  • @aliozgurarslan a long list of fools nerd

  • @TheAusCoach i just googled it dude. didnt even check.

  • @aliozgurarslan Thank you !

  • LOVE!

  • wow

  • Can anybody explain me what he's saying? I'm not english and I can't understand anything but the first phrase... ^^'

  • @Vesper92 About 2 days ago i woke up in Austrailia and i saw the bomb go off and i felt sad that the french government had joined the long list of fools who insisnt on sending sentences to the earth, this is for all the people who know that the only good place for a nuclear bomb is in the garbage dismantled. • @whysoninja Thank you! :)

    Beautiful words...

  • Fantastique

  • looks like 12 people missed the like button

  • Simply beautiful. Best live version next to John Cale's.

  • i love it how he can just stand there.... guitar in hand.... and just have an amazing effect on all of us.... RIP J B

  • my favourite song ever!!!!!!!!!

  • fuck the french fuckers ,they are faggots ww2 they let us all down#

  • @Erlaid lol actually it wasn't really their fault. Germany occupied France before they surrendered. Meaning German soldiers were everywhere and were outstandingly outnumbered by the Germans. Surrender or watch millions of your men, women and children get slaughtered... They were in a situation were they couldn't do any more. That's why political leaders like Churchill and Roosevelt weren't angry a France, because they knew their situation.

  • @Darkez982

    thanks a lot !! :)

  • One last post for the evening. Love Jeff Buckley!

  • this is the most moving video i have ever seen

  • whoever compared this to american idol should be shot. With a guitar.

  • I wonder if anyone has got this full performance anywhere. it would be amazing.

  • One of the most beautifull songs i have ever heard.. <3

  • absolutely superb.. he was magic.

  • @lauflapjack zac efron? what?

  • @lauflapjack no, just no

  • @lauflapjack fag

  • @idoforensics and @jojo7mu: both of them played amazing for me.... no need to compare each other. Both of them are genius...

  • i was there sitting on the dirty floor in complete awe one of the best experiences of my life

  • this is good.. but when i hear Lee Dewyze sing this song that is so fantastic!!!!

    Buckley < Dewyze

  • @jojo7mu you have to be kidding me. Dewyze was just looking for a performance because it's a competition, and he completely missed the essence of the song. This right here will give you chills

  • With a heavy heart I listen to thee again. Not enough evenings have passed where I don't think of you.

  • Schon wieder jemand der dieses Lied nicht singen kann. Oh mein Gott, so schlimm. Hört auch mal die Version von Bon Jovi an. Sehr schön.

  • listen and reflect.

  • Why was this cut off? Why? I want to know this right now.

  • Pas tous les french , la plupart etaient contre les essais nucleaires .

  • @Robbo639

the french wer testing nuclear bombs in the pacific ocean around that time. im from new zealand and remember it on the news alot then. even tho i was only 9

  • music from the heart.

  • beautiful

  • recomiendo la escucha de esta cancion a todo el mundo

  • This video is the first thing i ever saw or heard of Jeff years ago. I'm torn up a little more every time I hear it. Every time like the first time.

  • @Pickpocket Y? He's right!

  • I love this vid from the first time I've seen it.. especially when he say "this is for all the people who knows that the only good place for a nuclear bomb is in a garbage dismantled. "love you Jeff R.I.P

  • so beautiful and unique. why do the best die too early? a wonderful song and a great musician.

  • @movie123maus they die in their prime so they leave a legacy and do nt repeat them selves but have you noticed the people who die young seem to have such a long life?

  • @FRIKKENAWESOME yes, i've already noticed. these people seem to live forever. and their work will be live in everyones heart in every time in the future. however the death of jeff buckley was very tragically and also a losing for the world of music, i think...

  • It didnt matter that the whole song wasnt there..

What i heard was just amazing...

  • unbelievable talent =[

  • i fucking love him. i wish he was still alive. this is my favorite song.

  • AWESOME. jeff could pack so much emotion in his music

  • jeff, never forget the day i knew your voice, what an impact!!love you, thanx for all!!!!!

  • Jeff Buckley is the kind of music you need to listen when you are:

Depressed or In Love, I love his music

  • @rockerMan0987

let alone every other kind of emotion :)

    jb = the greatest

  • @rockerMan0987 Jeff Bucley is the kind of music that you have to listen everytime, it doesn't depends about how you are.

I love his music too, and really like this version. ;)

  • @luancoelho well my friend in my case it kinda does, because if i listen that kind of music when I'm in love or depressed, etc I enjoy way more those songs, beacause I can't listen blink 182 if I'm depressed it's diffrent ;)

  • @rockerMan0987

     love is depressing

  • @micalight It sure does my friend, but the only reason you can be depressed because of love is because you were happy because of it, and it's beatiful isn't it?

  • @Robbo639

this is recording takes place during the late 1990s. the bomb he's speaking of ( i'm guessing ) is referring to the last nuclear bomb detonation the french conducted in late 1995 in french polynesia. it was very controversial.
