pedicabs are like a dollar a block, mess up traffic, and they dangerously swerve into traffic. 2 of them ran right into my car. the first time, he had passengers! luckily no one was injured. but when these guys are out there on 2nd ave midtown around 2-3 am...thats just dangerous

That's great thing. Pedicabs are big enough to be seen and not be screwed with in traffic, otherwise you get a scratched dented car.

Taxi driver is a fat moron lol. A hybrid wouldnt work as they use the system of using eletric engin if travling under 30mph and it chargest when the car is using the petrol engin when doing over 30mph. soo the taxi drive would rarely do over 30mph so it would be $30,000 on a wasted car which is actully less economic to build as alot of distance and precious minirals are used. Pretty cool. I'm not knocking the pedicab in any way but they should have both have had to take at least one LIVE passenger rather than running empty. Not only would the passenger load down the pedicab but it would constrain both drivers from going too crazy riding/driving as the passenger would start screaming in the back if the cabbie got too nuts. I suspect both cabbies rode/drove a lot differently empty than they would with a complaining old lady in the back.

Still, pedecabs are cool!

staged.  i mean, there is no way this program would set up a challenge that would allow the real cab to win. i mean, i'm all for eco-life in every way, but if you have a bunch of luggage or have fragile/vulnerable items...and its raining...etc...then what? and what if you like privacy or don't feel like getting crushed in traffic?

anyway, pedicabs are cool, when you can find one that's not being peddled by an asshole.

Have you ever been stuck in downtown traffic in ANY big city??? Bikes, pedicabs and other forms of human-powered transportation (whatever that may be) have the advantage over any cars that take up the bulk of one street lane. I'm a pedicab driver myself and I do it all the time.

@sunsetally and, if there were more pedicabs, they would have to be subject the all the same rules as regular taxis. It's one of those deals where the advantage would diminish as the idea was expanded. It benefits because it is limited.
